Honestly, Chapter 9: The Cause of Sorrow might be the best written chapter in the whole game. Although Remire was last chapter, the game still feels lighthearted as most of the characters in the monastery are occupied by the ball, but the threat still looms over with the few that are focused on what’s happening. The whole segment with the ball is the peak of this game’s ability to make you feel a part of the magic and beauty of the world. To have that followed immediately by the most gut punching moment so far in the story is honestly incredible. From this point on, the game takes a much darker tone, which leaves the Ball as a fleeting memory of a better time. Also give Felix a bow he’s actually op with it
"Some random knight" happens to be the fan favourite character, Gatekeeper! Don't disrespect the gatekeeper if you want FE fans to let you live! 😂 Seriously, Gatekeeper was so popular that he became a playable character in Three Hopes. The fandom was so in love with this unnamed man that Nintendo made sure they could romance him in the follow-up title. We love Gatekeeper!
lemme add to that. fire emblem heroes has a yearly poll called choose your legends. its a big popularity poll. the 2 most voted men and women each get a special unit made. GATEKEEPER WON CYL 5
I believe Manuela actually explains a bit how healing magic works in one of the earlier chapters if you talk to her during free time. Magic can help close wounds, but it doesn't restore life or anything. I actually like games that explain things like that. Adds a bit more depth to the world.
About healing: as I've understood it, the gap between 1hp and 0hp is actually quite huge. No matter how injured, your units are still fit to move around and fight as you command on the battlefield. Those type of injuries magical healing can reach. The hp is like a count down to a critical injury. Jeralt's hp essentially hit 0, in which case, healing will not save you. Divine pulse is your only option, which we see failed.

Regarding the events of this episode (only discussing events to the present) This death has always been weird to me. It is successful on several levels, including actually using divine pulse, even if it doesn't help, and further adding mystery. Jeralt is around long enough in the story that the player, not just Byleth, will actually care to see him go. But as a direct consequence of this, the writing concocts more and more contrived reasons to not let characters talk freely to each other about what they know and share information, with the last couple months being particularly egregious with how many reveals are piling up. For dramatic effect, the personal mysteries, like the political plots, don't peak yet, but most things could be explained if byleth, Geralt, and rhea were ever in the same room and not avoiding asking questions. For as good as three houses is at realizing it's world, especially the monastery, this event sticks out as being just a mess. But a messy story is also an interesting story.

Ah deployment limits. the 2nd reason why a small but dedicated squad is best. i dont know if it ever raises to 12 in three houses or if 10 is the usual max. i know in engage it eventually hits 12 but due to many maps where people join or other circumstances its basically 8-10 there.
It's good that you're lucky to start with the Golden Deer first, a lot of answers are given to you in this route, who Rhea actually is, what Thales and Solon are, etc. it just takes a little bit of patience unfortunately
20:53 so remember in the battle of eagle and lion when you got sniped from the center? there was a balista too. you can send a unit there to just shoot from long range. usually not worth it since you have better bows then that thing 27:50 look how you have grown. taking a calculated risk and it actually paying off (this type of stuff is why we love killer weapons btw)
Yeah don’t know if he could have used it earlier, but by the time he had Leonie close there, I believe the beast wasn’t in range. But he’s still got future levels to use the ballistas

About the whole thing with Byleth and turning back time. while story and gameplay are seperate, in gameplay JUST turning back time isnt enough to change an outcome unless you change the numbers in the encounter, you will not get a different result. so if that scene was in gameplay, no matter how much divine pulse you burn the outcome would be the same since byleth is alone and thus cant change the numbers. now for the more complicated gameplay explanation. fe has somewhat fixed rng. so lets take landing a crit for example. on attack the game rolls a random number from 1-100 if the number rolled is
