A really nice looking set. You are spot on, Sony does an incredible job for the collector with these sets. It’s good that we can debate what films should be in or out, and debate over which films should be in a volume 4. I wish a late great studio that sold its soul to Disney could figure out how to do this for its own library of classic films.
Come on, I know u can’t wait to sing along with Annie ‘the sun will come out…tomorrow, tomorrow” Great review! I may pick this up. Thnx for the insight on the collection
When it comes to Sony's Columbia Classics ... it is class all the way. We own the first two. pre-ordered #3. If anyone is interested in the preservation of Hollywood films, these releases demonstrate Sony's dedication to remastering and its commitment to physical media. We are already looking forward to Volume 4, and are anticipating some big titles on the order of volume 1. So far, you are the first to do an unboxing of Volume 3. October through December look like big months for 4K releases. 4K no longer looks like an experiment ... it looks like they found themselves a winner!
Great packaging as always. Love the other 2 sets. I bought volume 2 super quickly after how quick volume 1 when oop after I got it. Volume 2 was very easy to get for almost a year so I’m not gonna rush with this one. May save it for Christmas
Beautiful set as always, I have the first 2 volumes, might have to wait until next year to get this 3rd one. As it’s beyond my price range at the moment. As for titles for future volumes: - Gilda - The Lady From Shanghai - In a Lonely Place - On the Waterfront - Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner - Easy Rider - Kramer vs Kramer - Tootsie - Philadelphia - Panic Room
I got mine today too and I already saw It Happened One Night. Great set I would say better than 1 but not as good as 2. The packaging is beautiful even though the left tab of mine fell off easily and I noticed that it was just two hot glue dots holding them together. So I want to warn others if that, not to let it fall or hang over. The other 2 sets seemed sturdier than this one. Thankfully some superglue fixed it right up and it’s fine, super easy to get back on. The Last Picture Show and As Good as it Gets are my absolute favorites in this set, glad we got both versions of Last Picture Show since the theatrical cut was last released on VHS and I have yet to see the directors cut. Sad to see it has a stacked disc though rather than a flap like they did with The Social Network. I really hope we get a Volume 4 and 5 set! So many titles to still add to the classics collection!
Mine is on the way to share the shelf with sets 1 and 2. I am most looking forward to From Here to Eternity and To Sir with Love, a sentimental favorite.
Best wait for a price drop. Volume 2 was selling in the $80 range only a couple of months after release and the movies in this set are not nearly as popular or well known as the last two volumes.
Thanks for this! I’ve never seen any of these movies so it might be a pickup at some point. I just have a lot of other things I haven’t picked up yet that I still gotta grab
I agree with you about Annie. It is the eye sore of the collection sorry to say. I was hoping for Tootsie or Midnight Express. Anyway I am getting mine tomorrow.
Hey Adam, I suggest watching the directors cut of The Last Picture Show, it was the only version Criterion released, and is Bogdanovich’s preferred version. It’s just more complete a version if you are watching the movie for the first time and is the intended version to be watched from the filmmaker
That set looks extremely cool im really intersted in stuff like it happened one night and sir with love. Personally I know its not sony but more monty python movies would be cool. but if I had to pick a sony film I would pick v for vendetta what an incredible film.

I cannot wait to get mine. I own the first two and hope Sony keeps doing this collections.
Last Picture Show is all-time greatness.
Thank you Adam.

i think for the Columbia Classics Collection Volume 4 they should have Tootsie 1982 it's a great movie
I can't wait to put this next to 1 and 2 on my shelf.

I just got my copy today, so excited. You are in for a treat with The Last picture Show! It is a gem.

@@ScruffyWarlord Thanks, sorry I didn’t know that.

I'll wait till black Friday sales for this one. Can't justice paying the price it is currently. Most definitely series 1 and 2 was amazing
Would love to see LaBamba, His Girl Friday, and perhaps On the Waterfront in Volume 4.
Just bought mine. Great review
Where did they put the digital copy sheet? Thanks 😊

Gonna eBay for As Good As It Gets -- that's the only one I want from this batch
its nice i want it but only for as good as it gets
I think the titles on Volume 3 are stronger than Volume 2.

I'll wait just a bit until the price comes down some more. I got Volume 2 for $80 new.

Annie is a deal breaker for me.

Still hoping for a taxi driver individual 4k release 🙏
They should do a horror volume they have many for the next volume
The video showing the box is really dark. You needed some lighting on it.
The Last Picture Show and As Good As It Gets are my only interests here, weak...
I find these collections a bit of a force feed. Every one of these sets is personally underwhelming, one or two at best out of each.
Who cares
I don't care about this Columbia collections, but I'm glad for the people who were waiting for them. ✌🏻😺
I'm still waiting for the release of Death Proof on 4K Blu-ray. Hopefully, it will be announced soon. 😓
