As crazy as the world is today, it brings a smile watching a fellow fisherman show authentic appreciation for classic fishing lures. So cool. Turn off the news folks, watch these videos on old lures instead. It will actually make you smile.
Rainbow Tackle is known for making the Adjust-a-bubble. Clear bobber you add water to that allows you to cast flies and micro jigs in spinning/baitcasting reels. Killer down here to catch monster Nile Tilapia. Bass too...
That is the shop I used to go to when I worked a couple blocks away on the Platte River running through Denver. I used to live on Evans Avenue. They used to have really cheap waders that were repaired back in the 90's. There was an entire back room full of rubber waders. I remember they had piles of cheap junk for us fishermen. Litterally piled up. Place looks cleaner now.
Dude I have a Canadian wonder on my key chain! My grandpa gave me my very first tacklebox when I was 7, one of the lures inside was a Canadian wonder. I’m pretty sure it’s the last lure I have that he gave to me. I took the hook off it maybe ten years ago and carry it with me to this day. I never wanted to fish with it and lose it. I’ve never seen another one
Happy Birthday! It was cool seeing those Mister Twister Sassy Shad & the G-Grubs with the ridge all the way down the body. Have not seen those in ages.
I have rediscovered a happy place from my childhood by finding your channel.keep up the great videos and Thanks for making me need a Bigger tackle box LOL!
At the 2:30 mark you hold up a Crankbait Coporation Fingerling crankbait in the reverse counter shaded chrome color. Before there was the Lucky Craft Pointer, this was my favorite rip bait. Its a foam injected slow sinking bait. Tom Seward designed it along with a ton of other baits, most notably the Speed Trap by Luhr Jensen. He invented the first foam bait called the Natural Ike. About a minute later you hold up a Rebel Fastrac crankbait in the brown craw color. That bait is from about the mid 1980's I think, and is great. Its one of the few flatside crankbaits that you can burn, along with the Speed Trap. Hope you bought those 2 lures, as they are golden.
Thanks for the intel, Gary! Bass Fishing Archives just did a great story on Tom Seward’s lures. And I left those two on the rack for some Bassin’ Bud to snag…
The Buoyant spoons by Thomas are dynamite on trout, panfish, etc. They have an extremely erratic wobble. My middle son was catching stocker rainbows on it all day, then got it hung up in a tree and lost it. No more trout. They wouldn't hit a Mepps, Rooster Tail, spoons, etc. There's something about it that just flat out catches fish. I learned about them back in early 2000 fishing the Red River in AR.
Thomas Boyount Spoons are trout killers and the Canadian Wonders are trolling spoons. Both staples in the PNW. I'm certain the European Mepps are extremely rare and old. Never seen the card or bag packaging. Great video and great stuff!
Love waking up to new a Retro Bassin' video on Saturday morning. Those Thomas Bouyant spoons are pretty popular for trout in Arkansas. That place is a good mine for old school tackle. Those Blackstars are sweet! Happy Birthday too!
Likely being someone that travels various places; you likely just scraped the surface of the treasures you might find. What you might find on tackle shelves in small private owned sporting goods stores still around seems as fun for you as fishing itself.Happy Birthday!
I really need to email them and see if they sold those AirBob bobbers yet! I have a couple of them that I got from my grandpap and found randomly, and I absolutely love them! They cast really well, and when the fish bites they zap into pointing at it (since they're inline with the line) and let you know exactly where it's coming from and where it's going. Definitely my favorite bobber, with the old wooden egg bobbers in 2nd.
20:15 I've been looking for something like that Cabelas used to sell... the tail was more like a giant fin on the back that became the tail at the end... beautiful swirling swimming action, and I haven't found them in a LONG time of poking around shops to find something similar.
Hi, new subscriber from Canada here, sad as it is now I know 90% of my lures are old school, I am a sucker for clearance and consignment fishing stuff. I even have the instant fisherman rod, Great video.
I spied a Meps black Fury Yellow dot w/Bucktail. Caught my PB bass 5+ Lb'er on that Baby. And Still have 2 of those in my tackle bag. Under-Spin Don't get No Love these days.
This is definitely one of my favorite tackle shops. Good mix of everything freshwater. Another great store in Denver is the Outdoorsman’s Attic. It’s a consignment shop of hunting, fishing, and camping gear.
I used those red and white Daredevils fishing for trout when I lived in New Mexico with my Dad back in the 70's. Such an awesome old lure. Another good one is the "Little Cleo" Gold and Maroon anodized spoon. Did you see any of those in that store? I'd like to get my hands on a few of those. Great video!
Those yellow daredevils with red or black diamonds are called the 5 of diamonds. For example- Yellow/red 5 of diamonds and yellow/black 5 and of diamonds
@@RetroBassin You know it's funny...I'm about the same age as you and I remember my dad always having Sassy Shad in the tackle box as a kid...I'll be honest, I didn't think that highly of them (I was more a beetlespin kinda guy)....anyways, it's funny how 30 years later all the sudden the market is flooded with "swim baits"...the first time I ever saw one I said "oh, that's a sassy shad!"
I love your show. I’ve gone back and I am watching your library. I love it. But. Please consider this as friendly, in order to improve your channel, however only in my humble opinion for whatever this may mean. First, I would not use this song. I know you likely wrote it, and sang it, and have attachments to it, but… Second the glasses. Once in a while, outside maybe. It feels rude. I know that is NOT what you meant. I just see a guy indoors with glasses and a hat, and it should be removed. I am old fashioned. See the irony? The over use of the terms “old school” and “awesome”. I do hope this is not taken harshly. It is not meant, in any way, to be rude. Warm regards from a big Canadian fan.

Year's ago I found Black Star for a 1.99$ apiece I bought one in every color the only one that I caught fish on was the black one !!!!!!

Eureka! What a birthday present for an old school lure fool like me and you!
The lures weren’t the only thing old school in there, Eric!
Looks like a great place to dig around 👍
It would be RIGHT up your alley, Alex!
I still use some Terminator Snapbacks that are at least 15 years old. They were a cool bait. Super tough bait that was almost indestructible
I love old fishing gear !!!!!!!!
