This comic hits so close to home for me as Byleth’s feelings are mirrored of my own when my old man passed away 8 years ago. When I encountered this moment in the game, I broke down and had stepped away from the game for an hour just cuz it flooded back all those memories suddenly. I got to see all routes of this moment and I enjoyed Dimitri’s and Claude’s moment with them. I wanted to expand Claude’s because he asked for Byleth’s permission to read Jeralt’s diary in hopes to uncover more of the Church’s secrets but there were more heartfelt entries about Sitri and Byleth that I couldn’t help but think how Jeralt would continue writing in it about his kid and how much he could express himself in it in writing than speaking. I like to think Claude gained a much better understanding of Byleth as a person when he read the diary and felt significantly closer to them.
Sami, Nikko and Sean, you guys really did capture the feeling I was hoping for when I drew and wrote the dialogue! I’m honestly so thankful for you all, I felt how much your hearts put into it and I couldn’t help but cry ;m; so thank you so much! Honestly the friendship Sami and Nikko have, was felt so strongly when portrayed in Claude supporting Byleth in a dark and confusing time in her life. I’m so proud of y’all 🥺💗

I truly believe this is how Byleth felt and truly acted when Jeralt died. I was more surprised in the Blue Lions route, since that route stated how Byleth wasn't even eating. It was at this moment that Byleth started to actually 'feel'.

It makes even more shocking to who they would have been in Three Hopes if Shez was the one who join the houses.
I took a break from my first fe3h playthrough because my dad got sick. He didn't make it. The disease he had was rare and they didn't even let us call his _brothers_ before they started downright harassing us to study his body. I was sad, and mad, and very numb. After the day of his service I decided it was time to unwind with a distraction. Booted up the game and within 10 minutes Jeralt was dead and everyone kept sending condolences. Can't remember signing up for that feels trip.
Needless to say, Byleth has a place in my heart by default. Can confirm, it hurts.

I can understand where you are coming from as well.
My father actually died shortly after I finished playing this game. He had lots of health problems, so I knew it was only a matter of time. I still thought there was more time before it became clear a breaking point was reached.
I lost my father only a few months ago, and despite everything I’ve still had to keep it together for my family. You have my condolences and your not alone. Both our fathers don’t want us to be living in the moment they left. We have to honor them to live a good life, that way they be happy that we’re happy
I knew Jeralt was gonna die. He had all the death flags, no supports, him being your mentor/father, and of course he had something really important to tell you. I knew it was gonna happen during that mission, but it still hurt to see it happen.
I haven't lost my dad yet, but I see him getting older, his hair's getting shorter with each year, he's nearly deaf in one ear, he gets sick more often, he can't move like he used to. I know he's gonna die one day I mean we all do, but it still hurts to see it happen.

My sister put a depressing thought of that what happened of they made it where in the cut scene Byleth kept using Divine Pulse until they ran put, making Byleth so desperate to save her only parent and probably the most important person in their life.
We all have to admit Dimitri was the best comforter at the time, he actually gave us warming advice, and would help us take revenge, he was willing to kill anyone on our command at the moment.
Edelgard wasn't the best comforter but at least she checked up on us.

Side note: 80% sure it's canon that it's raining during Jeralt's death because the weather responds to Byleth's massive turmoil (after all, they are literally God[ess])
The Crest of Charon is believed to affect the weather.
@@dhisufiroafrozenseraphimdragon yes but Byleth has Sothis's crest. Sothis, who literally brought to life those who the other crests came from. So it would make sense that Sothis and her crest have those abilities too, on top of the stuff it's already capable of as we see ingame. They probably just didn't say so outright because then Byleth would be even more OP than they already were.
@@ribbitsaur I wish they would tell us the Crest of Flame's exact abilities. Also, after Byleth fused with Sothis, other than his hair color, what exactly changed about him? I know he's supposed to be more powerful but the game isn't very clear on his godly abilities.
@@dhisufiroafrozenseraphimdragon I was under the assumption that the Crest of Flames had the powers of every single Crest.
@@acedelta12 If we go by gameplay, the Crest of Flames can absorb life from other people, it can occasionally make attacks stronger and I think it can sometimes make enemies not counterattack.
The Crest of Flames has three abilities unlike the others with one.
Professor... *hug for Byleth* ...it’s okay to cry.
Byleth: "Ah, it looks like it's beginning to rain"
Claude: "no, I don't think so...."
Byleth Looks up towards sky
Byleth: "No, it's raining all right"

This was so beautifully voice acted, I started crying. Wonderful job.

I love how you make Jeralt sound like Solid Snake.
When my cat died, I kept an austere expression all day, bottling it up and keeping it silent until all of a sudden I just broke. She meant a lot to me, and I couldn't hold it any longer. Afterwards, I began to heal and while I miss her, I don't hurt anymore. You just gotta let it out.
Man who ever voice Byleth in the Comic Dub is practically a professional voice Actress.
If only there was a DLC or a way to play as Jeralt beside using mods, he seemed like a really good father and I liked him, reminded me of Greil, Ike's dad. Heck! They should had kept Kronya as a recurring enemy so that way, avenging your father's death would had been much more satisfying, only to learn that revenge won't bring your father back, you had to kill her not because of revenge, but because you were in the middle of a war.
Like in Fates?, having a A support with kaze in birthright to save him

This is the closest we’ll ever get to hearing Byleth’s thoughts and I personally think that this compliments the in-game scene. Do you keep an onion stash for scenes like these!?
I personally have a headcanon that Byleth struggles with depression similarly to Marianne after Jeralt's death

Claude is my favorite FE3H character, he is my favorite leader and route to play. The only thing is that I saved his route for last because that would have the perfect way to end my FE3H experience. Beautiful work.
Problem... His "consolation scene" is just him nagging Byleth for Jeralt's diary.
The moment Thales shows up Byleth shows a face of pure animosity, and the fact the face melts away real fast at the sight of their failure shows how devastated they were.
Honestly, I would've kept going back in time until I either found a way to save Jeralt or died in the process.
@@acedelta12 at this time in the story sothis controls the Time Ability and since Thales is the one who thwarted them, probably not much they could do to stop him.

This comic also hits close to home for me, my dad passed away as of May 31st 2022 at 7am. The cancer he had was at Stage 4 and he just couldn't get any more time on his clock. It hurts to say the least as my mother and I knew the man for over 30 years and he's no longer with us. It feels like a part of the family is missing and we don't know what can fill that void at this point.

This comic show more character development then the actual game for Byleth. That's saying something.

As much of an emotionless sack of sh*t I am, even this made my heart turn. The in game scene, and especially this rendition of something of an inbetween the diary and the first free day. Let me just say all I can feel is pain when I get there. Dread. Fear. I don’t like watching Jeralt die, and it’s even worse seeing Byleth cry for the first time in her life. Not even barring her life as a baby, it’s been confirmed, she never cried, and never could. But her shell cracked. Or she blossomed. Either one. She changed. But she never thought that sadness would end up becoming one of her new emotions... and it’s so impactful, it hurts the player watching this play out. The subsequent playthroughs don’t help at all...

Given that its female Byleth im amazed it wasnt Edelgard coming here ( not a complaint just usually when I see fem version its her ) . The voice acting here is great and you really caught the feelings of what Byleth should have been like in game if he//she had a voice for these things.
This or anything like this should have been in the actual game maybe with either the lord or Alois or maybe even rhea or something. This really should have been somewhere in the game
yea and having a variant for all 4 routes woulda made it all the better too but alas, we never got it
Geez, this is just too well done. Really hits me in my feels. This is just really masterful work. This just strengthens reasons as to why I find it way too easy to be a Byleth fan. I don't have the kinds of experiences other commenters have and yet I can feel the pain from this performance.

I don't own the game....heck i don't own a Switch....but the comics are usually a nice way to get some flavor and fun....and then there's this one....
My mother died in 2006... A rare cancer, not one that you'll see touted around by news outlets and cancer groups...She'd been fighting it for 4 years...Did Chemotherapy, did Radiation therapy.....nothing completely put it in remission....
And then she died....and....I've never truely given myself time to grieve.... She died in August, about 2 weeks before school started, and while the school was willing to give me a few weeks off to get myself together, I just soldiered on and focused on school...and then college came around, and that didn't work out because of my own stupidity on things, and even now, years later, i still have problems when I think of her... I can understand how Byleth feels here... Its not easy to lose someone, especially a family member who you were close to... I told my mother every day i could that I loved her...right up until the end....and sometimes.....sometimes it still doesn't feel like I did enough.... My father's moved on somewhat....he's remarried and happy....but I'm not sure I'll ever be....

Does anyone actually enjoy avatar characters in RPGs? I have yet to play a game where I feel like it wouldn't just feel better for them to create an actual character with meaningful emotions and personality. Ironically, it's a lot easier for humans to connect to something that has a defined character than something where we choose responses just to have the character maintain a blank expression and not react when expected. Hence why I enjoy animated cutscene/battle quote Byleth a lot more than dialogue Byleth.
That's one of the reasons why people like Robin so much, because outside of the customization, he's not really an avatar but an actual character. I still think that Byleth shouldn't have been an avatar.

I wish Dimitri said a bit more since he lost his family and knows what the pain is like. Byleth and Dimitri both wanted revenge. Luckily Byleth didn't lose herself but Dimitri on the otherhand went mad. I'm still surprised that he decided to talk to El and even spared her but she threw a dagger and in the end was killed.
At least Byleth saves Dimitri. Well Dimitri realized that he's living his life wrong and it's his own. Without Byleth he would've done anything to get his revenge. In the other routes he dies because there's no one to show him the way. His death in the golden deer route hurts the most because he went out in the worst way.
i may not have ever run blue lions but every time i come back to watch this vid it gets me in the feels mainly cuz we never really got to see much action out of byleth's old man but also because i lost a good few members of my family over the years (most recently being my grandmother 3 years ago) and much like byleth i pretty much shut down when i caught wind of it

yeah, i hated her reaction to jeralts death. it’s not cool to walk in on someone crying over a loved ones death and just expect them to suck it up.
Honestly, I get where Eldegard was coming from. But with a situation such as this. It's really not necessary to show tough love to someone who has lost their only family.
This comic, while absolutely beautiful, scares me on a personal level.
My dad can be the biggest pain in my ass sometimes. I often find myself not wanting to he around him because of how strict he is, which is overbearing to me. But if anything ever were to happen to him, and I wasnt able to do anything, I would'nt ever forgive myself.
I hope no one has to deal with this pain💖

Every single time I've played this game and got to Jeralts death even though I know it's coming it gets me in the heart every time
if this was in the game, i feel like it would work like the goddess tower. whomever you are close to would have a high chance of talking to you. and it's not gender locked
with how i can get so in tune with character's emotions in various games seeing byleth's dad get killed before her eyes (yes i played fbyleth) it not only hit me at home because i lost my mother when i was a kid but it also got to me in general cuz of the reaction byleth had, and it was then i swore revenge on those who did geralt dirty
God I’m replaying blue lions and I just got to remire village I’m not ready to see best dad die for a fifth time...
But this was so sad and well done!

Personnaly, I really like this comic but in reality Claude mostly cared for jeralt diary, even asking byleth right after, when she is still mourning his death and you dont even have a choice

I had to stop watching... I lost my daddy a little over a year ago, and the pain is still fresh in my mind. I should've hugged him more, but... He was in so much pain, I was scared to hurt him. So I didn't. And when they called that night for us to come to the hospital... I knew then. I knew then he wouldn't make it. And I don't know if I'll ever be okay. He was my world, if I'm being honest. I don't think I can make it through this comic right now. But... I want to come back to it. When I'm ready. I stopped at 4:05 because that's when I lost it was right then and there.
Why did I watch this when I'm already scared of losing someone...
this hit me so hard! I would be just like Byleth in this moment if any happened to my father, when your close with someone you truly care for its hard to let go if something happens to them because they are a big part of your life. I'm glad my dad is still around but like I said if something happened to him (which I hope nothing will), I would be exact like Byleth here. And all my friends and boyfriend would be like the Golden Deer, they are my family too. T_T
I feel like this shoukd have been the actual sceen in game not claude being an a**hole.
