    I saw them open for Def Leppard in 1988. My brother in law played Mindcrime on the way there. I'd never heard it before. After the show I walked away wanting more. I forgot all about Def Leppard and bought my first CD ever. Operation: Mindcrime

      All singers at his age sing lower notes. Bruce Dickinson does it all the time. But, I will say in this performance he is hitting most of them. When playing live, Chris sang most of the high notes in the choruses anyway. Pamela is just singing those parts here.

      ha . He Hasn't HIT any HIGH Notes for a LONG long while .. Saw them a few Times .. Even Like 10 Years+ ago He wasn't Hitting them .. Heard him Try a few years later .. He Didn't Make It .. But Tried .. :)
      .. The CRAP QR has put out for the Last Several Years is Really SAD .. and is So Sucky I can Hardly Describe it !!! .
      .. But THEY SURE ROCKED .. Many Many Years ago !! .. their First like 5 LP"s were ROCKIN !! .. after that started Suckin it up like Def Leppard and Bon Jovi did .. :/ . So Sad ..

    • @jmbwithcats
      @jmbwithcats 10 років тому +2

      gremlinjr2 The only time I heard him hit the notes was on the studio album, never live, ever. So I guess he had a short window where his voice was pristine, I don't know what happened... Steven Tyler originally sang Dream On with the voice of an angel, I doubt anyone could believe that's him now... or even a little later... sometimes smoking, drugs, dunno, Steve Perry of Journey came back recently with The Eels, and he's STILL got it after all these years... amazing... couldn't believe it.

      @jmbwithcats 10 років тому

      philwaterline
      uh no he doesn't. in every single live performance i've ever heard on youtube, Tate does not hit the high notes.
      Listen to the line... "I always know that the mirror never lies"
      When he sings mirror never lies, and on turn away... he ALWAYS drops WAY down.

    Geoff tate has aged and his voice isn't going to be the insane operatic quality of Rage for Order or the original Mindcrime album back in the 90s. However he isn't bad in this. He smoked for many years and I think that took a toll on his voice.

    Where was the keyboardist? I don't think I saw them even once. Was it "canned" ?

    I don't know if this is a wig, but it looks like as if Tate is a kind of Samson: he gets strenght from his hair. More hair > more voice. ;-)

      Is not a wig, it is Geoff's hair.

    He is a great actor and was a great singer but this video clearly shows how he lost his abilities by the 2nd half of the past decade. Avoids singing almost all the difficult parts of the song in the original pitch.
