Wanda Hendrix, (admiral,) was Audie Murphy's first wife. They divorced after 7 months due to his flashbacks where sometimes he held her at gunpoint for hours in the middle of the night.
United we Stand That's the kind of detail that is often left out of good old days depictions of the past. I read that in Britain there were vets who moved out of their homes to protect wives and kids, and moved in with other vets who understood what they were dealing with. The govt didn't want to acknowledge there was a problem. Shellshock was so severely dealt with in WWI Britain that people were afraid to say anything after WWII. I read that the govt didn't want to make people think the vets were maniacs who were unsafe to return to their communities. I suppose something similar happened in the US.
This is the first time I’ve seen Edmund O’Brien in a light comedy role. Somewhere on You Tube is an older O’Brien in an episode of the TV series Insight. He played the deceased but not departed multi millionaire who attends the reading of his will. His family is a collection of miserable people ever assembled to divvy up an estate. The one exception is the rich man’s nephew who believes that he can make it like his uncle did. The uncle gets out of his coffin and everyone but his nephew freezes. A discussion about what makes a happy life. The series was distributed by the Paulist Fathers and ran for seven years in the deadly time slot of 6 am on Sunday morning.
Mr. Bosch, Do you know of a link to the Show INSIGHT? I am searching but not finding the show you referenced. I sure would appreciate knowing more. Edmond O'Brien was a great actor and unfortunatly his career was cut short. Thank you in advance.
A very pleasant, light-hearted romantic comedy that was a pleasure to watch. But we never got to see Henry!!! Thanks for posting this wonderful gem of a movie. Joe S
Thanks so much for this light-hearted fun film.
I just love all Edmond OBriens movies.
Existence is redeemed by screwball comedies.

I saw this movie when it first came in 1950 as an eleven year old. Enjoyed it then, and still do.

If they were a bomber crew on an A-20 Boston, then they should be 3 guys, not 4.
