The line ”I’ll soon be turning, round the corner now” gets to me every time. Freddie was dying. His doctors thought he would be dead by this point. When Brian and Freddie were writing the lyrics Brian suggested they change the name of the song for obvious reasons. Freddie said no. Brian said this was Freddie’s greatest performance. How he hit that note in his frail condition the band members don’t know. He was in so much pain. You need to really appreciate this performance. Go read up on it to get the full appreciation of what you are listening to. I highly doubt any other performer in Freddie’s condition could have or would have done this.

      Me too, as well as
      Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark, I'm aching to be free, poor poor Freddie he was hounded by the press at the end and was aching to be free, hence why he held Montreux in a special place in his heart as he was left in peace RIP Freddie

10:19, Brian May has said that when they were recording, Freddie was so ill and frail that he had to prop himself on the mixing desk and he was unsure if Freddie was going to be able to hit that high note. But Freddie just grabbed a bottle of vodka, chugged it, forced himself up and said the immortal line, ‘I’ll fucking do it, darling!’ and he nailed it in one take.

to be more clear, Freddie recorded a section in one take, not the whole song.

I really miss Freddie. Imagine what he would’ve been doing all these years. The music we lost.

„That track was strange - recalls Brian. I did the most of the lyrics for Freddie to sing and you can imagine what that felt like. I did ask him at one point if he was okay about it and he said, Yeah, totally okay about it. I will give it my all. And he did. He sang, I think, some of the best vocals of his life on that track, and most of the tracks on that album are incredible. He really was getting very weak by that time, but he could still summon up that strength to sing.” - Brian May

This song was recorded in 1990 and released in October 1991….. one month before Freddie passed. Brian said that Freddie was in so much pain at the time that he could hardly stand up and had to prop himself up on the desk to sing . Brian wasn’t sure if he would be able to sing it…… but as you can hear for yourself…..Freddie with his incredible voice …… made this song a masterpiece. Love Freddie ❤. Thank you for all your Queen reactions.

Freddie was gravely ill when he recorded this and couldn't even stand up, he had to sit down at the mixing desk. Brian wrote this song and was concerned and worried that Freddie couldn't sing it, to which Freddie gulped down a large measure of Vodka and said "I'll f***ing well do it dahling" and smashed it in one take, hard to believe when you listen to his vocals in this song it was one of a dying man. He unfortunately passed away before this song was released hence the official video is a mash-up/compilation of all their previous videos. RIP Freddie you were and STILL are a LEGEND. Stay safe from Manchester UK [Queen fan for nearly 40 years and having had the privilege of seeing them live 3 times]

He was near death at this time but you would not be able to tell from the strength of his voice. He worked right up to his death.

Ok. It's about time you listen to "Barcelona" preformed by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe (a famous spanish opera singer - who sadly passed away a few years ago). It was produced as a celebration for the Olympics in Barcelona over 36 years ago. The Live version will blow your mind.

Ok….Brian May wrote this song to reflect on Freddie’s illness and impending death and Freddie’s desire to record as much music as he possibly could before his death. Freddie was way too ill to do a music video, so they created a video with clips of old videos and concert footage. This song is amazing considering Freddie was only months from death and his voice is still incredible ❤❤

Nick can't wait to get Gabe's reaction to either the Psychedelic Tomorrow Never Knows or the Indian mystic The Inner Light or for a laugh the two minute beauty And I Love Her ( please from the movie A Hard Day's Night ) . Love it when he has to admit his errors on the early stuff. Like to see your feedback to ! Always good to have a sound man in control with the Beatles songs .😹

Rap + Rock = Run-D.M.C. plus Aerosmith 1986 (1975) -- Public Enemy plus Anthrax 1991 (1988) -- Judgement Night Film Soundtrack 1993 = Collab -- Beastie Boys "Licensed to Ill" 1986 also considered one of the first Rap Rock albums. Mike Myers is Canadian, of course he knew who Queen was

I actually like the ending, as the slow fading echo closes the whole Innuendo album pretty well, I think. 🙂
It's a poignant tune. Freddie was definitely one of the very best.

Can I give you some direction on your next Queen reactions? Queen’s live performances are almost always better and different than the studio. React to White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975. Somebody to Love, Dragon Attack, Another One Bites the Dust, Keep Yourself Alive and Save Me live at Montreal 1981. Now I’m Here, Under Pressure and Love of my Life live at Wembley 1986. Tie Your Mother Down Wembley July 12th performance and watch the audience. Who Wants to Live Forever live at Budapest. Queen was considered by many to be the best stadium band ever.

MTV was responsible. True, Americans didn’t understand the spoof of “Coronation St.” but the movie “Tootsie” was nominated for multiple Academy Awards (as was 1959’s “Some Like it Hot”), Flip Wilson, Milton Berle and others portrayed drag characters in their stand-up and the sitcom “Bosom Buddies” made Tom Hanks a household name!
