I find it frustrating when i hear people complain about peoples focus on clothing in skateboarding like: "who cares what hes wearing just look at his skating", but ultimately, people decide their favourite skates on ability and style. Skating style as well as clothign style, as skating is such a visual thing

Skating is definently a fashion show. Every day you decide what shoes you want and what shirt you want. the designer of all these companies have heavy background with fashion and what you see in the stores is what they worked hard on. and what they worked on is on your body. after all skate boarding has fashion written all over it.

This is my second time watching this. What is so crazy about this to me is that people in the industry had an issue with Dylan looking so good. His style also came out in his skating. It's not like he was a hack he was incredible. I am almost 40 and I remember seeing that Gravis part and he became my favorite "new" skater at the time. I was Heath and Brian Anderson and I saw that part and instantly put him in that class. So crazy that other pros didn't like his shoes or him looking fly. Obviously in hindsight No one would ever admit to that. Dill is a homie in this video for sure. Also heard Dill is actually from Turtle Creek PA. Super rad nobody makes it out like he did. Its a shithole 20 minutes out of Pittsburgh. I know this because I grew up skating in the next shithole over 25 minutes from Pittsburgh.

well is not really a fashion show but image is VERY important in skatboarding. your pants sometimes decide on which team you get on. the entire baker crew had so much succes because of the skating but leather jackets,skinny jeans combination had allot to do with it. people don't want to talk about it sometimes specially the pro's but they know what are they doing. I respect Kalis as a skater,he's a real street legend but I just don't like baggy jeans with logos on their pocket.

Dill saying he's not "up river" when he owns FA Hockey and charges way more than other brands do for similar products. Dill and FA are some of the most "up river" in the industry, just as bad as supreme.

To this day that "up river" comment from Dill was so disrespectful to Kalis. It's not that I even disagree with the idea of what it means (basically somebody that's more prone to showering daily and getting a good night's sleep and being a well rounded human being in general) but it was delivered in a way to slight Kalis and his contributions to the brand when its so crazy because he was on it longer than Dill was. It sucks to say that I think Kalis outgrew alien or maybe even the other way around but there seemed to be a lack of respect for Kalis coming from Dill and I think that's what seemed to hurt Kalis the most at that point. I hope that they've had conversations since then to mend the issue but Dill was very out of line with his comments.
Trying and failing to count the amount of fucks I give on one finger about how handsome a skater is or what they wear. Great show, but throwaway episode.
