I’m planning on getting my first ever T at an expo coming up in June. My preference is the Brachypelma Boehmei, I’ve done my research and I think this one is the best one for me personally. (Based on Care)

Thank you for showing all of this footage! I live vicariously through your videos, because I'll probably never get to keep any of these cuties, at least not until I find a house of my own with a good amount of space and learn to drive. I live in the UK and I can't remember if we have any expos like this; I've no doubt that we do, but god knows where they're located. There's nothing here in the sticks where I live. You'll get sometimes bearded dragons or a few different breeds of snake, but for tarantula's and other arachnids, inverts, etc, I'm not entirely sure. I'll look it up, but I really do love videos with spoodes, centipedes, hairless rats and reptiles, etc. I prefer going to breeders than pet stores, 'cause I know they're usually better taken care of; Unless the breeder is not reputable or something. But, I feel like all the breeders here really love what they do and it shows!

So jelly of all the expos in America and even the UK, here in Ireland we have one a year and that's it and I have been working in the store or at the expo the last two times so I miss out on all the purchasing which is probably a good thing haha #needmoreroomforanimals!
Hi Kat, I don't want to be salty or something, but for millipedes i suggest avoiding coco fiber. It is not proven or anything but few millipede keepers have suggested that maybe coco fiber is culprit behind many sudden deaths in millipedes. Theory is that millipedes cant digest it, so it slowly over weeks and months accumulates in their guts and starves the animal. So forest topsoil is better option, and you can use organic potting soil, mixed with some leaf litter and white rot. I'm keeping millis for 3 years now, and with mixed success. I don't have experience with NA native species, but this are just some observations.

Loved your logo on the upper tier. So jealous about the up coming show. That's exciting!! Tried to film the Expo a few weeks ago in Westchester, NY. So crowed you couldn't even move. Just started my M.balfouri communal with 4 slings and picked another 2 T's. One 1/4 in K. brunnipes. Not sure what I was thinking on that one...LOL.
At the end there, you are not doing the method correctly. You need to get the sling from its original enclosure into a catch cup, with tons of useful holes, in that you can stick a poker through to tickle the sling in. Then, you slide the paper through to cover the bottom, and put that catch cup over the new enclosure. Hope that helps you with the speedy spider transfers next time :)

I bought 2 about 6 months ago from another person. Then as they grew quick and started looking male I was looking for females. So I got two more this time from Ruth and they are all doing great. Maybe we can do a breeding project in the future. The first two I got are not related to the ones from ruth
Ayeee mostly reptile and simply spiders are my people, love ruth and dustin they are some of the nicest people in the hobby for sure

Nice P. metallica! I have 2 slings, one of them is a fiesty little brat that regularly gives me threat postures.
If you haven't set it up already, i'd recommend setting up the enclosure with the cork bark being in the bottom and putting dirt in it, IME Poeci slings will construct a little burrow and dirt curtains around the bottom. That way when your little one bolts, it'll have somewhere to bolt to rather than doing frantic laps around the enclosure lol. Best of luck with that and your other new additions, can't wait to see them in future updates!

P. Metallica slings tend to burrow when their around that size, their not true arboreals like Avic or Caribena and will often hide where cork bark meets substrate, very similar behaviour to Psalmopeus slings. So yeah I would probably invert that enclosure like you mentioned, but defiantly add few more inches of substrate. My p.met slings are by far the most nervous t's I have and all have made burrows completely hidden from any light!
When their behind the cork bark and I shine just the dull screen light from my phone on them they bolt out and run into the burrows or behind plant cover haha, or do 3 laps of their enclosure before I can even blink! Good luck with that little guy and enjoy haha.

That red tail boa was gorgeous. Only species I have been bite by hehe. Still love them. Also, why are all Tokay Gekkos assholes? When i was a kid the dude that ran the reptile store used to let them bite him so we could hear them bark.

Got one P.Metallica sling 4 months ago and died after two molts. I have 25 years of experience growing up terrestrial tarantulas ad this was my first Pokie. I don't know whether she died for my fault or not, but they're very fragile anyway.

@@itsyaboi2592 yep. I got my first tarantula in 1994 and it was a "classic" Grammostola Rosea which is still here with me (very strong and long life tarantula).
Kif Holt is absolutely wonderful! She comes to our expos in Kansas City and it's so wonderful of her to be able to provide sexed females at such a small size! I have gotten about 14 tarantulas from her! ^_^
