Really wish we could make the time to get down there again soon. It's an awful lot of fun in the surf, well worth the fuel costs for a relaxing fishing trip on the coast!
Yes, it was a good time. Perhaps you will, we would like to get back down there, keep talking about it, just can't seem to put it together this summer.
Wish the wind hadn't gotten up on us, the trout were hitting in the sound, but we couldn't get on them because of the SW wind at 20 to 30. Thanks for watching!
We talked about rigging halfway through the video. Other than that, a good strong surf pole, sand spike and some 17-20 pound test will do, unless you're using larger baits for bigger fish, and might want to go a bit heavier on the line. Good Luck!
Never understood fishing on the shore in the ocean, always thought you couldn't catch much. Cool to see this video, you guys killed it. What a sweet place to stay too.
Depends where on the ocean you fish. Hatteras island is way out there on the outer banks, about 30 miles out to sea from the mainland, and only 15 miles from the gulf-stream. That helps, but if you can read the surf, you can fins fish almost anywhere along the coast.
Well this video slipped right through the cracks on me, but i found it thanks to the recommendations. Snapper / Baby Blue fishing is fun as hell. I can't believe the limit is only 3 per person per day. in NY its 10 per & no size limit. Those were the perfect eating size though.
I've never been a big fan of bluefish, but Michael loves them. I was also shocked that the limit had been so severely reduced, last time we went I think it was 15 a day.
@@SharingTheOutdoors yeah that limit is crazy. Have you ever seen some of the massive schools of blues chasing bunker schools?! They look like oil slicks.
@@jurassicsushi There are a lot of them out there. Most recreational limit restrictions they are usually placed to help protect commercial fishing interests.
These rigs should work, although we've never fished the summer months much so species caught and the bait you want to use might vary. Best advice I have is head to the local tackle shop and ask their advice for current conditions.
I've been down to Myrtle before. North Myrtle. We actually went down on a turkey hunt, and my buddies mom had a place a few blocks from the beach we stayed at. They've done so much work on the beach there, replenishing and leveling the sand way out off the beach the surf fishing really isn't worth the time and effort there. Piers are a better option along that stretch of coast.
Great video! Love the excitement when those blues come in on the beach! I went chasing them last week when I was down but had more success fishing the trough with my bottom rig in my videos!
Yes we will. I've been trying to get out and do some scouting this summer, just been so hot. I'll take the camera with me when I go, I want to cover some less conventional methods I've used in the past..
Depends on what you want to spend. We've rented oceanfront houses, and walked right out the door and onto the beach and done well. We stayed at the Cape Hatteras Motel this time, easy to get a room with folks being scared to travel right now. Most of the oceanfront motels make it easier to get out and fish without having to lug gear, but we have also stayed ocean block and had someone drop us off with the gear at the end of the street, drive back and park, then walk back and join us. The campgrounds are also an option if you want to camp. They have ramps to the beach, it's a bit of a hike, but if you have a 4x4 you can get an ORV permit and drive right on out to the surf.
@@bobbygolden8322 It's the buildings you see in the background. If you notice there is water right up on them at high tide. As far as fishing close, there were people fishing off their balconies when the tide came in.
@@bobbygolden8322 It's actually better on a moving tide, a few hours either side of a peak high or low. Of course, this is going to depend on surf action. A very heavy wind driven surf action can make it almost impossible to hold bottom, even with very heavy tackle and 8 or 10 pounces of weight. A surf that's too light will slow things down too, as the waves wont dislodge and move food around to make fish feed actively.
Nice video guys! We're spending the week out at deep creek right now.. got on some big walleye and perch using tips from some of your videos out there 👍
This was great, thanks, been searching for "surf fishing rod and reel" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Wenayden Xenaylee Blaster - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin got great success with it.
Glad we can help. Sometimes getting started can be hard. I would suggest trying anything you think will help, but there is no substitute for walking out on the beach yourself and learning from the school of hard knocks.
Hey man, we just found your channel!. We go to OBX every year and always stay in Hatteras Village. That was a huge whiting in the beginning. We subbed ya!. Check us out sometime
Thanks for watching! We used to go quite a bit, but after the storms we kind of stopped for a while. It was great to go back! I'll stop by and check you all out.
beautiful couple. great video. i really enjoyed it. im heading over that way to fish in a week. keep it up.!!!!
Well thanks so much! We hope to get back down that way sooner rather than later ourselves! Good Luck!
Man I haven’t fished for bluefish in forever!

Looks like you guys had a nice trip. Good stuff brother, maybe I’ll run into you on the beach in Buxton some day. Tight lines!

Love seeing real videos. Thanks!
We enjoy making them! Thanks for watching!
Great video! Thanks for all the info!
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Back in the 70s and 80s we would catch couple hundred a day down there in Nov and Dec 15-20lbs I kid you not. Those days are long gone. Peace
I know, they dropped the limit WAAAAY back.
Great job guys!

Nice!!! Looks like a freaking blast!!! I gotta try!
Lots of fun!
It’s great how many enjoyable trips you have
We are blessed to be able to do what we do!
Howdy sir....love the sound of the beach! Great tips too...have a great weekend!
It is a great sound, not so much when you're trying to film! Thanks for stopping by!
What tackle should I use ? I’m going down there soon. Nice vid 👍

I’m going to carvova beach(coralla , outer banks) this month, any fishing recommendations? Thanks

Look fun. We recently went to Myrtle. If only fish’s the ocean once that was a charter boat

Dana, you remind me of a little kid fishing, it's really cute.
