Hi Gabi. I’m a licensed cosmetologist (over 10 years now) and I also have fine hair. I actually agree with you-blow drying is essential for achieving volume with fine hair. Using a heat protecting spray will help prevent damage (Redken has a great one). Also, I noticed in the video you went straight to round-brushing your wet hair but that isn’t the best way. You should not begin roundbrushing until it’s about 70% dry. So after you do a basic towel dry so it’s not dripping, use a flat, vented brush…starting from the left side of the head and working around the back to the right, take vertical sections of hair and brush through them downward keeping your diffuser right on the brush bristles. Essentially you are using the air to chase the water down & off your hair. Then when it’s almost dry, begin round-brushing it. Less damage, better results.
Thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback Claire! Yes I talk about that on the channel sometimes too. Rough drying can lead to less frizz, less damage and it's much easier and faster. What helps tremendously with volume is to actually lift the hair 90 degrees from the head when rough drying though.

Last year, I started losing hair. I used to shampoo everyday, then tried not to shampoo for one week since I rarely left my house. I googled, and found out that when you don't shampoo often enough, the oil clogs the pores, and that causes hair loss. I went back to shampooing everyday, and my hair is healthy and thicker now.

Oh God! You went through hell but what a beautiful result! You are beautiful! I have thinning hair too and for now I can hide it but... I can't hide that it scares me a bit
Your Hair looks beautiful. You’re very pretty as well. I noticed for the past two years my hair slowly has thin out. It still looks like I have a lot of hair but it’s not as beautiful as it once was.
I have a bald spot on the top of my head from having the Gamma knife done on a pituitary tumor. No one told me about that. I used to have nice thick healthy hair. But I’m 62 now, and boy has my hair changed. It’s salt and pepper frizz now. I sleep on a silk pillowcase. I wake up with my hair flat on the side and smushed up. I’m a rough sleeper. And I need a new pillow. I’m trying to grow my hair out, but I’m not sure I like it. I think I’m going to just get it cut short again. I have more control of it then. I have natural curly hair my whole life. But I can’t handle the frizzy part. I do occasionally blow dry my hair and it will look decent until I shower again. But if it’s short I just brush and go. Maybe blow dry it for some volume but it doesn’t seem to last anymore. It really sucks to get old and have crappy hair.
My hair is not only fine and thinning, it is super straight. Since I am 78 years old, I do not carry off straight hair well. Your hair is curly. What would be different about handling straight hair?
I’m a licensed hairstylist and can relate to you because my hair is very fine and straight.. nothing wrong with blow drying.. it’s the technique you use and the thermal protectant that is important. One recently purchased a sold pillowcase, I’ll look at the cap but am afraid it would end up n the bed by morning 😆😆
OMGosh - I JUST let my hair air dry and the following day it looked like I still had conditioner in it. It was so flat. I get complements on my hair all the time so it was such a wakeup call that it looked so different.
I would LOVE to know your preferred heat protectant product... I also have fine thin hair. Thank You 🥰 Oh... I already use a silk pillow case... it really DOES make a difference 😁😊
I love my silk pillowcase, a must have... I also have fine thin hair, and it's also really long. And do have grey hair, I been letting my natural hair color grow out. I'm trying to get away from coloring my hair. Do you have any suggestions for frizz in humidity around this time of year... Thank you!
Hi Gabi, thank you for the great video on fine hair. It is a life changer for me. Any suggestions on how to do a side swept swoop bang? I have tried everything and I just can't get it to keep some volume. It just lies straight and flat. I love how your hair has the body and beautiful sweep to a side. I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.❤
Gabi I've been following you since before the hair transplant days and I'm so happy to see your channel growing! Your hair is looking so beautiful, love the color! I bought the new Revlan One step Plus and I love to use it from n time to time for a beautiful blowout that I just couldn't do on myself with a round brush and blow dryer ( hip length hair here). Thanks for all the tips and tricks.
Hey! Thank you so much for your comment! You must have been one of the first set of subs on the channel then! I am so happy to have you here! It's been wild watching the channel grow like this. I am almost full time on UA-cam now and I closed my studio for cuts and colours to focus more on this part of the business. I have LOVED being able to educate on this platform and comments like these make my day :)
My Hairstylist of 25 years is gone and I cannot get a decent blowout. I have tried sooooo many salons. My hair is fine and curly, like yours. I figured out how to blow the front, but I cannot see the back of my hair to blow dry the top and back. Do you have a tutorial on this?
I love love love your videos I just found you and I am so glad I did . You are super beautiful and knowledgeable in your field . Thank you 🙏🏻 🥰🥰💇🏻♀️💇🏻♀️💇🏻♀️
YES! You will love it. Make sure to keep the baseline blunt and don't do too many (or any) layers. My hair is a long blunt bob with a long curtain fringe. Check out this video because I explain how to get your thin hair to look thick with different haircut ideas: ua-cam.com/video/_oBSx9PhJh4/v-deo.html
I had a thyrodectomy in 2017 due to a thyroid cancer and 2 other surgery since then to remove lymph nodes where the cancer had spread, and 2 radioactive iodine treatments. With all of this I have lost a lot of hair and dont know what to do. What would you recommand?
The silk pillowcase is life changing. It’s also WAY easier on my skin. I can feel cotton pillowcases pulling my hair and tugging my skin. It doesn’t preserve my styling though. I wake up looking like Albert Einstein.
Can you explain how to deal with fine hair post workout. I workout everyday and run. I hate washing my hair everyday but I don’t know what else to do. I have a bib hair cut which is color treated. Thanks
I would love to wake up in the morning with an Afro like a really big Afro but been realistic thin hair sucks for me I try to braid my hair like Elsa from frozen braid and it looks more like a rats tail I love braids but how can we braid our thin hair Thanks for sharing
Love your hair and hair color. my biggest problem besides thin fine see through hair are the cowlicks I have at the front. My hair parts differently with off center part. I can't find a stylist that knows what to do. Layer not layer it has been a battle for the past 20 years. Also I have a lot of fullness at top but see through at the lengths. My face is too long to cut short. I think the blow dry brushes are too big to even be able to grip my hair for styling. I have used bondi boost for a year and it has helped my hair grow but looking to try new things.
I trained my cowlick as a teen with straighteners, pins, etc. Just reading this reminded me I had one! Everyone mentioned it when i was a kid. I also had a widows peak that i plucked shorter!
Also Biotin supplements really make your hair grow! But you have to put up with a new short hairstyle growing in under your current hair - it does look a mess for a couple of years. I need to get back on those!
I just want to remind women that it is not a flaw to have fine hair. If fine hair is healthy it has actually the best silky quality out there. My hairstylist once told me that fine hair most of the times can handle more styling and even bleaching than thick or curly hair, because of its elasticity. If you struggle with hair loss it has nothing to do with your hair type. Embrace your beauty there is no disadvantage about fine hair.
I have very fine hair and my husband will often just pet my hair and stroke it like I'm a dog. LOL It's really that soft. Unfortunately, that means that it doesn't want to do anything other than hang there.
I feel your stylist told you some true facts. I have a medium thick hair and my hair gets very dry and damaged when ever I get my highlights done. It takes 3 months to recover from that chemical treatment. I am person that loves going to the beach; thats why I get it done in spring , so I can enjoy the salty water in the summer. Also, I can't take heat from hot tools no more than 350.
I will tell you a secret a high end hair stylist taught me on newbury street in Boston. When you got all the products in your hair to start blow drying, start on one side, put the hair up and blow dry section by section, but realize that warm air makes you being able to shape your hair, so if you want your hair to have volume, after blow drying with hot air upwards you need to follow with cold air, so that when you put the hair down again, it wont fall flat. I'm not sure if I explanied it good, english isn't my main language. You want to cool down the hair after the hot air in order for it to hold it's shape.
I feel for people who struggle with hair issues, like balding or very fine hair, it really kills ones confidence etc... lots of love to all your ladies!!
Tips to prevent hair loss: - don’t use brush, use wide-tooth comb - don’t brush or comb hair whilst wet, hair is at its weakest when wet and it will break - don’t use towel to dry wet hair, use soft cotton t-shirt - don’t pull hair into tight ponytail, it may cause permanent hair loss, a condition called traction alopecia - avoid dyeing and heat styling hair to keep damage to a minimum, I understand heat styling may be unavoidable if you want to volumise your hair - wear a hat to prevent UV sun damage or limit sun exposure These tips and more can be found in Dr Dray’s videos on UA-cam
Thank you Gabi, I had brain surgery to remove my grade 3 brain tumor and my hair has grown back but very fine and thin. You can see bold patch. So I will be getting the silk cap for sure. Xxx
God bless you each every day girlie💞Sending love from from Indiana ( 1hr from Chicago) .. I feel the struggle girl. Using a scalp scrub has CHANGED MY LIFE!! I use from Ulta* DHue ACV Scalp Scrub
I'm so glad I found you. I have fine hair and now it's thinning and I'm freaking out. Definitely getting a silk pillow case, volumizing products, and I'm going to take the plunge and cut my long hair. I've had shorter cuts a lot of times but it's hard to cut it after growing out. Thank you for these videos. You are so beautiful and make me feel like I can still be beautiful with a shorter cut. Also thank you for advocating for blow drying! I absolutely have to blow dry unless I want to look like a wet dog! 💕💕💕 Thank you!!!
Hi Gabi. I just discovered your channel and I have always had fine thin hair. As I have gotten older I am now 57 it transformed from straight to frizzy wavy to now pretty curly with mixed wave patterns. I had embraced the curly method and my hair is so much healthier without heat styling. With heat and all the appropriate products I could never get a smooth style anymore especially with humidity. Even a salon styling would last a few hours at best. My hair is just too fine and porous. I also have stopped coloring my hair so I’m 60 % grey and the grey has even changed the texture more and constant coloring was damaging my fragile hair even more. Anyway.. my question to you is can you provide styling tips for reduced/no heat methods for thin fine wavy hair. I see that you choose not to go that way yourself but there doesn’t seem to be much info on the wavy curly side for very fine thin hair. Most curly methods involve too much heavy product that just weighs hair like mine down. Thank you for considering this request and thank you for your helpful content.
Octocurl! Robe ties! There are a bunch of heatless ways to get curl. UA-cam it. Twist two strands toward the back of your head, then twist them together back over front, use a rubber band at the bottom to hold it. Use a dab of gel, I like clear aloe vera, with a few drops of water after you shampoo and condition. Spritz your hair with water after you set it so that it dries fully by morning. To set curl, either sleep in it, or set it for a couple of hours before your event(a cap is great for both methods as it uses your natural body heat). For top volume, I drape the crown of my hair over a headband while I sleep., so it pushes the hair up. You can see that I have white hair that is fine. Heat will burn it yellow.
Yaaas, silk pillow cases are a must. I have about 10 of them and will not travel without them either. Very fine and naturally wavy, frizzy hair here too.

Dry shampoo has been a lifesaver for me with this. I don’t have scalp breakouts. But my hair gets oily fast just because it’s so fine and thin. Use a bit at the roots when you first wash and dry your hair. You may have to test a few because some make your hair feel sticky and that just makes it look dirtier. Like the tresemme one is horrible but the Dove volumizer dry shampoo is great for me. I use to wash my hair everyday. Now I can do it twice a week. Huge improvement for me.
Gabi, I appreciate your channel. I had an FUT hair transplant three months ago. Your videos helped me make this difficult but successful decision. Thank you.
Gabi, I had frightening shock loss last month. I’m trying to focus on a successful outcome. The doctor who performed my procedure asked me to send him your video. He said I’m one of his top ten jobs! We’ll, well we’ll see, only time will tell.
@@christinemadrazo6755 Oh wow! I hope that it is a huge success for you! The doctor knows best so if he said that, you must have had a really successful transfer! I am thinking of you!
Hi Gabi, can you do a video for longer hair? I'm not suited for short hair and what I end up doing is a ponytail or bun everyday unless I have a special event, because it takes super long to style my hair.
Hi Gabi. Just discovered your channel. Have watched every video and just love your content. I am 56 and colour my hair. I have shoulder length frizzy, wavy thin hair that has breakage. In winter I blow dry my hair but I think this is causing breakage and is still frizzy when I blow dry In summer because of humidity my hair gets so frizzy that I have to wear wavy. Not sure if I should be using a shampoo for volume, frizziness or a repairing shampoo for my breakage. Can you recommend a product for all that does not weigh my hair down? Many thanks.
These are such great tips that also translate really well to fine natural hair! I especially love the fact that you mentioned the scalp foundations which I've never heard of before. Thank you so much for making this awesome video!
Silk pillowcases are amazing! Yes, I have to hand wash it, but it holds the hair so well. I had my hair start into male pattern baldness, due to hormone pellets and wrong dosage. I have corrected that, but it takes a long time to re-grow hair. I found Joan Rivers hair powder and it has been amazing. It doesn't budge and it doesn't transfer. Truly a game changer. Thanks for talking about this sensitive subject.
Hi Gaby! Love your tricks for dealing w fine hair. My biggest thing I not over relying on dry shampoo. For me, I was using it too much it was actually clogging my follicles causing hair loss. Moderation is definitely key for me. The Nioxin line has been great for priming my scalp for healthy growth by removing build up. Thanks for all your advice!

I have very fine hair but very thick . Natural blonde going gray . Bob or layers ??
Great tips Gabi, your looks amazing now 🤩 will deft try the silk pillow case👍
OMGosh - I JUST let my hair air dry and the following day it looked like I still had conditioner in it. It was so flat. I get complements on my hair all the time so it was such a wakeup call that it looked so different.
I have thin hair and use gray away spray and it fills in my balding spots and stays until I wash it out ❤
Satin pillowcases are inexpensive and easy to find. My silk one was hard to find and cost 80$ I don't shop on line so where do I find them easily?
I have been sleeping on a silk pillow case since I was a little kid, totally works!
What if you workout and sweat daily? How do you keep the volume then?
Ooh I’ve been thinking to get a silk pillowcase
I would LOVE to know your preferred heat protectant product... I also have fine thin hair.
Thank You 🥰
Oh... I already use a silk pillow case... it really DOES make a difference 😁😊
Me too
Love your channel Gabi. I have fine hair as well so I am loving all your tips!
I love your videos so much; I do have long hair but it’s very fine ☹️ when my mom has so much thicker gorgeous hair.
You may be deficient in iodine. I take two drops of J Crowes Potassium Iodide and two drops of trace minerals selenium every Monday and Thursday.
Awee , you could be bald & still be beautiful!😊 Thank you for the informative video 🙌🏻
Great video!! Gonna try all these steps!!
Wish me Luck!!
New sub here and I am grateful I stumbled onto your channel. Thank you for your dedication and honesty. Your tips have helped me
I love my silk pillowcase, a must have... I also have fine thin hair, and it's also really long. And do have grey hair, I been letting my natural hair color grow out. I'm trying to get away from coloring my hair. Do you have any suggestions for frizz in humidity around this time of year... Thank you!
I created a video about tackling humidity and frizz you can watch here: ua-cam.com/video/YEEGjAX_2do/v-deo.html
@@GlamGirlGabi thank you!
Your videos are very helpful. Curious to know what brushes you prefer for fine hair, boar bristle like Ibiza or the metal/ceramic ones??
For fine hair, I prefer using the metal/ceramic ones :)
Great video!! I’m buying the scalp base right now!!
It’s sooooo good. You won’t be disappointed I promise. Make sure you’re color matching to your root color.
U look gorgeous and confident! Keep it up
Name of shampoo & conditioner???
Thanks Gabi!
Unless I missed it, thought I’d also mention that hair and nail vitamins seemed to help my thinning hair as well. Worth a shot!
Thank you for your informative video however i really love your beautiful green silky blouse, absolutely beautiful!!
Hi Gabi can you let me know what's the around brush you used?
Hi Gaby, do you have any suggestions for shampoo?
Your so beautiful. Your hair looks great!!
My Hairstylist of 25 years is gone and I cannot get a decent blowout. I have tried sooooo many salons. My hair is fine and curly, like yours. I figured out how to blow the front, but I cannot see the back of my hair to blow dry the top and back. Do you have a tutorial on this?
I only wash my fine wavy frizzy hair 2 to 3 times a week, how do I add volume on days between washes?
I love love love your videos I just found you and I am so glad I did . You are super beautiful and knowledgeable in your field . Thank you 🙏🏻 🥰🥰💇🏻♀️💇🏻♀️💇🏻♀️
What should I do for thick hair please suggest thank u for sharing
Do you have the link of which brush you picked up from Wish? I'm always hesitant to purchase from that site.
Fantastic video thank you so much 😊
Thanks for the great info!
I love this I have very fine hair and it's long, after seeing yours I'm going to go for the chop and hopefully that will make it look fuller as well.
So glad I found your channel. New subscriber 💕ty
Thanks
I would love to wake up in the morning with an Afro like a really big Afro but been realistic thin hair sucks for me I try to braid my hair like Elsa from frozen braid and it looks more like a rats tail
I love braids but how can we braid our thin hair
Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much!!!
I have bleached hair. It feels so dry when I use volume shampoo. Is there a brand you recommend?
I have very similar hair, maybe a little curlier. I am using a blow out brush, and still getting some frizz. What am I doing wrong?
Please what was the blow out brush?
Thank you !!!
My thin fine hair does much better with moisture shampoos. Volume types strip out all the life from my hair.
Gabi hi. love your videos. where are you located by any chance?? would love for you to do my hair. Thanks~
Silk or satin?
Hi ...how do I contact you if I need you to do a bride's makeup and hair...
You can send me an email at inquiry@glamgirlgabi.com
hi are you able to do review on my product please
Isn't hair fibres also good instead of scalp foundation?
I haven’t had luck with it. I’ve tried about three brands and I personally find it to be patchy.
I have fine hair and experiencing hair loss it is making me very depressed
I have very fine hair and my husband will often just pet my hair and stroke it like I'm a dog. LOL It's really that soft. Unfortunately, that means that it doesn't want to do anything other than hang there.
@@NinaCrown45same but its not hair loss, its genetic. Fine and thin by genetic and im effin depressed. even i had bang clip on my pfp :-)
You explained it beautifully and your English is fantastic ❤❤ thank you ❤
This is the best tip 😊 Well said! I know exactly what you mean
Thanks for great tip
$200+ for a blouse and almost $300 for pjs isn’t exactly affordable
I feel for people who struggle with hair issues, like balding or very fine hair, it really kills ones confidence etc... lots of love to all your ladies!!
Tips to prevent hair loss:
- don’t use brush, use wide-tooth comb
- don’t brush or comb hair whilst wet, hair is at its weakest when wet and it will break
- don’t use towel to dry wet hair, use soft cotton t-shirt
- don’t pull hair into tight ponytail, it may cause permanent hair loss, a condition called traction alopecia
- avoid dyeing and heat styling hair to keep damage to a minimum, I understand heat styling may be unavoidable if you want to volumise your hair
- wear a hat to prevent UV sun damage or limit sun exposure
These tips and more can be found in Dr Dray’s videos on UA-cam

I cannot get a brush or comb through my hair later if I don't brush it out quickly after washing. :(
Ya but she also sleeps with her hair wet I seen tht so follow some tips
Thank you Gabi, I had brain surgery to remove my grade 3 brain tumor and my hair has grown back but very fine and thin. You can see bold patch. So I will be getting the silk cap for sure. Xxx
God bless you each every day girlie💞Sending love from from Indiana ( 1hr from Chicago) .. I feel the struggle girl.
Using a scalp scrub has CHANGED MY LIFE!! I use from Ulta* DHue ACV Scalp Scrub
Good luck and speedy recovery. Mom had a surgery too she used Walgreens brand hair regrowth it helped a lot God bless
Hi there! Just curious, did the cap help?
Thanks!
@@evaconnaughton8523 I decided to get the silk pillow case and my hair is growing back. Xxx
My hair has gotten thicker once I realized I needed iron

Go to a dermathologist
Hello 😊 what is the curly method that you are talking about ? Is it a special way to manage wavy / curly hair ?
Yaaas, silk pillow cases are a must. I have about 10 of them and will not travel without them either. Very fine and naturally wavy, frizzy hair here too.
They’re so great! Make such a difference for our hair types!
Are polyester satin pillowcases & caps as good as silk? Or do they need to be real silk?

Great tips! I can relate. I’ve definitely noticed an improvement using a silk pillowcase. ❤
What about fine hair that gets very oily with scalp breakouts? I feel gross if I leave the house without washing first.
Thank you.
Christine I am so happy to hear that!!! Are you in shock loss “shit why did I do this???” stage right now? Just wait….so much will change!
NEED this as a girl with trichotillomania, thank you 🖤💜🖤
These are such great tips that also translate really well to fine natural hair! I especially love the fact that you mentioned the scalp foundations which I've never heard of before. Thank you so much for making this awesome video!
It'd be a lot easier to deal with thin, fine, frizzy hair if I looked like THAT. 😳 Dang. 😄 She could pull off bald.
You’re so sweet 😂 Thank you ❤️
Silk pillowcases are amazing!
Dry shampoo can make my scalp sore, so I avoid it now. I used to use it regularly before it became problematic.
