I think your first inclination is right. It's not pre-rapala, but I imagine it's from between the switch between the two. I love new stuff, but I love retro stuff just as much. I grew up a hop, skip & a jump from Lake Fork & there used to be a half a dozen little bait shops like that around that area once you got about 5 miles out past the lake or so. Most of them if not all are gone now that the original owners have passed on or retired & got out of it. I'm in Fort Worth now. One of my favorite places to get tackle is at a place called Olsen's Pro Am Fishing Shop near Lake Worth. Not much old stuff left in there, but is still has that old school feel & they do sell stuff made by locals including some in-house made plastics, spinners & buzz baits & other stuff. I did pick up a bunch of older Cotton Cordell Spinnerbaits in there dirt cheap. The cards on them still has the old logo.
Wow, such a great episode. I'm 23 and I'm a self taught fisherman so i really appreciate the history lessons in these lures. I recommend going to garage sales, i bought an old man's tackle box for 25$ filled with old goodies

There used to be a time when department stores had expansive fishing tackle departments for just that reason! I recall isles and isles of tackle at K-Mart and Caldor that would keep my dad busy!
I had an old tackle shop in my town. It was around forever. You could walk through it and go back in time to I'd say the 60s maybe even farther back. Sad thing though it's now just memory, still family owned but got a total restoration and with that all that old tackle got trashed or sold off(at the dumbest prices I had ever seen old junk 1$ lure with no box in a box tangled up with others earned a 3-5$ tag due to it being "vintage" ugh..shops still there just isn't a museum anymore sadly. I wish I would've did a video so I could show it.

They’ve got me stumped!
My wife knows if there’s a tackle shop in some random town we hit. that she can just drop my ass off and come back when she’s done with her shopping. Nice find.
There used to be a time when department stores had expansive fishing tackle departments for just that reason! I recall isles and isles of tackle at K-Mart and Caldor that would keep my dad busy!
And she knows you're going to be there on return. Also I do remember Woolworths stocking tackle.
Aka… Cranfield bait shop. My home town. Love that shop.
Where’s that???
@@RetroBassin The tackle shop in the video is what us locals called Cranfield bait shop. Mountain Home is an amazing place to live. I grew up there.
Place is awesome
Happy new year from Germany!
Greeting from across the pond, good buddy!
I saw all the retro tan Plano tackle boxes badass
I think I have as many tackle boxes as I do lures...
I would of had to buy every one of those original gator tail worm they had I absolutely love those worms
The crawfish is made by Storm...it came from when rapala first bought storm and they came out with some new baits under the storm name that came in those yellow boxes...the best from that time period I think most would agree is the Subwart
I actually have two of the old tornado spinnerbaits that my dad bought me when I was like 10.
Ofc you get one to leave on the card lol! Keep a complete one and fish off the other! When possible of course.
Soo..... I see the hat and the hoodie......
I own a 1979 original bass tracker 40hp merc. It’s pretty much the oldest one.
I think the craw was a Lurh Jensen
I will look that up! Thanks good buddy!

You need to go to Bacons Tackle in Shreveport La
