    Well back to Alt-History writing :D
    "The Harappans - also known as the Brahmaputra Valley Civilisation - was one of humankind's oldest settled civilisations [1]. Their origins can be traced back to the 8th millenium BCE and the ancient city of Harappa. Situated on the banks of the River Brahmaputra, nestled between the Himalayans to the north and the clouded uplands to the south, the area provided ideal conditions for early agriculture and husbandry.
    Starting with the 6th millenium BCE items associated with Harrapan cultures (like early wheel-made pottery and clay-inscriped calenders) can be found along the lower and middle streches of the river Ganges [2]. This appearance of Harappan items conincides with the vanishing of artifacts of earlier cultures, which are usually linked to proto-Babylonian populations [3]. This led some scholars (see e.g. Bandang & Campbell 2017) to suggest that these earlier groups were driven off by the expanding Harrapan culture. There are however no findings that indicate large scale violence or conflict between Harappans and the emerging Babylonians during the following centuries, letting this early period of Indian history appear overall peacefully."

      It's been amazing so far! Definitely think resources could be maybe a bit more spread out in some cases, but the terrain has been amazingly translated into gameplay - really pleased with the mountain passes in the Himalayas especially, for example. Awesome stuff - thanks for this great contribution to humankind - the game and the world =P

    Awww yeah.
    Side note on the pacifism, the archeological record does show quantities of weapons that suggest conflict wasn’t unheard of. And although no layers have been found to suggest large scale sacking of their cities, they did posses walls including fortifications and bastions that really serve no purpose outside of defence against others.
    So a little friendly warfare here and there makes sense. Maybe just avoid those Death Pits of Ur

    Just a quick note: the tea is currently giving you only the 2% food boost, not 5%. It is per tea, so if you exploited both that you have, you would get 4%. You only get the 5% food per tea, however, if you build the Hanging Gardens on a tea resource, or build a manufactory on one, which comes in the Medieval or Early Modern era.

    Little tip for the Canal Network placement, this quarter has an adjacency bonus with farmer quarters and it counts as a farmer quarter.
    This means that at 24:38 it was more convenient placing the canal network on the left and later place a second one on the other territory (the one you were ransacking). With two farmer quarters adjacent to both canals you would got a nice bonus.
    Plus it makes sense on the narrative side to, it’s a network of canals that extends on a river.

    • @PartyElite
      @PartyElite  3 роки тому +1

      Oof yeah good point. Definitely a little messy in this playthrough so far - there's something about recording narration while playing that can lead to some mistakes at times - at least for me haha.

  • @acestrelok
    @acestrelok 3 роки тому +3

    At 10:00 you made a mistake, you could have moved the newly created unit before ending turn. When picking up food on a river that creates a new unit, that new unit will have its full movement points despite the party having 0 since it just moved to a river. Looking forward to this series, thanks for the videos.

    I think if you would have attached your second region to your capital your enemy would have been forced back out of your territory since there was no war between your nations. Not a 100% sure but I'm quite confident that would have been the play to keep them from ransacking your region...

    Is it just me, or does anyone else also look at strategy and world building games as an application of everything one has learnt in History? I remember learning Babur bringing in Canons and utterly destroying the Delhi sultanate in the process, but it wasn't until I played Civ did I realize how strong the canons were in laying down sieges, especially when your opponent is barely discovered niter or gun powder.
    This reminds me, @PartyElite how about choosing Umayyads in Medieval Era? I mean obv they have got little to do with India, but Muslims did come to India in the 7th Century (and Ibrahim Lodi was a Sultan after all) and it would make sense from a role playing perspective.

    • @PartyElite
      @PartyElite  3 роки тому +2

    • @danielkjm
      @danielkjm 3 роки тому

      @@PartyElite Yes, but its a bit too strange to me. Its not very immersive, and it makes the player has no connection to its culture, and it makes roleplay really hard. It would be like playing HOI IV but every 1 hour your Focus Tree would reset and change to a random one.

    • @stefanb155
      @stefanb155 3 роки тому

      It would make sense on this "real world map", but that is user modded and not part of the base game. On the random maps of the base game, it is all fictional anyway, which is exactly the point of the game. Rewrite Humankind. I would not be surprised though, if the add some option or even an DLC later, that is more focused to staying closer to actual humankind history. That he was surrounded by rather aggressive AI from beginning, is probably because the map is not that large, new world probably is enabled (no one spawned in America), and of the relatively high difficulty setting (Empire).

      So Khmer were an offshoot from India, yes, but they then became a different people down the line as their culture evolved. Meanwhile, Mongols invaded Persia and the Mongol-Persian blend is what brought us the Mughals who were the key rulers in India before the British came along. In this playthrough I'm trying to get to that 'modern day Indian culture' - so the Mongols are a step in that direction.

    if i understood corectly, you can play and form as Roman Empire but switch to Chinese asian culture?

    • @PartyElite
      @PartyElite  3 роки тому

      That's right - well maybe not exactly in that order, but that's how you can move around between regional cultures over the eras, getting new unique units / buildings in each stage of the game to keep it interesting.

    Why at the start of the Neolithic era u only needed to collect 10 science “objects” and only needed 5 units. While I had to collect 20 and 10 apiece?

      Game speed determines how many pickups you need! Like in Blitz you only need 1

    I was a big fan of Party's channel for a while, but to hear a blasphemous heresy of not eating breakfast after 3pm(!) ... 😱 left me disappointed and heartbroken 😭💔 I am not quite sure if I will be able to live my life as I did before such news. 😓

    Just wanted to inform you that science and scientific thinking thinking has always been one of the corner stones of all the subcontinent civilisations, until the British came along. So do not hesitate to be scientifically oriented. Historically we have not been the religious cow worshipers that the western media claims us to be. The subcontinent is diverse in every imaginable way and has been throughout the history. So use those science boosts :)

      Ah fear not the sciences will feature where and when fitting too - though I couldn't shake the thought of the instructional rigidity of the Vedas when it came to that chicken decision haha.

    Can't say I'm a big fan of the proportion of the map. It's too small and feels like a miniature. A city's size feels like a large kingdom.

      Yeah, it just feels wrong. Not tempted to try it myself. Hope the game can support a better scaled real world map in the future. Also the AI spawns... So many opponents are very close to him. Who is in Western/Eastern Europe, Russia, Afrika, Australia (if that is even large enough) ? Wonder if this is due to how the map was done, Game limitations, or difficulty setting.

    Every time I play the A.I always pick Mycenaean that’s the only one I haven’t played yet as it always gets snagged first pick. They are probably mediocre to play anyways but would be nice still

      I've had fun with them! Wild that they always get picked first - try to change which AI personalities you're up against?

      Thanks for replying and yeah I might have to do that. I do always try and mix up the AI at least one of each difficulty but I don’t know if traits can effect which cultures they pick? Probably not but is a thought
