Your straight friend is a unique guy. I think he is very comfortable with himself...with his sexuality...so he is not intimidated by other straight guys who would mock him for hanging with a gay guy. That's very impressive.
You can be comfortable with yourself and your sexuality and still not want to be mocked by other guys. Plus, what if it turns off girls?

As for girls being turned off by a guy who has gay friends, the friend in this video doesn't seem like a person who would be interested in such a girl. I hope he isn't. It would be best if the girl shows her unsavory values early in the game so he can dump her sometime between the initial lust and the onset of a sticky attachment.
@@Mikerochip1 , it's not about being turned off. Many girls will think he is gay if he hangs around gay men. Some gay men even think a man is gay or bisexual if he hangs around gay men. Girls won't dislike him, but they probably will think he is gay or bisexual and won't date him.

My 2 closest friends are straight, and they have both done a great job trying to understand gay issues and be respectful of what we go through. I couldn't imagine 2 greater friends to have.

I’m straight but i dont have friends at all
Being a Scandinavian guy (Iceland) from a very traditional Norse pagan family i felt a lot of pressure to be that masculine dude, but as i got older that pressure started to really get to me, so when i was in 10'th grade i talked to my friends about it (which was the first time i was open about my feelings) and decided i was done with pretending to be something i clearly wasn't and much to my surprise my friends were completely ok with it especially the guys. At that time it was pretty out of the ordinary and looked down upon to not be that macho dude in Scandinavia. I'm very proud of gay people for having such courage and bravery to accept their sexuality despite the seemingly insurmountable odds and prejudice, because believe me I've been through a similar situation and its not in the least bit easy.

I have a straight guy best friend and he knows I am gay. And like he flirts with me in a joking way. It is actually kinda cute watching him do it, and then sometimes he will say something and look at me and be like I am so sorry is that offensive?
My friend group is all straight guys, and they didn't care that I was gay. In fact, they carried on as if nothing changed and I believe I am "one of the boys".
He's like the nicest guy. He's struggling at some point to express his thoughts but you'd know what he means. It's true that gays can be one of the boys but there are boundaries that we need to maintain to keep that friendship. Nothing is more admirable than guys claiming their straight and still fully respect gays without any insecurities about their identity.
I love how the gay guy felt compelled to stop everything and explain why they're both looking so sweaty. Hahahaha Awesome

almost all my friends are straight guys i went to an all boys catholic high school. and we’re still friends in college so thats all i know. a lot of girls always try and get me to act a certain way so they can have the gay friend THEY want but i'm not gonna fundamentally change everything about my personality for someone thats crazy

Yes I do have a straight guy best friend, but I have never been in the “boys” ya know? Like I have never been in a group of boys just chilling and hangout. Most boys I meet were kinda homophobic so I have more best friends who are girls.

@5:36 as a gay guy you absolutely can be "one of the boys" you need to realize that you are gay and you are many other things too. I love to cook, sports, working out, 4 wheeling, and my husband. So just like anything else in this day and age you'll be accepted in 99% of any "click" the trick is you have to make sure that you have more than 1 interest (being gay) the straight boys will exclude you (and they should) if your only interest in life is your gay identity.

Thom35UO yeah all my friends know I’m gay. I’m not one to be in the closet lol. Most military really don’t care tbh. They all have told me that there my friend because of how I am as a person. Civilians on the other hand, idk not as accepting as they think

I served during the don’t ask don’t tell era. Which I know is a large era so let’s shrink it down to 02-11’. We often knew who was gay in the company to served in. Male or female. Many where open (lower enlisted) and even while I was on my second deployment to Iraq I simply didn’t care. My thinking was alway you do your job. You keep your team mates safe. You volunteered for this life. We are cool. You enter my orbit to keep safe (as a infantry medic all my year) and I learn or suspect you to be gay? Doesn’t change what my benchmark is to consider you someone I can trust or respect. I’ll just be here doing my think you make sure you go home safe and you do the same. I was happy as fuck when don’t ask don’t tell was abolished and service members could be themselves. I saw to many fantastic people in uniform leave the military because they couldn’t be openly gay and make military a career and go up in rank for fear of being gay affecting their military life. Not because of perception, because of policy and as you move up in rank people will look for ways to remove the competition at times.

I am gay and I have a straight friend that I spend a lot of time with. We laugh and joke but absolutely no attraction for each other. He is married, a couple kids and a cop ......he is a good clean cut honest guy. I like that in a person. Wish I had gay friends with no pretenses, totally straight forward and relaxed in their own skin........!
I'm a 43 ye old straight guy who has straight friends but also has gay friends and sometimes if we go out ,sometimes we might end in a gay bar, straight people often avoid gay bars because they have the wrong impression of what it will be like . you do get given compliments which is always good of anybody, it makes you feel good about yourself . Sometimes if you tell a gay guy your straight, they often apologize and walk away which is respectful .sometimes they want to hang around with you anyway just as a possible future friend . My friends are my friends wherever they are gay or not .nobody is treated differently and everyone's one of the boys .

To his point about being close with another guy but not gay, back in my younger days (80's) if you hugged a guy you were both automatically thought to be gay and rumors would fly. It happened to me and my best friend eventhough people already knew we were best friends. So refreshing to see guy friends not be afraid to be close with another bud.
Yes, back when I was in high school, two male friends would go to the movies on the weekend but would sit a seat apart because if they sat directly next to each other they were considered gay, and the whole town would start talking. I still remember the first two guys that dared to sit next to each other, with their heads together, talking and laughing, through the whole movie, because they decided they just didn't care what anyone thought. They were good friends of mine, by the way. And they said if they couldn't sit together and enjoy the movie, then there was no point to even go. Several small-minded bullies tried to give them a hard time in school the following week, calling them faggots, boyfriends, etc, to which they responded in the best way possible which was to ask the bullies if they were jealous, or to say "sorry, youre just not my type, man, but im sure you'll find someone" etc. The bullying didn't even last 2 days as I recall. And they weren't gay, just best friends. Theyre still friends to this day, 30-plus years later. I look at my kids and their friends and how free they are with their affection with one another and am so glad they didnt grow up in that time!

Almost all of my friends end up being straight. I think it's because of where I grew up and that connection to people has stayed with me. I try to also be friends with others in the LGBT community because I think it's important for us to have those connections in order to grow and evolve. Thanks for the video Chris. I do have a straight best friend and he actually shocked me last night, I got really drunk and I was in depression drunk phase and feeling suicidal and he actually held me in his arms and just held me for the rest of the night. I never thought that would happen between us. And now hes just constantly checkin up on me n telling me that he loves me, which is nice cuz most of the time I feel like a nobody.

I'm gay and have a straight friend I hang out a lot with who allows me benefits as a one-sided (me on him) relationship. I don't mind it being one-sided because over the years with all the STD's it might have saved my life because I wasn't going out to bars looking for a one-night stand. Our relationship as friends has been going on for over 30 years. p.s. I also found out my straight friend is more loyal as a true friend and down to Earth than some of these guys I've met in bars who seem so flakey, moody, needy, and fragile. You two guys seem perfect for each other. It's just a matter of time before you two get hitched.

Pretty much all of my best friends are straight. I have a few gay friends about two or three I consider close but the rest all straight. It just worked out that way. My closest gay friend passed away 5 years ago. I think about him all the time and wish he was still here. He was the first person I ever officially came out to. Once we came out to each other we were like brothers, lots of long phone calls talking about boys. It was awesome and for the most part saved my life. My straight friends have been pretty cool, too, tho. I've been very lucky in that way. I love them all.

my closest friend is straight, he is the first person that I talked to about being gay (I also had a crush on him, that we still joke about) and this was 27 years ago when we were at university together. He really helped me in my coming out process.

Idk about other gay people but I've always felt a little out of place among gays because I very much feel masculine inside.. when I was a kid, I liked to play in the dirt, and ride bikes, and scrape my knees, and fight.. I still do. I just happen to not be attracted to females.. Most of my bros are straight guys, I honestly personally don't get along with as many gay guys as you would think. So yes, a gay guy can be "one of the boys" because that's still my crowd of choice and I find that most straight guys my age are at least respectful. But many straight guys have told me before that I just hit different from a lot of other gay guys lol. I just know respect comes first so I never hit on a guy if they're not comfortable with it. I'm not one of those in your face flamboyant fem gays.. I have nothing against that, but that's simply not me.

Hello! this is the first ever video of yours that I've watched, and m gay so... to answer your question, YEP I do have straight guy friends (A LOT actually haha) in terms of Best Friend, I have 2 and we're comfortable to one another. We're all friends for almost 5 years, From Senior High up to now even when we go to different colleges we're still close. We consider ourselves as platonic friends tho :)
I try to always have a straight friend that I can talk with, without it turning sexual between us. I feel free to talk about anything with them.

All my close GUY friends are (or were) straight! n fact, My past and (present) boyfriend,were straight, when i met them ! No, i didn't come on to them, they came on to me,. So, you asked a question there at the end of the video asking if us gay guys have a straight guy as a friend/best friend. Well, to be 100% honest, that’s the only friends I have are straight guy friends. My bestest best friend, Jason, is by far the best person I know on this planet! He and his gf are suuuch amazing friends to me, they even made up a spare guest bedroom just for me for whenever I need to stay the night bc I’ve had a few too many drinks or just want to sleep over. He took me fishing last Sunday and helped me catch my first bass! But truly I have other friends that are all straight guys and we’re all so close that they even tell me I love you whenever I’m leaving. But yeah, I’m definitely cool with straight guys and they’re the same way back.

Most of my friends are straight guys. I've always felt more comfortable in general with male friends, straight or gay, than with female friends. It may be that I'm misogynistic, though I hope not! I do and have had many woman friends, but I just get along easier with guys, always feel like it's easier to cut through the b.s., and just love my bros in general.

When I was in HS yeah my best friend was straight. I grew up in a very rural area and the gay population was very thin. Now, I dont think that has so much meaning for me. Like Calvin, I an ultra selective and have very few real friends.
