Yup, Pierre Shale Formation in USA is not to be confused with the South Dakota's State Capital "Pierre".

The Pierre Shale Site on the Federal Public BLM or the Bureau Of Land Manegement Land is discovered by South Dakota School Of Mines, and used for Science.
