To the Resident Historian, when my great, great grandparents came to Glasgow, they were welcomed by the Clyde. While she may have some not so memorable times, I still love her.
47 years young and knew nothing about the SS Daphne, and finally early for once usually I'm a few months behind on your videos lol, thanks for all your uploads mate 😊
As a Shipwright who took part in launches both on and under the ships, I found this video very interesting. I knew about the Daphne but it was good to see you cover the disaster. Well done and thank you very much.
Thank you once again for an excellent post, my wife and I love Glasgow and I use your superb knowledge to help us navigate our favourite city to visit, keep up your fantastic work educating and entertaining us
Thanks for another great video. Also a real blast from the past as we used to have a flat in Homefauldhead place and I cycled through the tunnel twice a day! That was 40 years ago!
i remember a few years ago my brother in law got us into the yards me and the kids it was 1 of them navy ships they just built ,and the chains failed it hit the other embankment ,i was like i come to watch a ship launch and it nearly sinks ,cheers matey :)
My first run through the tunnel I shot off after getting through the gate. I was doing about 30 when I got to where it curved to the right and was saved by sliding along the wall. I now stick to the limit........ Kind of.
Its also a lot easier when not doing it one handed. I had to hold the camera in my right hand and work my brake carefully with my left which also meant I couldnt change gear for the way back up.
Thanks
Knew nothing about the SS Daphne how very sad such a tragedy.
Grateful Thanks Dave for another amazing video.

Such interesting stories about John Harper and also the SS Daphne.
Great wee video again, Nicely done. That part in Victoria park, I remember as a kid there being wee boats for hire. Long gone now sadly.

Nee history. Love this
Glad to have a distraction from the awful shit elsewhere for 12 minutes.
Need to get yourself a wee boat.
The most important question - what's been your top speed on a Clyde Tunnel descent? 🙂

The church I am a member of, Hope Community Church Barlanark, was planted by the church John Harper planted, now called Harper Memorial Church.
Should have renamed her SS Daftie
SS Daphne. People? *Men (or lifeforms that identify as male) 😏 it's only the second half of cycling the tunnel that's a hassle 😊
Is it easier when you're cycling down the map?

@@orraman5427 the tunnel goes down before it goes up. Like many other tunnels 😉
@@AstonishingGlasgow yikes. Tricky. Luckily you're as fit as a violin 🎻
One of my relatives William Mason 16 years old was killed in this incident
Knew nothing about the SS Daphne how very sad such a tragedy.
