    I got these about 4 years ago as I began "collecting" portable audio devices..... I have replaced the pads once in that time ($15 on AMZ) and I have to say they are excellent Mid-Fi headphones with solid, punchy lows along with slightly veiled mids and highs. In terms of build quality, I used these daily working outside in all kinds of weather and with the exception of the sweat-destroyed earpads, I have seen no breaks or cracks in the frame, band etc. If you power them thru an Amp/DAC, the sound scales up very well. Along with the Koss Sporta Pros and the Venture Monk earbuds, these offer excellent sound quality on a budget.....

    I just bought these based on all the great reviews but the first thing I notice is my cups are MUCH thinner than yours, seems like almost half the size. I'm going to need to get deeper pads for sure because my ear touches the driver and that's uncomfortable for long term use.

      Hmmm i wonder if they started to get some cheaper parts. I noticed the price of them dropped from the price i originally paid.

      Yea I had a 3-4 year old one and I wanted to get a new one since it wore off. I was expecting to get the same headphones but its half the size and pads are absolute shit. Sound is worse as well (compared to the og version) I want to return them but their customer service is non existent lol even though they say “30 day return no questions asked” you cant return it cause you can’t get a hold of customer service.

    overall, with a newer pair of these, would you recommend them, regardless of competition, focused just on sound quality.

    • @poutineitup9510
      @poutineitup9510  3 роки тому

      Idk it is hard to recommend these unless I feel they will last. The mid range is reduced which forces me to raise the volume a bit which of course makes them sound much more base heavy. I think there are other pairs that would suit you better especially in the long run. Wired headphones you should expect much longer expected life

      @@markshinkai598 I can't really say unfortunately. All my headphones are over $100. I would suggest you check out used headphones on craigslist. You can get a good deal on decent headphones. For wired headphones they should last a long long time so just inspect them carefully and try them out before buying them. I heard sony and beats headphones are more base heavy but I don't have personal experience. Good luck!!

    I got them in 2018 and I love them. But the pads are starting to wear down. I was wondering if you had any good recommendations for pads that don't affect sound quality too much

    • @poutineitup9510
      @poutineitup9510  2 роки тому

      Unfortunately I don’t have any recommendations for specific pads. I would avoid velour pads since the headphones were built for the current pads so changing the type of material to something that is very different can drastically change the sound stage. I made that mistake with my AKG K550’s

      $33 is a cheap price and almost disposable but if you watched my other videos on either the sennheiser hd6xx or the hd569 headphones I would suggest taking your $33 and getting one of those. If you want a close back pair then the hd569. If you want the best sound with open backed bread phones then go for the hd6xx’s. The hd6xx’s are also on sale

      @Poutine It Up those are close to 250 quid here in the UK though and a bit out of my price range considering Christmas is coming up so I can't really justify spending that much on myself ATM unfortunately but maybe I could ask the hubby....I just wanted something cheap to experience the sound of something more professional to see if there's a huge difference in my listening experience before I jump in feet first and splurge.... I've heard that vintage akg's or the ones that look like cheap copy's are also good but I forget the name atm? 😆

      @@MsBabylove11 I hear ya. I did the same thing and thought I could get “studio monitors” for a discount and not have to pay the price of the hd6xx’s. In the end I bought the hd6xx’s after all so I basically just wasted the money on the cb-1’s. I never mind too much having multiple pairs of headphones so I brought them to work but when the head band started to break I had to spend more money which is how I landed with the hd569’s. A good pair of wired headphones will last a really a long time and save you money in the long run.

    Dude, 15 to 20 years? You are an optimistic dreamer aren’t you? I don’t have a pair of anything that is electronic and still in use after 15 years! Nothing, not even a toilet brush. Which obviously isn’t even electronic. I would be thrilled with two years! And I when they break, if the sound is still good, I’ll fix them., not with duct tape either! There are plenty of plastic repair products out there and there is always ordering parts for a small fee. They are reference monitor headphones, not meant for the average music listener. I have plenty of high end music enjoying headphones, these are not that, and aren’t meant to be. I’m not trying to insult you, I just think you missed the whole purpose of this product. To anyone else reading this, you can replace the cord AND the ear pads, and as reference monitor closed back headphones, are way worth $69 which is what they are this particular day. Two years and you don’t recommend them? They work better than my Beyer, AT and definitely anything else in this price range! I’m getting ready to buy two more just in case, then I’ll use the ones I’m using now for parts if I have too. I know it’s my personal opinion, I just disagree with everything but being plastic, sure I wish they were metal, but it is what it is. Peace

    • @poutineitup9510

      Hey you are entitled to your opinion but if I spent my hard earned cash on a pair of wired headphones, with no built in batteries for noise cancelling
      to go bad, then I would mad if they broke after only 2 years of use. Now for $60 and 2 years of use it may be worth it but for me I would rather spend $150-$250 for a better pair of headphones that lasts a lot longer. It is just my opinion and you do what you want to do with your money. Neither is right nor a wrong direction to take. All preference.

      @@poutineitup9510 actually $69 now, or $79 without the Amazon coupon, and who knows how long that will last. My expectations just aren’t that high for durability I guess these day’s. I told you I wasn’t insulting you, I just disagree with your assessment. My opinion is they are well worth even $79, with extra cord and spare pads and 4 yr it was 129. I got two more in the mail today. These have outlasted all my reference headphones by a long shot. Every good review of these are from musicians, the CB-1 are flat, very flat and that at this price, is well, priceless. It’s just my opinion dude, I’ll pay any price for a clean mix but when it’s this inexpensive, it’s a thumbs up by me. I want to point out one more thing, wired only is hard to find and useless to most new phones so other than mixing our podcasting, they are a bad choice anyway. Peace
