1:45 - Completing the knowledge stars gives you a unique legacy trait that will persist throughout the entire game. You can choose to get either +1 food, +1 production or +1 science per population in cities and outposts. It's really good honestly, it makes staying nomads for longer worth it, though personally I prefer staying in it longer because you can get more pops from ransacking sanctuaries than you can from growing in a city. 21:09 - Yep, this is the one. It's only given to you if you get those 10 knowledge curios. PS - All three options are really useful for war. Food to get more warriors, production to train units faster and science to get more advanced units. Honestly I'd be torn on which to pick. Also there is that civilization, I forget the name, maybe Harappans, that get the Runner unit. It's an oddly good choice for early warfare, because it's essentially a scout with +2 strength and better movement, so early on before warriors it actually allows you to dominate expansion locations, force the enemy to stay in their home/already acquired outposts and not go out to new spots.
34:50 - The speed at which an outpost is built is determined by how much industry is on that tile. I found that out the hard way in my first Victor game when I built my first outpost on a 21-food and 2-industry tile. It took something like 20 turns to build. Ended up making the second outpost my city.

32:00 - Oh yeah I ran into that too. Relocating is the answer, you put it on relocate for a couple turns then cancel the relocation. It's been reported on the forums so it should get fixed in the future.
This game looks really cool, kind of looks like what Civ 6 should've been IMO. I'm not sure if you're sponsored or anything, but I was wondering: Are there any criticisisms you have? Are there any things Civilization 5/6 does better? Are there any bugs, more than you would expect from a game in the early acces stage? No matter what you answer I still plan on picking up this game. Thanks for the clear videos! :)
I believe the increased influence cost on starting outposts increases the further you are trying to capture territory from your city. Stellaris has the same mechanic built in (though it is a little different) It seems these methods are implemented to stop the player from doing massive land grabs by taking strategic choke points spread across a large area. Thereby securing massive growth for themselves which can be parlayed into an easy win.
I would have went for the natural wonders much sooner. Can't say no to that early influence boost. Looking forward to the next part, I'm curious how you handled the grievances and casus beli, I found it quite hard to be a full time warmonger (and I did like it like all of Humankind).
The outpost has to finish building and be attached to a city before it can be considered adjacent. So its a good idea to build the city somewhere that has tiles connecting to lots of other territories.
You do a lot of exploration, which is interesting. Usually I just move everyone back to my city and disband them for working pops. Exploration does grant a lot of bonuses in its own right, I might try out a full exploration style at one point, or maybe balance the two approaches.
I like to try and scoop up all the boosts to research, and I also like to get a lay of the land as much as possible. I often wonder if I overdo it, and if I wouldn't be better served boosting population as you say/do!
@@PartyElite Well, getting the science curios in the nomad phase for the Legacy trait is 100% worth it. I tend to settle down pretty late too, but the moment I do I just put everything into it. Which actually is kind of risky, I think there's some merit in keeping more units out to hold back the AI, because they can become surprisingly aggressive sometimes. They can't act aggressively if you ransack their outposts first and/or don't let them settle new ones.
@@davidbodor1762 your strat is very risky if you have a particular culture in mind, but the neolithic LT is genuinely super useful too. Given how much time I spend playing paradox games I pay a lot of attention to scaling, snowballing and exponential growth, so I absolutely prefer settling earlier and having bigger cities as a result
@@pugsy7658 I play a metric ton of Paradox stuff too. I think oddly enough the Harrappans with their runners are one of the best at my style of risky play because that extra 2 strength on your scouts (runners) is insane for early defense/expansion. In my last Victor OD game, I ended the Neolithic Age with 9 tribes. I took them down and obliterated my neighbours while my city slowly grew. I didn't wipe them out, but they didn't bother me for a good long while. That was before I realized I could disband them into city population. Next time I'll do the same, but with a few going to the city.
Hi PartyElite :D. Do you have a video covering combats/war in Humankind? I have watched the beginners guide. I'm looking for something more in depth. That part of the game really don't come naturally to me haha. I'm really struggling with how to use my armys both in manually combats and generally during war. If you don't have such a video, would you ever consider making a warfare-humankind guide? I hope you're doing well. Thank you for all of your high quality content and happy birthday :).
Quick question how many ants would it take to eat a bunch of pigeons. As a side note If you're into rpg strategy survival games try out cataclysm dark days ahead, a very good game with a ton of depth but not as visually good looking but I would be very into you looking into that game.
Ahh, so, a pigeon, on average, weighs up to ~350 grams. An ant needs to consume around 1/3 of it's body weight per day. Ants weigh up to 5 milligrams, so lets round and say 1.5 mg can be eaten per ant per day. So, 350 x 1000 ÷ 1.5 = 233,333.333 ants per pigeon. Of course, please multiply this number by the number of pigeons in your bunch to arrive at the maximum ants needed :D
Thanks so much for this lets play, i am loving what you do. Also it seems religion is super weak and has almost no value in game play other than generating grievances ? Is the 'empire' difficulty the highest ? Also, is there anyway to protect your outposts from ransacking ? Thanks again :)
I'd say religion can be very powerful depending on the tenets you pick. They give you bonuses to your accumulation of different resources for the number of holy sites you build, or the number of territories (your own and other players') that are under your religion's influence. I've seen Let's Plays of Humankind where almost all the science output of the player was coming from holy sites and the tenet that generates science for each. To protect your outposts from ransacking I'd say you can keep an army on the tile, but that seems a bit obvious... not sure if there are fortifications you can build, but some cultures' unique districts replace the normal outpost and are partially fortified, iirc.
You should really try eq’ing out the low frequency of your voice. Right now it’s quite boomy in the low frequency. every comment? hmmmm? also great stream really showed more of what I was looking into how humankind played
Will you be playing as the Vikings?
I'm enjoying the video/humankind content. But considering this is your 2nd series playing humankind, do you need to explain all the basic mechanics again? If this is your style, I get it. But it's a little repetitive to have era stars explained after watching your last humankind series.
Yeah sorry I definitely over-explain in this video (despite literally saying I wouldn't). I shake it pretty quickly as of next episode, though. It's a habit whenever recording a pre-release game's footage - I've been working on improving it, but old habits die hard I guess!
Why no coop in this game?
If I prepurchase humankind will I be able to play? please someone answer
Only if they do another OpenDev. Right now I don't think there are any plans, but that might change!
