If you've never heard of Status Audio before, you're not alone; they're a direct consumer company, who sells exclusively online. They utilize minimum advertising and branding to keep prices low. What you get is a generic looking headphone, but what they lack in general materials, they make up in audio performance and affordability.
The CB1s use a lightweight, plastic construction, that isn't particularly glamorous, but still feels sturdy. You will not find a travel case that comes with the CB1s, but are packaged with two cables: a 10-foot straight cable and a more compact, coiled cable.
The CB1s certainly aren't the most stylish or best sounding over-the-ear headphones out there, but for the sound quality you get for $79, the Status Audio CB1 Studio Monitor Headphones are great if you're on a budget.

I own cans that are easily 5 times the cost of the CB1s and while they may edge out them in certain listening scenarios nothing even comes close to the value these cans provide. For sound and comfort nothing I have ever tried (looking at you m40x) even comes close at the price point.

How do they compete with the m40x in terms of sound leakage? Cornered if used to record a screencast if the mic might pick up the headphones.

Status ob and cb 1 are one of the best sounding headphones that is underpriced and underrated

I'd throw the phillips Shp9500 in there. You can sometimes see them for 50-60$ on newegg.

Flatish yep! They work great with the newer controller. Also if you can find the cable with the mic Status sells, you can use it as a cheap headset. But it also works with boompro I think. They are great for gaming!

These feel like cheap plastic. ATH m40x is better option for slightly more $$
