  • www.VideoJoeKnows.com How to fix a ceiling fan stuck in one speed (Part 1) is easy...when you know how.
Joe has a little trick he wants to show you to where you can fix your ceiling fan yourself & not have to call someone
else to come out to fix it. You don't even know if they can fix it & they will probably tell you (just your luck)
that the ceiling fan can't be repaired & you might as well replace the entire ceiling fan with a new one. Funny
how every time you call someone out to look at something for you they want you to replace whatever you have with a
new one! I'm sick of hearing that!!! Get in there & look at your ceiling fan & see what it's going to take to fix
the stuck ceiling fan speed. Maybe you can just fix it yourself. Good thing Joe is here (AGAIN) to help assist you
with your dilemma. Joe just had this same issue happen on a service call he went on & lucky for you he made this
video! Take a quick look & you will see that if an average Joe can fix a stuck ceiling fan speed so can you!

I remember doing that to Casablanca Concentra in hotel room except that there was still a bit of chain left inside chain nut after I unscrewed it. So all I had to do was unscrew chain nut, pull the chain, and screw it back in. The chain sequence on that Concentra is low, medium, high, off which could confuse the hotel.

Nice job with your fix! Yes that will work for sure if the chain didn't break off back behind further..

I always thought the chain was to reverse the direction of the blades. Now I know it adjusts the speed and I was able to fix my fan that was stuck on low. Thank you!

Gald you watched this video! If your ceiling fan has two chains then one chain is for a light kit & the other one as you saw is for low, medium, high, & off for the ceiling fan operation. If you want to reverse the direction of your ceiling fan there should be a little switch towards the top side of the ceiling fan motor & you would push it for the other way. For summer the air should be blown directly down under the ceiling fan. For winter you should reverse the operation as this will help direct the heat in your room for a more uniform effect. I also have lots more videos for you to check out. Just go to my main UA-cam channel page then click on playlists then scroll down for all kinds of ways for YOU to save money! Try it...

My Ceiling fan chain is in the fast setting but still runs slow. Could it be wiring or a bad wall switch??

Hmmmmnot seen that before but yes maybe the fan wall switch is old & in need of replacement? What did you end up finding to be the issue?

What if you have the same problem but the fan doesn't come with a pull chain? I have an older Casablanca stealth ceiling fan that is controlled via a wall panel. The stealth has six (?) speeds... the light works perfectly fine - only problem is it only works on one speed. The system beeps as it cycles through what would normally be the fan speed increasing, but the fan speed doesn't change. The fan is no longer serviced, and I've exhausted my enquiries on this, including with the manufacturer. The only option is purchasing another circuit and wall panel that only has three speeds (they no longer manufacture the original Casablanca controls), or a new fan. These fans are over $600 so I'd like to fix it if possible. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I know this was over 4 years ago but what did you end up doing in order to fix? My guess is that you weren't able to find anything to make the fix & ended up taking a sledge hammer to it & went down to your local store & got a new ceiling fan...? Ceiling fans now days you can get for around $250 or less with the hand held remote etc. & seem to work just as good as casablancas.....

Ha! I'm disappointed to say that I did end up buying a new fan. It wasn't about the money though, it was about my need to fix things, and style - I love the Casablanca style. I also bought a circuit board, or whatever they're called - the brains of the Casablanca - to try to fix the problem that way, but have yet to install it. I would have loved to fix this glitch without having to replace it. I'm still convinced there is a solution. Hopefully someone else who figured it out will come across this and enlighten all of us. @@VideoJoeKnows

Hi, I would like to bypass the remote control module of my ceiling fan/light to be able to use a wall switch with 2 buttons (one to turn on the fan, and another to turn on the led light).
From my ceiling I got 4 wires: fan-light-neutral-ground
From the ceiling fan I have 5 wires: blue-white from the light, and black-red-white from the motor
Please let me know how to attach them together to achieve what I want. TIA!

    • @VideoJoeKnows
      @VideoJoeKnows  Рік тому

Why do you want to bypass the hand held remote? The hand held remote is really the best way to operate your ceiling fan. If your hand held remote is not working then chances are all you would have to do is change out the battery in the hand held remote. If you want to do away with the hand held remote you will need to go up to the ceiling and remove the circuit module sensor unit that is wired up in there at the ceiling fan ceiling junction box. Now you will be able to operate the ceiling fan with the two light switches you have on the wall. One will be for the ceiling fan light & one will be for the ceiling fan motor operation. You will then also have to be aware that the ceiling fan light will not be able to dim unless you install a dimmer light switch in the wall where the standard light switch is for the ceiling fan light. You also will have to be aware that if you just want to operate the ceiling fan by a wall light switch the switch will only turn the ceiling fan on & off & then if you want the ceiling fan in the medium or low speed you will have to have a ceiling fan that has a pull string to turn the ceiling fan to high, medium, low, off, on by pulling on the chain. Seems like a lot of hassle to rewire the ceiling fan this way rather than to have the hand held remote for operating the ceiling fan as well as the ceiling fan light. See what I mean? Each wall switch should have a black wire that goes up to the ceiling fan junction box as well as a white & green. So now all the wires that are up in the ceiling all of the greens you would connect together making sure you have the green pigtails coming from the ceiling fan motor & the ceiling fan housing connection also connected together for all the greens under one wire nut. Now all the whites get connected together under a separate wire nut & pushed back up in the junction box. The blue wire coming from the ceiling fan motor is for the light so you can connect the blue wire to the black wire that goes down to your wall switch....you can decide which wall switch black wire to connect the blue wire to. Not sure why you have a red wire coming out from the motor as I have not seen that generally only a blue wire, a green wire, a white wire, & a black wire generally are coming out of a ceiling fan motor area. Now the black wire will be connected to the other light switch that will then operate & turn on the ceiling fan motor. Like I said not sure why you have a red wire coming out of the ceiling fan motor so not sure where you would connect that one up to or maybe you just wouldn't connect it up to anything & put a wire nut on it separate & just not connect it for now & see what happens. Let me know if you have any questions...

@@VideoJoeKnows Thank you so much for your prompt response. Yes, I know that for some people using a remote sounds convenient, but in my case, i got too many remotes already for different devices, so it has become a nightmare to remeber which is which. Now you get me haha.
Can you please give me your email or whatsapp so i can share pictures with you? that way you will be able to help me better

@@juliofabrega916 Ha! I get you about having too many remotes & always looking around to find the right one. What I would suggest you do is when you purchased the ceiling fan, most ceiling fans come with a little plastic holder for your hand held remote. I took one of those plastic holders & attached it right close to some other light switches I had on the wall & just leave the hand held remote right there & turn it on & off & everything right there on the wall using it like a light switch! Why not just do that? It would save you so much time & effort. As for wanting to send me pics & questions then I have an idea for you. I created a facebook group page over a year ago for the DIY'er! The facebook group page is called DIY Home Improvement Made Easy. All you have to do is type that in when you are on your facebook page (if you have one) then the group page should pop up & it's easy to join. Then you can post pics & questions anytime & all the members will see your pics & questions. I have 4600 people in the group so far & people keep joining. It's a place where other members can post their howto videos or pics & I post lots of my UA-cam channel videos on there so there's lots of videos on the group pages for members to save money around the house. You should join then you can send me pics & questions any time you wish. How about that?
