My 2000 2.3L had the same wiring as this post from bimmerforums: I spliced my LOCK signal from the remote to the wire at PIN #17 (white, red, yellow), and the UNLOCK signal from the remote unit to PIN #4 (Blue, red, yellow). These colours and connections are for 2002 Z3, I'm not sure if all are the same. Thank you for the tutorial! Definitely loving the hazard lights feature. Seattle, WA
I just wanted to send you a message to say thank you very much for your help in your video, I fitted a Chinese remote entry box to my Z3 2000 6 today and followed all your instructions and it worked perfectly all the lights too, and hazard, the way you described and explained second to none thanks again Peter in uk.
I purchased a locking module similar to yours with same handsets, I literally followed your video instructions and it works exactly the same, Great video thank you very much for thr help 👍
If your keyless entry stops working or is partially working, it is because the door close microswitch is broke. I unhooked it and it started working again.
Thank you man, had same wiring, except, please correct the lock and unlock wires. Red and blue with yellow strip AND blue and brown with yellow strip. Thanks again, really healpful!!
Thank you ,Very clear explanation video. But I have more question ,Cause of my key-less entry system have an open trunk button. Do you know which pin of central lock control module are control a trunk trigger?
As z3 trunk does not lift automatically (no spring) trunk trigger would not make much sense. That would only leave the trunk unlocked after you re done.
@@trufinv Yes, I known it won't pop-up when open a trunk. But I want to using an open trunk button. I seen an attach file that you have sent (8 months ago) , So I must connect my key-less entry system "trunk release (+)" to connector "X13253" on pin "3" right?

@@trufinv my instructions say to connect the flasher signal (alarm brown) directly to the cars blue/brown wire on the hazard switch. would this not have the same effect without the extra wires and relay?
How'd you get your pins? I'm checking a 1996,1997 and 1998 pin out and none of the pins (description/video) match. Using a BMW Electrical Troubleshooting Manual I found online.
@@Ghost129er At that time I looked it up online, but I always use a multimeter to make sure I have the proper ones. When I was young I installed car central locking systems and alarms at some point and never had any pinouts or schematichs, just a multimeter did the job.
I am not sure as my keyless acces cannot easily be used to do that. It should either maintain the relay open/closed while keeping the button on the remote or provide a channel with a big enough timer in order to do so. It can be adapted but I didn't bother. Perhaps you could use the pinouts bellow:

I've just installed a keyless entry on my 2002 2.2 ltr z3 using your excellent video. Thank you.

Thanks Peter. Really glad it helped.
I have a Z3 1998 and it has the alarm wire harness behind the glove box, so the connection is much easier. I wonder if you missed that.

@@trufinv It helped me too. Specially With the relay for the blinkers

It worked but it's not practical.
Did you put that fuse on the (12v) brown wire or did it come like that in the keyless entry kit? If you did add it on, what amp is it?
The keyless entry kit had the inline fuse. Not sure of the amperage.

The wire color coding could be different on other versions but you easily see that when installing. Glad to help.

Thank you, why not attach the positive wire directly to the parking lights?
I wanted the hazards to blink. For me it was easier to do it this way without much fuzz.

Hi when you wire through the gm5 this way does it activate the factory Alarm?
I don't know. You can try and see how it works out.
