- After hearing a lot about this Swiss army knife online I finally got my hands on one and gave it a try. The combination of scissors and the wood saw along with the usual Victorinox tools takes the Huntsman to the next level of Swiss Army Knives. Really liked the multi purpose hook for and old school touch. A real pleasure to use the Victorinox Huntsman Swiss army knife is an excellent companion for your next outdoor adventure.
Ahhhh the good old Huntsman. This pocket knife is the ultimate edc in my opinion I have carried it with me every day for the last 15 years excellent tool. 👍
Could not agree more mate the Huntsman ticks all the boxes of a good edc nice light as well cheers for watching super chief 🤙🤙🤙
Corkscrew is the best.
Here are just some of useful things it can do:
1. Opens corked bottles (duh!)
2. Untie knots.
3. Pry the battery out of a cell phone.
4. Screw it into a wall and hang your coat on the SAK.
5. Staple remover.
6. Smooth out the hole you just made with the reamer.
7. Clear clogged faucet sprayer.
8. Bicycle tire valve tool.
9. Holds the micro screwdriver.
10. Pick gravel out of tires.
11. Rip open a blister package.
12. Ice pick.
13. Mark a pilot hole.
14. Clean mud out of shoe soles.
15. Knot the end of a cord. Thread it through the corkscrew. Handle.
16. Pop balloons.
17. Aides in sewing.
18. Clean mud out of sprinkler heads.
19. Push used snare wire through it, to straighten out the wire and remove coils or kinks.
20. Pulls the drain plug out of a tub.
21. Open the corkscrew and screw it tightly into a broomstick-thickness stick. Now open the blade. Tie it securely. Survival spear for fishing.
22. Hang the SAK from a piece of cordage from the ceiling. Plumb bob (I have the middle of the handle marked on one mine).
23. Corkscrew + a metal lid = a filter or wire mesh for cooking.
24. Carry a chunk of C4.
25. Pull frozen shoestrings tight, or help loosen them.
26. Helps get the innards out of a squirrel.
27. Gets the candle stub out of a candle holder.
28. Start fights on multitool forums.
29. Remove the fuel filter from a lawn mower.
30. Although the new corkscrews are 4 turns, you can use them for range estimation.
31. O-ring remover for your flashlights.
32. Pry out partially-exposed nails.
33. Tighten the apron strings on a wrestling ring.
34. The inside diameter of the corkscrew is 1/4". I'm sure you know what you can do with this.
35. Open just a small hole in a coconut.
36. Lift stuck items out of boxes.
37. Fish the tape out of a clogged VHS tape.
38. Remove patches from a flintlock gun.
39. Remove the inside of a shotgun shell, making a blank. Remove the wad and powder too.
40. If you don't want the mini screwdriver, the corkscrew can hold a ferro rod.
41. Tap a tree for sap.
42. Undo zip ties without breaking them.
✌️😉
Holy smokes mate the is an impressive list of uses you have put up there will for sure consider these in the future. Thanks for watching.
More and more people are discovering and rediscovering this knife as the years go by. It is a storming example of swiss tech that deserves our appreciation wherever we happen to live and wherever we find ourselves in need of a little help !
Definitely handy tools thanks for watching.
There so good I bought another five of them.
Hahahahaha thanks for watching mate I have two and eyeing up a third.🤙🤙🤙
I'v EDCed my Swiss Champ for 36 years. It has saved my bacon many times ! I also carry a Gerber Gator in 154CM.
Awesome dude I've heard good things about the champ thanks for watching.
I love my Huntsman! The Rambler is my daily carry, but when camping I use my Huntsman. I keep a Firefly ferro rod in place of the toothpick and tinder in the corkscrew- as a backup!
Definitely an elite model mate off all the SAKs I own I find my self reaching for my original red scaled huntsman the most. For sure have to get my hands on the ferro tooth pick🤙🤙🤙 Thanks for watching bro.
I carry the Swiss champ in a belt pouch sheath a friend made, a cold steel AD-15 in my pocket, and a belt knife too include sheath I made all by hand and from scratch over hammer and anvil.
I'v EDCed my Swiss Champ for 36 years. It has saved my bacon many times ! For a few years now I'v also carried a Gerber Gator in 154CM.
Nice review, rediscovered my huntsman last year. Handy little edc, especially here in the uk where it is a legal edc . One use of the cork screw, good for undoing knots in para cord etc.
The hole in the awl makes it great for sewing heavy pieces together. My Camelbak shoulder strap was repaired with it.
Nice review. 👍
Very handy tool dude the awl is definitely a game changer even if it doesn't look like it. Thanks for watching bro.
My favorite EDC is the old 74mm Victorinox Executive (now discontinued)... not too small and not too big... "large" blade, small blade, scissors, nail file with nail cleaner, orange peeler with a flat head screw driver on the end... I often use the nail cleaner for a phillips screw driver... the scissors and a good nail file are must haves, as I'm always breaking a finger nail doing stuff and need a quick fix/repair.
I recently bought a Mountaineer (91mm 4 layers), mainly because it has the metal file, which is great for finger nails and the it has a nail cleaner that can also be used for a phillips screwdriver... it does not have the saw, but the metal file does have a saw on it.
Then I discovered the Ranger (91mm 5 layers)... it has what the Mountaineer has, plus the wood saw, and a couple extract back tools... the extra layer does not add that much bulk to it.. I've added titanium pocket clips that I got off of ebay that are super tight, and have yet to have one come loose like a cheaper pocket clip did... having the SAK hang from your pocket and not at the bottom of your pocket is so much more comfortable... love these pocket clips !
I've been adding my own custom Sambar stag scales to these knives and love the look and feel of them even more... a lot of guys doing custom work on their swiss army knives these days... lots of fun !
Cheers for the input man the sambar stag scales sounds awesome. Thanks for watching.
@@aussieaxedude154 They are... I'm going get one of those motorized rotating display stands to make videos that I can post on UA-cam and Facebook.
Really handy pocket knife...I have the fieldmaster too which I use more due to the fact were it has a Philips screwdriver instead of the corkscrew..But the huntsman lite has both and a pen...including the flashlight too..!..very very handy...xxx
Couldn't agree more dude the corkscrew has limited use a Philips driver is far more handy. Thanks for watching mate.
Same i carry in my left pocket, along with My Leatherman supertool in a sheat, very first edc knife
Nice video review of the SAK Huntsman model. I’ve carried a Huntsman (Red handle scales) for years. It has proven to be an excellent everyday carry knife and a good choice as a second blade for bushcraft work in the woods. I slip a SAK Huntsman into my pocket every time I put on my pants. It is multifunctional and always cuts. - Tennessee Smoky
Couldn't agree more mate I take my old huntsman everywhere very handy. Cheers for watching.
The saw adds an outsider capacity to it. My favourite of the four-layers was the Fieldmaster, which trades the corkscrew for a more useful and streamlined Philips.
Sounds like a much more useful tool mate might have to give the Fieldmaster a red hot go
I like the corkscrew for opening knots and it holds either the tiny flathead or the firesteel. I rarely find myself with a philips that cant be turned with a flathead.
Field master 👍
Corkscrew is underrated; you already have two drivers on the ends of the cap lifter/flat head tool. Corkscrew will untie tight knots, hold eye glass repair screwdriver, or tinder.
You can add tinder to the corkscrew and replace the toothpick with a Ferro rod
While camping I have a 6ft length of para cord I use as a choker I gather small logs and branches loop the Paracord around them and use the hook as a handle to drag it behind me back to camp I've hauled more than 100lbs many times with no issues ..same knife
Very handy addition mate always been a fan of the hook. Cheers for watching.
I'm in bc too! I carry a "Walker" on my keychain. I complement it with a Leatherman squirt though
Awesome spot mate! sounds like a good combo. Thanks for watching.
I have been wearing the huntsman for almost a year as an EDC tool, I would not change it for any other SAK. It is great for urban EDC and for nature trips
Good review.
You can also use the cork screw for untying knots. The awl can also be used for sewing.
Thanks for watching man.
Good demo. My next purchase! Thx!
Thanks for watching mate.
This has been my staple outdoors companion (along with a khukri or a bowie knife) for over a decade. Add the fire ant kit by tortoise gear or victorinox and you can make the corkscrew opener more useful with a last ditch ferrocerium rod and waterproof tinder.
Thanks for watching mate will have to keep my eye out for the tortoise gear.
Just bought a huntsman last week.
Enjoy it mate thanks for watching.
Nice review of the Huntsman. I use the Farmer Alox and love it. It has thicker blades throughout. Thanks for sharing. new friend
Cheers mate. I have heard great things about the Farmer would like to try one out some time. Thanks for watching happy new year.
G'day mate. l have the Camper model and now the Huntsman . Both are awesome tools. Good review 👍
Couldn't agree more thanks for watching.
You are now able to start fires with you Huntsman with a couple of add ons from a company called Tortoise Gear in USA. Provides a ferro rod that replaces the tooth pick and tender that fits in your cork screw-works great
The corkscrew is also helpful with getting knots out of small cordage & shoe/boot strings.
Cork screw , not for me ,I’d rather have the Philips
@@marcdee4427 Yes, I have one with Phillips as well. It's great for indoor chores.
The best SAK for outdoors. The only thing that's missing from it is a ferro rod (you can buy the FireAnt firestarter - either the corkscrew version or the scale tool one - but the Huntsman doesn't come with it by default).
Will definitely look into on of these cool gadgets have heard they are an excellent upgrade for SAKs Thanks for watching mate.
Nice vid mate
Nice video thank you.
Thanks for watching.
How good is the steel? Everyone on UA-cam seem to have downer on it . What’s your opinion is it tough is it corrosion resistant is it any good 👍🏻
Hey mate I would say the steel is very good holds a sharp edge for a long time and is fairly corrosion resistant given proper maintenance i.e not being stored wet. Thanks for watching.
Sak Outrider vs Huntsman, which is better for trekking and why ?
Please share your knowledge!
Honestly bro the Outrider is a beast the fact the blade locks, it has a longer saw and an inline Philips driver is a pretty combo in my opinion. The Huntsman has the additional small blade and the parcel hook which is handy and is slightly cheaper in price. The Huntsman will do everything you need it to do no worries but in terms of over all ergonomics I think the Outrider is superior. Thanks for watching mate.
Solid review. I keep the Feild master in my hiking pack.
I have heard the Field master goes hard thanks for watching mate
Cool review man! Like that axe wall too. Is it coming into winter up your way yet?
Thanks dude looking forward to adding a few more to the axe collection. Sure is staring to get bloody cold now cheers for watching bro
nice
Thanks for watching
Thanks for watching.
The small screwdriver is actually a 2D Phillips driver. No one catches that one.
Indeed it is man comes in very handy for Changing batteries on small gadgets 👌👌 thanks for watching dude.
Hey great video! Mine finally just arrived in black. The mailman did drop it in the driveway. Knife seems ok but my ocdis taking some of the excitement out it. Does anyone know if these are drop resistant to some significant degree
Cheers mate have dropped my camper several times and had no damage at all maybe some minor scratches on the scales that are barely visible, I would say they are drop resistant in my opinion. Thanks for watching.
@@aussieaxedude154 thanks for the quick feedback. That’s a relief. It seems fine. Great knife. I want to start cutting and sawing random things. Great video too. It was a help in me settling on the huntsman so thank you
Man! Yes, it resists a more than 20 ft, since i use in My work, and sometimes .y tools drop for accidente, but yes, ir resist
Wish these came with the pin under the corkscrew :(
would definitely be a sweet little hidden treasure thanks for watching bro.
@@aussieaxedude154 Oh hey, thanks brother. Cheers
The ranger is better. I have the Huntsman, two actually one from the 70's and the newest version, a fieldmaster and the ranger. Also one handed trekker and rangergrip78
Yea nice mate, How much has the huntsman changed since the 70's? Thanks for watching.
The hook is useless for me. Never use it.
