First time I heard this song, it immediately brought me back to my days captaining crew, utility, and supply boats along the Gulf Coast. This included running out of Freeport and Galveston in the early’ 80’s. It brought tears to me thinking how hard the work was and the lack of safety in those days. There were also good days as well. One of my favorite songs. Thank you.
Man.. Kevin’s story about the song and when it finally hit just adds to much to the entire song and the meaning of it all. So happy for him, the band, and his parents!
Oh man, this is so sad, i knew that it was bad, and Uncle Lucias was so heartfelt ,,,i new when he wrote this !!!
I'm a old pipe fitter and I'm facing the lung problems losing half capacity wow that's my song too thank 5
And I've been fighting for my settlement for years dam nuclear plants hard to fight
I just watched when sang this song 10 years ago…man time gets us all.
I'm so glad you finally got paid. This is one of my top 10 favorite songs of my life
I know Kevin won’t see this, but as a man of 52 grew up and worked farm then onto trucking , now on heavy plant, that’s one hell of a story, so sad and hard hitting but it’s always hard in life, ❤
Stay real, I like my music but I love this thank you sir , and good luck and good health to you and your family , ps only discovered you musi yesterday
I love every minute of it........I lived in Houston....used to fish in Galveston Bay and Texas City when i was a kid. My dad was a foreman for Altair construction and worked in the tanks too!!!
Uncle L, we all wish you and the band would release your own version owned by only yall,,,, you would be taken care of by your longstanding fanbase wholeheartedly sir!!!💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
If you ever work in the plants, damn this hits home!
God bless you man. Most awesome song. Blessings to your folks too.

Yeah that whole story is intense. Topping it off at going platinum. Good for them.
God Bless underground music man
The backstory was very appreciated
A great Texas song fits so well up here in Alberta too!
FREEPORT!! Lived there from 1970 - 1981!! Moved "All the Way" (lol) To Lake Jackson.
Dude sounds better live than on the video. Sheesh
In tears. So heart felt.
I have definitely added to the view count on the UA-cam video of Keep the Wolves Away. You are so authentic Kevin. God Bless you. I love that song.
Word
We need more Uncles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow such an awesome story! I've always loved this song as I was my childhood as well. I almost lost my dad when I was young. I got the call he wouldn't make it through the night and he is now still alive!
Freeport water smells foul is an understatement, great song
Great song and the story brought a tear to my eyes. Glad to hear about the success.. God bless you and your family.
The story he tells in this vs the song, is what I feel book lovers feel when they watch a movie. There’s so much more to the story, but somehow he tells the whole story with much less words.
Wow! I’ve never seen this before. I never knew that this was a true story. Unbelievable! Kevin! (My sons name btw), you are my hero! Luv u man! You have a big heart!!!! ❤
This song is so good, this song hits some type of way once you become your own father. Man, now it’s my time to keep the wolves away… that’s real. Thanks for making an awesome song brother, you’ve inspired us all
I recently came across this song, never listened to this type of music but I absolutely love it.
Glad I came across it
I can’t get enough of this song!!
Never seen Yellowstone dont know how I came across this song but i love it and I'm so glad things worked out like they did for them, man they deserve it! Cheers to the working class and so glad to hear his father is still alive and doing well!
i had already seen the video and new the song and the truth about it ….the fact is that most times true genius and brilliance will get it’s time in the sun and this so deserved it … the lyrics the song and the singing combine into beauty
Awesome, my son sent the video to me after his stepdad passed away leaving me alone hard to make ends meet my son would help me around the house and put up a servalence camera when i had a stalker.
Wow, bless you. Thank you for sharing this heartbreaking and heartwarming story. Wishing your loved ones the best.
Beautiful!! Thank you Kevin for this story behind this song and the Yellowstone part! Also that’s Jeb for sending to me & introducing me to his music!! Hope to catch him back over there in Riverton 😊
Kevin, we moved to Oyster Creek in ‘79. Moved across the River by Capt Elliots in ‘80.
Your description of the town blew me away. When I get down, I’ve begun listening to this to take me back to a life I’ll never live again. Thanks

Thank you so much for making a great song
Met Kevin in Roswell NM at Applebees after his gig in town ,he could not have been a more grounded thankfull person the kind you root for, it was a pleasure to hear him tell the story about this song about a tragic family accident that he never had intended to be used in such a way, all the best to you and your family Kevin
This song always hits home for me. Growing up in southeast TX to nothing but refineries. My father has been a slave to his job since I was a kid at those same refineries. May God be with them all and keep them safe. It’s a job a lot of people don’t understand the critical risk of it all. It’s very dangerous. I thank God for giving me my dad. Even when the wolves were at our door he did his best to keep them away. Love you dad
So powerful - the music, the story and meaning behind the song! Thank you!
Jesus Christ what a story
Wow, this song definitely hits so much harder after hearing that story.. props to everyone
We too shall overcome! Thank you brother!

Badass!
Stink-a-dina. Layed pipe from Halletsville to that area. God bless the men that work there.
Stellar!
It’s a great song for all working men it’s from the heart
Yup, not the things that happen to you - How you respond is the measure. Bravo Sir.
That’s amazing!❤
Thank you. God Bless you and your Family. Beautiful
I cry everytime I listen to this song. Like the dad in it, my dad worked so hard to keep my sisters and I clothed, fed and warm. He's still around, in his 70s and I thank him for everything every chance I get.
This song.
Thank you very much for telling the story of your father. The song is a wonderful piece of music.
Thank you for sharing your story and I can relate to this..awesome
Great song
I know your story.
I lived it in Corpus Christi when a valve failure sprayed my father with 800° products on his left side.
Like you, Mom pulled all four of us out of bed and to E.R.
Mother went to see Dad, and a nurse sat with us.
We were not allowed to see him because the Dr's. Yes, Dr's believed it would be traumatic to us.
They were right.
My father spent four months in the burn unit, we listened to Mother cry every night.
Every night
How do you sleep when your MOTHER CRYS EVERY NIGHT!
Such a great stroy!
This is what real Life is all about.
Literally
Nice
Nice song

Song starts @ 10:36
im from the area, and the same age as this man. i dont remember the spill. anyone know what chemical spill this was?
Everyone has a story - but some are a bit tougher than others. I guess if I had studied psychology I could answer why the impact of adversity at a young age is typically not felt or understod until later in life. A mystery in my eyes for sure. Being a kid in a lower class growing up in the late 50's and 60's - wow; the things my sister and I had to endure. Good one day, bad the next. And we never knew when those bad days were coming. But it made us strong.
Thanks Kevin for sharing a part of your life that set the stage for future thoughts. ☣🚑🚒
I heard UL might be getting back together?
