      Who would build their sensors a very important part in all cameras. Seems to me not all camera companies should be at the same level of 'scared' if they do something. I think where DJI could be a showcase is mostly with wireless integration default in their camera with projects they already make like mic2 audio, their video wireless solutions, gimbal support, af etc etc

  • @scb2scb2
    @scb2scb2 24 дні тому +7

    I think you are missing a point they could build in all the DJI parts that are now optional for cameras. For one build in Mic2 support say 4 channel 32bits directly from transmitters to the camera the way action4 or pocket3 works. Same with video output build in a video transmitter and maybe even receiver into the camera to go all wireless. I can also see them making a external 'wireless' storage device that when closeby acts like a hub for backup and through connect for things like thethering. To me it would make most sense not to 'fight' sony and move to e-mount since they use their sensors anyway. I think it could partly be better integration with camera parts they already have : audio wireless, video wireless, af tools, gimbal integration, Object tracking etc etc.

    I know they already have "professional" level cameras and lots of drones. But personally, I won't consider buying any more of their products, including a possible, future mirrorless camera if it requires "activation" on their app in order to use it. If I buy a camera, I should be able to turn it on and use it. The fact that even their gimbals (something that almost caused a huge issue for me recently), require "activation" via an app that requires an account, an internet connection, and side-loading apps from third-party sources on Android, is just something that shouldn't be the case.
    Every camera from every other manufacturer that I've ever purchased was able to simply be turned on and used. Every product from DJI that I have experience with recently, requires activation in their app or it will lock you out of using it after a certain number of power cycles (I believe 5). I know it's not that difficult and most people don't have a problem with it. But it's not something I'm comfortable supporting any more. If I pay for your product, just let me use it without a special app, an internet connection, and an account. Especially since the app isn't even available in the play store for Android. You have to download the apk and side load it.

    I'm a DJI fanboy through and through. But, and it's bigger than a BBL, DJI entering the mirrorless market isn't going to scare the shit out of any of the established players. The camera market is big enough for anyone that wants to be a part of it to jump in and peddle their wares. DJI will need to release a product that surpasses what's already available by leaps and bounds. And even then it'll take them at least a decade to build a large user base. Especially if they introduce a new mount. Serious and pro-sumer users don't just abandon their systems because a shiny new camera comes along.

    • @cjenkins79
      @cjenkins79 24 дні тому +1

      Not sure about your logic here. The mirrorless camera market is small and not really growing. They number of cameras sold is pretty flat. Any increase is coming from higher revenue due to more expensive cameras. They're already at each others throats to take market share from each other. DJI entering this market would be devastating to them. Most pros would stick with the big three however this would limit their ability to reach the next generation leaving the big three to slowly die out.

I was holding out for a FX3II or something similar. So I can wit a couple of more months to see what the future holds. I would say an interchangeable lens camera with a gimbal integrated focused for pro-video with easy integration.
    Or a pro-drone with removable lens.
    They need to announce soon the new DJI NEO small drone.

    IMHO they can create an MFT Osmo camera. They have MFT lens, they have gimbals that can handle MFT lenses used in drones, they have proven successful osmo scheme. It's logical to connect there 2 things together as a pro OSMO camera.

    Samsung used to have the galaxy camera which was meant to be the kind of camera you are talking about. But Samsung pulled out of the camera market. However things have moved on and connectivity for newer photographer with an online focus could do well. Lens/lenses is interesting DJI could join the L mount alliance but most Likely not. Leaving develop their own system or go fixed. Fixed zoom puts it where the RX range from Sony should be by now, but the range appears dead in the water. Fixed prime means direct competition with Fuji x 100 vi but with much better connectivity. If I was DJI I'd go zoom. For the the market mentioned 24-135 would be ideal 24-70 acceptable. If Sony can squeeze 24-200 in an RX 100 am sure DJI can manage a 24-135. I wish them luck if the do go down this route.

    If DJI would enter dslr world. I wish they used MFT mount. That way camera body is small and has dozens of lenses already to use. As you say, DJI has possibilities to create easy UI on software side. Anyways it has to super easy to use. Otherwise it would be sold to professionals. They already have Nikon and Canon. They would not change to DJI. Millenials would be better demoraphy but UI has to be intuitive and very simple. Otherwise they would also not buy it.

    when they start another new mount, it will not be immediatly disruptive on the respective market.
    L-Mount+FF would be massive due to sigma eg. and would have the most disruptive potential.
    FF on own mount... will take them years to get an ecosystem.
    If they do it on mft... OM systems dies... honestly who cares?😅
    Though a greatly improved mft camera will also beat the crap out of any concurring apsc line up I guess. not FF though..
