The Electricity Regulatory Authority of Tamil Nadu on Monday ordered a hike in electricity tariffs, which will increase from 20 paise to 55 paise per unit for houses, utility companies, power looms, etc.The fare hike has been backdated from July 1 2024.
In respect of flats, Rs 8.15 paise per unit for public use has been increased to Rs 8.55 paise and the fixed charges has been increased to Rs 10 for 2 months. That means the fixed charges is 204 has been increased to 214 once for 2 months. Street lighting charges have also been hiked to a similar extent and similar hikes have been implemented for government educational institutions.
Free from 0-100 as per existing TARIFF
101 to 400 is Rs.4.70
401 to 500 Rs.6.30
501 to 600 Rs.8.40
So Rs.2460 is for 550.
Did you see last year
0-100 is free for the same 550 units
101 to 400 is Rs.4.50
401 to 500 Rs.6.00
501 to 600 Rs.8.00
So Rs.2350 is for 550.
So difference is 2460-2350=110 for 550 units.
