    I like the shape of this car and it stands out which is more than i can say about VW Golf and the like.

    Love this car, we have had ours for a week and although it's not the fastest car on the road, it is incredible on the twisty bits, is extremely refined and quiet, even on the 18's, love it or hate it, it looks like nothing else on the road, well done Honda.

    As a layman who knows very little about cars...I gotta say everything about this car, for an 'average user', is really great, except the freaken back...i dont mean back exterior i mean trying to see out the back is much more difficult then i'm used to, more blind spots etc.
    , i do not have the reversing camera either...prob will have to buy one..

    @Oggoel When I test drove the Civic, I drove it for about 15 kilometers, on a very well known road to me, , about 3 km's in city and about 12 km's outside, about half of those 12 km's is a road full of corners 3. /4. gear, 60-80 km/h, and half is opened road 100-110 km/h. I didnt push it hard, drove with traffic, shifting at about 4000 rpm, and car had over 9 l/100km at the end of test. Same route, Golf VI 1,4 TSI 122 hp, around 7 l. Astra 1.4t 140hp under 8l too. And both felt more powerful.

    Modern Civic are much more aerodynamic then the old models, looks are subjective but science it not.

    Hi Sam thanks for sharing! Agree they have made some good improvements but I still prefer the Golf.

    @Oggoel If you want your 1.8 v-tec to achieve 6,7 l/100 km fuel consumption that it has on paper, you have to drive it EXTREMELY carefully, shift when it tells you to shift up, at under 3000 rpm, and if you do that, you will get nowhere because the engine has absolutely no power under 4500 rpm, and under that it feels like you're driving a car that has 70-80 hp. The point is, unless you drive 1.8 v-tec completely slowly, shifting at 2500 rpm, you WON'T achieve anything under 8,5 l/100km.

    Rear trailing arm? That's something you'd expect from a comparably cheap French car, not the kind of technology you'd expect from a car that has to compete with VAG cars and the Focus.

    The styling is worse than the previous version but the overall package seems to be more refined. A disappointing compromise...

    In America we only get the magic seats in the Honda Fit and they only give us the ugly ass Civic that looks like a Dodge Neon. What the hell makes Honda think that we want the shittiest possible version of the Civic model as far as looks and functionality in the U.S?

    The old one was better looking, its like a leap backwards. I don't think that Honda will have problems only with finding new customers with it, I think that they will have lots of troubles keeping old ones. I mean, when I bought my '07 Civic 5D then I was choosing between Audi TT and the Civic. I bought the Civic mainly because of the looks and secondly because of the economy and tons of space. I mean, where have all the triangular details gone? It feels like a different model, not Civic at all

  • @derbigpr500
    @derbigpr500 12 років тому +1

    @Oggoel You cant just look at how much mpg some car has on paper, you have to look at how you need to drive that car in order to achieve that mpg. I can drive a 300hp car so that it will achieve 6l/100km, but I will go slower that way than when driving a car with 100hp normally. 1.8 v-tec is a inefficient engine that consumes way too much fuel for the performance it gives. Same goes for 2.0 v-tec with 156hp and 2.4 v-tec with 201hp. They all feel less powerful than on paper and waste fuel.

    Looks like absolute trash both inside and out compared to the 2006 Spaceship. Nice to see Honda going backwards.

    • @DenisasPupkevicius
      @DenisasPupkevicius 9 років тому +2

      I must to agree... its really look ugly compare to 2006, which was interesting and innovative design.

    • @jonsmith4669
      @jonsmith4669 6 років тому +2

      I wouldnt say its trash but I much prefer the 2006 model for its clean neat futuristic looks,I have one in Galaxy grey EX ivtec and its looks really low curvy shiny and beautiful especially from the front, alongside most more modern cars in the car park.......and it drives like a dream..... looks brand new at 12 years old......its not that quick,but its not supposed to be........... if you want speed.
      Take me to your dealer to an type R.... its quick.BUT
      it looks ridiculous and ugly compared to a 2006 Civic.

    Wonky styling.
    Uses cheap and nasty torsion beam when Focus & Golf have had independent rear suspension for at least one generation.
    Gutless engines.
    I'd honestly pick a Megane over this car; and that's saying something.

  • @derbigpr500
    @derbigpr500 12 років тому

    @Oggoel Funny how you look at things so blindly. First of all, 1.8 v-tec achieves same MPG as 1.4 TSI only on paper, in real world, no. Also, 1,4 TSI has much more torque, and is actually faster in any acceleration test and it feels more powerful when you drive it. Its also much smoother, quieter, and it also revs freely to almost 7000 rpm if you want to. If you drive the 1.8 v-tec normally, it will consume MUCH more fuel than 1.4 TSI. I test drove both, I know.

    Since when did european models switch to the left side like we do in America? Also, if they have, why the hell cant they sell this beautifully designed vehicle here in America instead of the current ugly as hell 2012 model?

    Honda needs to ditch the V-tec engine if they want to compete with the germans, in other words golf, focus and astra. V-tec engines are weak in every day use, inefficient, noisy, consume lots of fuel...its basically the technology that died out. Nobody wants an engine that needs to be revved to 6000 rpm to get any power. They need to make some small turbocharged engines.
