That doesn’t stop buzzing, that stops whiring from a dry bearing. Buzzing is from the transformer and that’s what I was hoping this would be a fix for.
Yeah this video does not stop buzzing, it only stops whirring from dry bearings....I've never seen a transformer inside a ceiling fan so maybe you are like me and have solved dozens of BUZZING from bad capacitors? Yeah bad ceiling fan caps I have seen dozens of times cause buzzing and the fix was to just replace it. So maybe thats what you mean...
Buzzing noise could also be from a dimmer if fan is on a dimmer.

If the motor buzzes (not grind, rattle or jingle) and you have a fan speed selector on the wall, the problem is most likely a bad wall switch. Replace the wall speed selector switch and the buzz should stop. This is especially true if you have a rheostat rather than a three or four-way speed selector switch.
Hi I have a ceiling fan that just stopped turning. When I turn it on it will hum. The motor is hard to turn by hand. I’m hoping it’s just dried out bearings. What lube do you use so I can pick some up and try to get it turning again.
Mine sounds like a metal rubbing noise. I am guessing I have to lube the bearings. Please advise. Its not a loud noise.
I have a floor fan. It has a short circuit sound coming from the back in the windings of the motor. Any suggestions?
You were very vague on the oil and didn't show it to the camera nor give a before after results.
3 in one 20 weight electric motor oil
Can you use wd40 with silicon??? Or do you need to use this motor oil?
how did you take out the motor from the fan?
could the noise be "wrong wired?"
My ceiling fan has blades, a light fixture and attaches to the ceiling via fasteners that need to be removed, but, hey, great video!
Lol
Then take it down and take the blades off if required instead of being a whiny bitch.
Step one. Find ladder and aluminum bat. Step two. Smash fan until the housing falls apart like a pinata.
For all those bitching about the oil not being visible. Its all-in-one oil or 3 in one. Various names but the common oil bottle for household applications such as hinges etc. Do not use wd-40. It is not a lubricant and will dry up.
I just installed a new one and it loud. Could I have tighten it to much during the installation or something?
So when my fan had low low low med low high, med low, med med med high, high low high medium high high, when I turn it off on high it jst spins slow xnd gums, thn the same for high low and high med, but it strted to do it xn sme if the med speeds or low hgh speed, xnd maybe neyind bt it’s barley even noticeable, bt lke,/…why does it do it/the xthers xn hgh
Will Sewing Machine oil work?
Yes
Nothing worse than stale light bulbs. Wtf?
It seems to
Spin good to excellent or so
Techy question for you.
Ceiling fan with 3 speeds on the pull switch hums when on.
Fitted a 4 speed wall switch, set the fan to fastest speed 3 and wall switch to slow 1 - and fan is humming significantly quieter with fan rotating at similar speed to original pull switch speed 1.
So what part of the fan electrics would cause pull switch Speed 1 (the speed normally used) to hum more than speed 3 ?
voltage change
So what part needs to be changed to remove that hum at all voltage ?
@@markellis7819 I RECTIFIED BY ADDING A STABILIBER TO THE FAN
Hey, my fan makes a noise like buzzing but the catch is, only when power is being given to it.
Etc. If I turn my fan off and it's still spinning, the noise doesnt continue it immediately stops after being powered off.
Same here new hunter 64 inch from Costco. Only when powered
Do you have a dimmer switch hooked to it? If so change it to a regular switch and then see if the noise is still there.
Can I oil the bearings without taking the fan down?
If you don’t add oil, and you continue to use the fan, will the fan die?
I have a buzzing like an alarm clock but when the fan is off not in use and seems to only go off at 3 AM in the morning and then stops when it wants to. So frustrating. The light in receptacle has a snap wire and I burn through bulbs insanely fast. $300 ceiling fan from Lowe’s is absolute garbage
All mine was, was the light cover was loose.
It’s the tornado industrial 56” wth 60” blades from a Hampton bay industrial tht i or/installed in Christmas smetme
fresh light bulbs about to break ??? wth
I expected more from eHow
Very bad haven buzzy fan in your room at stage
Flip it an oil the other side- not the bearing, but under the nut that holds the switch/wiring housing? Hmmm... and thanks for showing the side of the oil so we have no easy way to read the label. Maybe that's best.
???🤔🤔🤔🤨🤨🤨🧐🧐🧐🤷♂️🤷♂️Hgh hgh seems to be ok. Maybe a tad barley noticeable thng jst a tad louder a decibel or 2/two/3/three on hgh, bt lke still,/…/???🤔🤔🤔🤨🤨🧐🧐🧐🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️Oh I’m nt really worried and it hgh hgh as mch as the hgh med and hgh lxw, bt well yeah, is it motor electrical problems or bearings or wht??🤔🤔🤔🤨🤨🤨🧐🧐🧐🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️I’ve had it since 17 fr Christmas, xnd fr awhile I’d run slot on low wth a modified blades after awhile, bt lke still
ima just buy a new ceiling fan fuck this
You can tell he has the Irish curse.
Sounds like YOU can tell... lol
This video is vague.

Mine too
Same here. The noise sounds like it's coming from inside the walls more than the fan itself... And if I push up on the casing for the light it stops making the noise until I let go
Just started happening last night and it's very frustrating
By any chance did this ever get resolved? I'm having the same issue 😭
@@krishyxxxx Mine is on a dimmer switch and was turned down half way.Once I turned it up,buzzing was gone.
Chances are you ALL have a switch that is not meant for a ceiling fan. I see that one person mentioned that they have a dimmer and the noise only goes when it's all the way up. Change the dimmer back to a regular switch or get a dimmer rated for a ceiling fan.
