#cathysowinghapiness My acts of kindness, was I sat down at a restaurant to eat. I noticed this Elderly lady was eating alone. She seemed somewhat down. I walked up to her, and asked her if she'd like some company? Her face lit up with a smile. I sat with her, while we ate and talked. She informed me, that her husband of 54yrs had passed away 2wks prior. This was on a Wednesday when we meant. She said every Wednesday for the past 32yrs her and her husband would come and eat at this same restaurant. So I told her, how about us coming here every Wednesday and carry on your tradition? She had tears in her eyes. I told her, that it would be my honor. This was last Wednesday. I've since called her, just to say hello and asked if she needed anything from the store. So I'll be seeing her again this coming Wednesday. I think I've made a great friendship with her. ❤️

Much love, Cathy 💐
Hello. I am a frequent kindness person. I volunteer with people at nursing homes and share my crafts, I will definitely be doing this with them. Thank you for sharing. I have subscribed to your channel and I love rice paper. Now I can make it myself, thanks to your tutorial. You are an Angel.
Absolutely beautiful. I would love to learn more on how to do this. Thank you for sharing. My act of kindness is when my wife and i went out dinner . We had a gift card gifted to us to go out to dinner. We were just getting ready to leave. There was a family and the were trying to buy enough so that they all could it. My wife and I knew that they were struggling. So we had like 15 dollars left . We gave it our waitress to take over to them. They had tears of joy. It warmed my heart. We also gave the waitress a generous tip. She was working to areas and was so stressed. We don't have alot of money, but sharing our gift with the family and our waitress was well worth seeing a smile on their faces. The children were very happy. We both left with our hearts filled with joy. Best thing we did !! Knowing we brightened their day
*** For those of you that don't necessarily like the smooth "back", I was experimenting and found that if I crinkled and crunched up some parchment paper (or whatever type of non-stick paper you're using underneath) instead of leaving it smooth while I applied the glue mixture, the napkin tends to dry a little less smooth. Obviously as your brushing the glue on it's going to flatten things out a little bit but it won't be smooth as glass once it's dry. Also, after I've taken my two napkin layers apart, I stamp on the plain layer and make rice paper out of that one too- apparently there's no stopping me, lol.
Thank you so much Cathy, I really really enjoyed watching you create these amazing and gorgeous pieces of faux rice paper. It’s really really incredible and adorable too..... I’m definitely going to try this out. I really really love ❤️ this. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I loved it🥰💐👍🏼👏👏👏👏 thank you so much for sharing! 🙏🏼🥰💐 Definitely I’ll trying do it for my collage 🙏🏼🥰 my act from kindness, is most every day I talk with old person or with kids, that I don’t know and say beautifully words like : it’s a beautiful blessed day and God bless your day , I said it with confident smile, that they looks like get it very well done! 🙏🏼💐
#cathyshowinghappiness Love your techniques! Having a 5th grade young lady coming over this week to craft! Her momma does not craft so I invited her over! I'm so excited!
Cathy, I love this. I have some napkins that I separated last year but never used, so will definitely try this. My act of kindness is every Sunday I go through the drive-thru at Dunkin' Donuts and I buy the next person a coffee or drink. I've done this for years as someone had done that for me before and I appreciated it very much. Thank you for sharing this faux rice paper technique.
Recently, 3 of my friends attended a short seminar to learn how to use a new app. When I heard they were planning to ask a helper to run out to pick up some lunch, I felt that was inappropriate and just too much to ask of the helper. So I intervened and purchased lunch with delivery for them. They were most grateful. I felt better knowing no one was inconvenienced. And my friends were able to enjoy.
your enthusiasm is catching! I love it. I am just starting to explore the mini-album/journal making world and I absolutely am falling hard for this art, and it is most definately ART! thank you for your fun tutorial.
Cathy...an amazing project. The faux rice paper is awesome. Absolute gorgeousness...WOW FACTOR...can't wait to try this. My act of kindness was to compliment a young lady on her attire because she thought she didn't look good. She is a beautiful young lady and very smart.
Lovely! Kindness--well I try to live each day this way, but right now I'm really trying to show extra kindness and mercy to those working in restaurants, grocery stores, etc. With labor shortage, the wait times and errors are increasing. I curb my annoyance and just express gratitude.
Wonderful idea to use all the napkin, I had wondered what I could do with the extra layers, now I know. My act of kindness was to try and do most all the cooking for my Mother during the holiday. Take the load off of her.
OMG that is the coolest thing, I can’t wait to try it! I often give my basket to someone at Aldi’s and don’t take their quarter. It’s only a quarter but I love the gesture.
What a gorgeous effect and it looks so easy to tint with just about any colour although I love the aged look of the sepia tint. A young lady crossed the road to carry my shopping up the street and I was so touched it made me sob! It was the first time that the roles had been reversed as I used to be the one offering to help old people. I'm 68 but the arthritis probably puts 10 years on me! So please don't be shy, people, either to help or to be helped :)
So nice to learn this technique of faux Rice paper adding coffee. Surely i am going to try this.for me kindness is the was way you talk humbly making someone understand to reply in soft and kind gesture. Simply i don't know you personally but the way you taught us is portraying your personality as a kind andloving person.Hope you stay well and healthy to spread light of encouragement and knowledge.
Oh Cathy! What a wonderful idea!! This is so cool.I will be making some. My act of kindness was helping a mother with a toddler and a baby in the stroller trying to open the doors at the mall. She was so thankful. Congrats to this week's winner. Thank you for sharing. Really love your videos!!!!!
Such a great process for the faux rice papers and I love the blue napkin. Cathy. Thank you. My act of kindness was to send some crafters in other states who couldn't get to the craft shops due to the pandemic some craft supplies. Yvonne
Cathy love your faux paper tutorial I helped alderly chap get on the bus with all his shopping he walked from one 3nd 9f town to the bus stop at the other end I told him he could caught the bus across the road from the shopping centre to travel to the main bus stophe knows for next time.ok kay from rotorua nz

In case y'all didn't know, you don't need to glue first before you put down your napkin. It's easier for me to lay it and then glue it. The glue goes through the napkin real good. Of course you can do it how you like.
My act of kindness is that I let two people use my phone for a digital coupon at Michael’s. One didn’t have a cellphone and the other had an issue trying to load the app.
Yes Cathy, I was going to say the same thing, I saw this lady scrunch up all 4 sides with the wet brush, than wen it drys , the paper is easier to lift off ...
Christine, I have looked every where I keep addresses. I'm not able to locate your address. Try freshcutandlocal@gmail.com I'm sorry I do not have it. Cathy
***When she mentions wax paper I think she means rice paper 😉. I just learned about this the other day and I'm suddenly a girl on a mission... I'm making rice paper out of every napkin I can get my hands on 🤣. My local grocery store was closing out Easter type napkins yesterday and I was like a kid in a candy store... Luckily they are designs that I'll actually use on my table because good heavens, how many pieces of this rice paper does one woman need? Good thing I'm almost out of glue! 😜 Thanks for sharing this because even though I already knew about it, it made me stop on your video which led me to checking out your Etsy shop and your channel and I love them both!!!! (And subbed to your channel)
Your So Cute💜 I Absolutely Love your positivity! I love this project, So Beautiful.I can't wait to try this one. I'm Brand New to soap making and wondering if I can use this as a wrap for my homemade soaps?
Thank you, my act of kindness, we’ve had a lot of flooding her in b.c Canada, my friend lost everything and her and family are stuck in a hotel probably for at least six months , I gave her money to help out
1:15 when paper rolls up again on you, gently take one edge and *carefully roll it in the opposite direction.* When it's a nice rolled scroll, tighten it a little and it should straighten out. Be careful not to put any creases in it.
Could these then be used for collage or would the pva covering hamper the addition of acrylic paints? Loved watching this process and will definitely give it a try.
Jasperpuddingface, yes you can reuse the freezer paper until the wax rubs off. When the wax rubs off the tissue paper and or napkin sticks and rips terribly when your trying to remove it from the freezer paper. 🥰💐

In case y'all didn't know, you don't need to glue first before you put down your napkin. It's easier for me to lay it and then glue it. The glue goes through the napkin real good. Of course you can do it how you like.
Epoxy pigment works well with this technique, but a little goes a long way. ❤
Dena, Something new to me epoxy pigment. 🥰💐

Yes Cathy, I was going to say the same thing, I saw this lady scrunch up all 4 sides with the wet brush, than wen it drys , the paper is easier to lift off ...
🥰💐
Also, if you don't want your glue to reactivate and stick from the weather/heat, use Krylon matte finish 1311.
I have been watching a lot of videos of this technique it is fantastic.
Love the simple one with just the coffee dye. Such a great idea! I won happy Mail as well!
Hi Cathy, I hope you get my email. I have problems with Facebook and instagram! You should have my adresse already if you kept it. Thank you so much.

Can we use the napkins for decoupage?
Thanks, I’m not sure I am understanding what you are asking…
Could these then be used for collage or would the pva covering hamper the addition of acrylic paints? Loved watching this process and will definitely give it a try.
Trish, you can do whatever you like to these … experiment have fun!

That's a beautiful result! What kind of paper did you use as base for this project. Looks sturdy and can be reused eventually ?
Thank you.
Genius! You can get 8 1/2 by 11 freezer paper in a pack. I use it for a few quilting applications.
Hi lovely project can you reuse the freezer paper for another piece of tissue ? Thank You. x
Jasperpuddingface, yes you can reuse the freezer paper until the wax rubs off. When the wax rubs off the tissue paper and or napkin sticks and rips terribly when your trying to remove it from the freezer paper. 🥰💐
Wow! This is so cool! It looks all bendy, or rubbery. How does it feel? I want to try this. I have some Fall leaves napkins. TFS🤗
BONJOUR , hello I'm from FRANCE in the south le Var, I hope that your tutorial is wonderful, and amazing, i love it, i try to do it because i have got a lot of napkins, bye, have a good day my name is stephanie
Hi Stephanie! BONJOUR! Welcome! 💐👋🥰
Wow just came across your channel.
Is that also a napkin the very last gorgeous print.
Welcome to my channel! 💐🥰
I sent an advent activity album to a subscriber
If you use acrylic floor polish instead of glue, you don’t have to worry about the paper reacting to moisture. Spray lacquer also works.
Great idea!! does it get 'sticky' after awhile in your journals? TY
I was wondering the same thing.
Diane, if you use the whit school glue the answer is no it does not get sticky. BUT if you use anything else especially Modpodge yes it gets sticky or I would say tacky. Hope this helps. 💐
Do those get sticky in high humidity?
OMG!!!!! What an excellent tutorial! I loooooooove💕 this idea 💡. I have a question, can you use parchment paper? I may have missed what kind of paper you said you used, did you say freezer paper? I'm so excited to try this. Now to collect napkins lol. TFS 💜🦋 Have a wonderful day.
P.S. I can see how addicting this would be lol.
Any shiny surface will do - plastic bags, freezer paper, etc. I have even used plastic wrap in order to make crinkles lol. It peels right off.
Do u use these as decoupage rice paper?
Hummm Cindy not sure what you are asking me. Could you ask you question again in a different way? 💐
Hello Cathy, first time watching you..I absolutely loved this! You explained really well...I have a question..I can't get butcher paper here (overseas) would wax paper or parchment paper work? Tfs..new subscriber!😍
