- It was time to get away! In October one of my favorite places to fish the east coast is Cape Hatteras North Carolina. This is when the Red Drum run is usually in full effect. Mark and I drove through the night and make it to the beach at first light to wet our lines. This video is day 5 of our trip! On our way off the banks we stopped at fished the beach at Kitty Hawk. Did WAY better than I thought. We caught a wide variety of fish including one of my absolute favorite fish to eat!

Great fishing! Love those Puffers, we called them Blowfish on Long Island NY. Caught them with bologna! Nothing better tasting! Mom would cook them in a cast Iron pan, egg dip and some seasoned flour. People would throw them back when I was a kid, now they are prized! Its been 55 years since I had a plate of Blowfish, hope to change that this year. (2023) Be safe, have fun!
lived on the obx my whole life and used to fish when i was younger, now im 23 and me and some friends decided to go a couple weeks ago and i caught a northern puffer and decided to cook it up. I agree it is honestly one of the most flavorful and delicious fish ive ever had

Another great catch! That sure makes me want to head back to the beach. It's been a couple of years. We stay at Atlantic Beach. You were just north of it on Hatteras.

Cape Hatteries and after seeing your video I may return in January. The gulf is loaded with seaweed and not fishable.

It`s ironic that the only one who DONT want to show his face on camera, is the one who is in almost every video. You have to be very careful when cleaning puffer fish. Right?
Not the Atlantic version, cut the head off, slice the skin around the tail and peel them back. You'll have the spine surrounded by the best fish you've ever consumed. Breaded, pan fried....some home fries....cole slaw....cold beer....heaven!

Not to be "that guy", but what you call spotted sea trout, isn't that in reality a species of drum, and not trout? As a European I have never seen any species of Salmonidae with that type of dorsal fin... All the best from "that guy", a fellow angler (and detectorist)
It's always been called a speckled sea trout but yes technically they're part of the drum family. We have them not spotted we call grey trout too
