It's actually really fun to go from watching a lot of other channels that have adult tarantulas and you're over here with like... fifty slings lol the kids are giving you a hard time
Rebecca Walilko I rarely show them for this reason but they wanted some camera time too 😝
@@tarantulakat Momma Kat, trying to feed her kids. You should know by now that kids are picky when it comes to food, lol.
Children! 😒They never cooperate...
I've found since owning some scorpions myself that they seem to be shy eaters. They seem to like feeling safe and secure before eating, and they often will not even grab a cricket while I am near the enclosure.
One thing I love is that they all seem to have their own personalities. I had two scorplings (one died, unfortunately), and the one I lost was a little clown. He (I'm pretty sure it was a he) would happily take crickets straight from the forceps, then he loved to sting them, and once they were paralysed would often sit them on his head and parade around with them. I wish I had a recording of it, it was one of the most bizarre behaviours I have ever seen in an invert.
It's so interesting to watch them either decide to eat or totally ignore the food even when it's right in front of it.
Wooow, I haven't seen scorpions eat very often but I never expected to see one sting so... gently, like your flatrock did? Like "shhh little crickie it'll all be over soon"
That's so neat!
10:40 Oh that's interesting. I was of the impression flat rocks seldom use their sting.
This is my life for the last couple of months. So. Many. Premolt. Ts.
My A. Seemanni has eaten twice now. I put her in a much bigger enclosure since the post on the FB group and she has started to make her burrow. Love it!
But keep up the great content. It's hard to make a great video when nothing eats but you did it lol. Very entertaining.
16 years ago I had 13 different species of tarantulas. I miss my girls. Watching your channel has made me want Ts again. Sadly, I'm disabled now & can't afford them. Guess I will just live vicariously through you. 😁
My grammastola pulchripes when through a picky eater stage, I started getting worried but once I offered her a giant cricket she ate again... Now she only wants to eat giant crickets 😑
So, I have a red claw emperor and a true emperor. I had the same issue with feeding until I realized they take food sooo much better if you don't lift the hide before feeding. I guess they like being in secrecy while eating. Just a tip that worked for me! Hope it helps. I know it's been a year since you posted this! Lol
I adore my A. purpurea, even if it is a bolty baby bastard. Super small still, but the zebra butt is the cutest thing so I don't mind 🥰
omg relateable its sooo frustrating when they wont eat 🍔🍟🍩
i wish there was something they always absolutely loved that you could give them just sometimes as a treat like whenever we had a barbacue our cat would get two sardines for himself and as soon as my dad lit the fire the cat would start howling for sardines even tho all the food was still in the fridge he knew that barbacue = fishes for kitteh
but i did give lotsve spiders fruit flys earlier because I have flys Im trying to use up before they die so even tho spiders like my Ceratogyruses are too big for fruit flys really I dumped like 12 or 15 in and my darlingi went mental running around trying to catch them all so maybe it really likes fruit flys maybe its nostalgic for when it was a tiny sling and used to eat them all the time
I had never seen a scorpion 🦂 do that before.. Three times, lol. That was awesome, thank you!
Really enjoyed that, thanks Kat
I hate getting the lids off these kind of critter keeper enclosures, you have to lift the corners then snap the middle bit and it always scares the t away! The little clear tops in the middle too, I know one day the whole lid is gonna snap in half shutting the middle window thingy
Good video Kat .... I enjoyed it.
If a tarantula recently molted, it will not eat as it has not hardened it’s skin and fangs completely. The cricket may even harm it as the tarantula is still soft and vulnerable.
lmfao you have the slowest moving scorpions in the world lol
8:36 was that a GOLD Coconut.
I've never seen my M.Balfouri sling/spiderling eat either. I just drop 2 mealworms every 3 days and consider it job done
Some awesome footage Kat! Keep up the great work
Very nice emclosures!!!🙂
Your Scorpion at 10:08 could be a Heterometrus cyaneus.
But the difference between H. cyaneus and the other Heterometrus sp. is very difficult and usually only with a microscope to recognize.
Geetings from Germany!
Once again Kat another awesome video and I'm going through this problem with all my slings. Some are in premolt and some molted over a week ago. I'm getting my first P.metallica next month and I'm really excited. Take care and I'll keep watching for your next video.
Ok- WHY don’t we call it PreBolt when we think they’re gonna run?!?!? 😆😆😆
If you're looking to feed your scorpion a little easier just cut the head off the prey item and squeeze the guts out a little then touch it to their mouth sometimes it works but sometimes it's just not hungry
You have a G.grossa!!! Woooo I'm not the only one with one in the US!
Grammostolas to the rescue! 😄
Awesome video Kat. Beautiful spooders!!! Tyfs God bless you
My scorpion is the same way I have to keep putting the feeder right by his mouth or claws for him to take it. sometimes it takes like 10 min if I don't it just will not not eat
Damn, my versi died recently and I just died a little bit inside... Your avics are beautyful
H. petersii and H. laoticus can be distinguished from each other in that H. petersii has granulation on the carapace and tergites while H. laoticus is totally devoid of any granulation, and H. petersii shows sexual dimorphism in that males have an enlarged tooth on the movable finger of the chela. Both species have a pectine tooth count of 15-19 in both sexes.
If you take a clear picture of the ‘head’ and see it’s completely smooth you have a laoticus but it’s unlikely.
If you find very minute granules (they are very small bumps) you have a petersii which is mucj more likely. I’m 99.9% sure you have an H. petersii, especially when we haven’t heard of any laoticus being available lately. Collin Clary can gauruntee the species for you.
Not sure how long you have been keeping ts, only just finding you now. But allot of those ts didnt want to eat because of pre molt. You can see they have the entrance of their borrow completely sealed off, to keep unwanted food out.
reminds me of my human kids....won't eat anything good for them..... Try chicken nuggets. 😜
No
LOL same 😔
I think its funny that you immediately put the food right in front of some of your animals. Like here eat. I'm making this so easy for you. When they don't eat you can hear a brief sound of sadness. I can relate and heart to that. I also can imagine you feeding your kid the same way. Like here eat. I'm making this so easy for you. But its all coming out of love.
@@offset25 it's mostly love anyway
I have 2 slings, Selenotypus sp6 Wallace, and Selenotypus sp Apis Creek.
Lucky for me they both eat voraciously. The bigger one will eat all day if I let it, and the smaller one I gave a cricket that was bigger than it (brain damaged with tweezers) and it has spent the last 2 days eating it. It’s got a nice round butt now.
I'm going to show me reptile show tomorrow.
Great feeding Video
The scorpion is a Asian forest scorpion, or Heterometrus spinifer
I hate the hunger strike times! I only post my feeding vids on Instagram, so it’s annoying when the video is boring. Thankfully I have an array of Ts, so there’s plenty of others that will eat.
Tell that African flat rock scorpion to stop playing with his food lol.
Awesome tarantulas! The slings are very cute! My mom is getting a. semmani female too x
Ok, trying to get over my extreme fear here, but, am I the only one who feels like ripping my own face off every time you move onto the next spider before I see (the camera sees) you securely replace the lid??? AAARRRGH!
where do you get all your critter keepers? I love the round ones too but can't find them. I'd rather have critter keepers than plastic containers.
would you be able to put their names on screen when you are showing them i couldn't tell what a couple of slings were.!? Thanks like you're video's!
Please please tell me what brand small enclosures you use for slings, so cute
Hi where do you get your square plastic sling enclosures from? I am in the UK and wanted to know if there was a company that ships internationally?
you have a great collection
That is 100% Asian forest scorpion I have 12 of them
tarantula Cove // “Asian Forest Scorpion” is the common name that is kind of a blanket term for all Heterometrus species. The most common Asian forest in the lobby is Heterometrus petersii, but H. laoticus looks extremely similar. As well as H. spinifer and H. longimanus.
Well yes I know I was just saying. It's hard to tell which one it is but in general it's an Asian forest scorpion. But you sir are correct 💯 I have H. Spinifer
tarantula Cove // Sweet! H spinifers are awesome I definitely want one. I’ve only got two petersii’s, and getting a better look at this guy in another video Kat definitely has a petersii here. :)
Omg. T 1. Please please PLEASE never leave crickets in your Ts enclosure! Even my jumpers. If they dont take the food ill remove it. They can hurt the T anf cause Infection. As well as dead crickets. They cause mold.
Mived the video.
I like 2 watch u with ur spiders Kat it's so Neat n Cool!
Where did u get the screen insert on your OBT enclosure?
I had a link saved before but lost where to get them.
I'm ready
Looks like an emporor scorpion
I strongly suspect that your black scorpion that didn't eat is H spinifer or something close to that. The body language is identical to mine, let's say 75% sure.
That was fun. Thank you!
What was that scorpion doing
Can I ask where to get the small box enclosures from?
You have some beautiful tarantulas Kat
I'm sooo jealous of your G iheringi. I really want one
The struggle is real!
Kat where do you get your enclosures from?
A couple of them look like the Car Hobby boxes from Hobby Lobby. I use them as well. She also uses critter keepers and upside down AMAC boxes. I've never asked her so she might say something different but that is what I see.
Meagan Felsenthal hobby lobby display car boxes and Amoc boxes from The Container Store
What is your nail color?? 10/10 want
I think the sazimai is in pre-molt
Lol my striped knee I've never seen her eat she about 3 or 4 inches how often should I feed her
I feed my A. Seemanni juvenile twice to three times a week.
I feed depending on abdomen size. If the abdomen is larger than the carapace then I usually skip a feeding
I'll come round to be fed. I promise I will play up for the camera. Xx
Scorpion looks like an asian Black Forest scorpion like what I got
I feel that it's pretty Lame for the TranTula not even to spend the nurturing time with your spiders instead , In hindsight to rip the roof oFF of your house and start throw'in-a bunch of cheeseburgers at you..Feel'me....?
14:10 What is that? You never said...
Thank you..
Some really nice species u have there great vid
how long have you had your c.visicolour for
Like 6 mo maybe
Purpurea is spelled right
The scorpion is a heterometrus petersii
Kyle Southey I did have someone else ID it and they said the same so that is what I’m going with 😎 ty

Hi Kat, love your vids!🕷💗 I was wondering what size of the critter keeper for Mavis is? S, M, or L? & what would you recommend for an adult b. Boehmei? If anyone has any suggestions please lmk!!🙏🏼😊
