i think i remember Hakita saying during the dev stream that you, V1, aren’t the main character of the story, and that obviously results in Gabriel being the main character (also with the biggest character arc) So i think having Gabriel not be the last boss fight, or having him die anticlimactically as a result of losing the holy light, wouldn’t make a lot of sense. i really love this theory though. i think it’s reasonable to expect Hell as an entity that we see more lore with (and maybe a bossfight) especially in the prime sanctums, but to have it in the main story seems like a bit of a stretch, especially considering most of the Hell lore we have now is a result of hints, secrets and the ARG

If we do fight the tree of life at the end of hell, a boss fight that moves the stage would be super cool. We see a lot of set stages and the only variation and moving we see is in cybergrind.
Assuming supreme machines have some semblance of consciousness (they do, for ex. V1 hates V2 and V2 is a show off), it would make sense for hell to torture earthmovers by removing the sun that powered them in their previous life and make them fight each other indefinitely. Earthmovers most likely dont recieve sunlight at all. The one earthmover we fight in 7-4 has its feet covered in roots of the forest from 7-3 (as explained by Hakita in the dev stream). Earthmovers are powered by blood only and all of the blood comes from you, other machines and sinners fighting each other in the forest.
Great theory! I think this would be really cool to see at the end of hell. One thing I've been thinking about is the connection between the circulatory systems in the prime souls and the tree of life; I think that heaven fears prime souls because they have some life-creating ability, similar to the tree of life.

I feel like 9-2 will be like the panopticon, but for gabriel (when he gets to half, he gets crushed by lucifer, or whatever Hakita decides to do). I really doubt we'll get a HELL boss fight, though P-3 might be a candidate for a final fight. Aside from allat, great theory video! The editing on this one is just magnificent.
gabriel has nearly as much buildup as hell, except a lot less subtle. he's going to appear as a boss, one way or another. if your theory is true, then hell is more likely to be a p-3 boss, but there also seems to be buildup for an actual prime soul boss for that (see the terminal files for the minotaur). if hell is a boss, i'll bet hakita will find some way to make it appear in the most unexpected way possible.
Imagine if V1 would team up with Gabriel to fight hell itself. I certainly don't think it's likely, but imagine how cool it would look. Perhaps Gabriel will unite with us if defeating hell means saving his life

ur right but the only thing I'd disagree with is the gabriel arc thing. you could still fight gabriel and end his story while also concluding the underlying narrative of the game. like if the original star wars trilogy just ended with vader dying and the emperor was solely kept as a background character, but that's just my view on it ig plus, while v1 is just some lucky ass machine, at the end of the day it IS probably the most dangerous weapon ever produced by humanity, capable of felling nearly all of its other constructs (that we've seen, at least.). It could have narrative significance against hell, the endless, all-powerful tormenter created by god versus the insignificant, yet powerful man-made reaper that inadvertently gives the tormented the only liberty they can have now: death. Two useless machines, born out of hate, bringing death to one another. Isn't it more likely that the Earthmovers and the Guttermen/Guttertanks died and got sent to Hell, rather than it just bringing them down there? I think that would be way more interesting and impactful than the idea of Hell just taking them down for its entertainment, especially since we know from the Gutterman's diary in 7-2 that the machines are sentient and capable of deep thought and emotion.

cool video but the theory is predicated on a fundamental misunderstanding of the violence layer. hell didnt just zap the machines into hell. the war machines were given blood, blood = life, and life = eventual death. the machines died in the great war *and went to hell for their sins*.
hakita (iirc) has said that only humans get the afterlife treatment, machines and angels don't have souls, so they don't get to live after they die (which is why the angels are so scared of prime souls)
I find the artwork on the crosses to be eerily similar to the beating heart in the background of 3-2. It may be a coincidence,but perhaps it marks how significant the first confrontation between Gabriel and V1 was. edit: holy fuck Blood = Life also means that Minos’ JUDGEMENT would actually be reasonable holy shiiit and could also explain V1’s more sentient acts like comments on V2.
This is a crackshoot theory and its a damn good one. Ive been thinking the same thing and youre right, hell should be the final boss which probably also ends the life of the machines being controlled by hell and as well us. Fueling the machines with a thirst for blood, Hell finishes what it started, being the creation of life and then the destruction of it.
I liked the video, so copying from your idea I have made mine in the same time as the video. As.we reach the final layer of hell and the heart of life seems ever closer V1 destroys all that remains of hells defences and jumps at the last level to fight gabriel, unable to keep fighting and weakened from having the light of god removed from him gabriel dies, but his soul, due to having resisted the will of the council and finding purpose in himself escapes, now v1 enter the last part of hell: P-3 The truth is revealed as hell goes in with full force, pulling every enemy, every mini boss and boss as reconstituded beings of blood, you pounce at the mights of copies of minos, the leviathan, the minotaur and sisyphus all strike at v1, and all fall just as the real versions and the v1 fall to the last room the final part of hell, where no being, not even god had steped foot on. The arena is pitch black, the suddenly without warning a healt bar appears, with the name of what all came to "Hell". The arena lights up and we a mounstrous heart which beats with malignant intent and power, as the last defences appear, all husks, demons, machines and angels appear to stop v1, and the when all that is done hell finally fights, yet seems to be unable to be killed, to quickly he regenerates hp, to quickly his defences rises, there is no hope of victory, then when hope seemed to die as v1 is on it's last strings the prime soul of gabriel appears and with all of it's might stabs the heart of life, a roar is heard across all of creation as hell screams in pain for the first time and as the veins grab him firm.and crush gabriel he utters the last of his words before just like minos and sisyphus dies again. "End this..." With that gabriel is destroyed but hells defences went with gabriel, v1 takes the advantage and pounces on the weakened heart, shooting at it with its whole weaponry, and as the heart bleeds and dies all of hell begins to be undone. And so the final part of the level plays out, and you are given but 1 directive: ESCAPE. And so it is that you escape P-3, climb out of the collapseing treachery, flee from the destroyed fraud, reach and breach violence once more, escape from heresy, dash and fly across and out of wrath, ascend the crumbaling pyramid of greed, escape the exploding mess that glutony became, leave the city of lust to the fate of destruccion and see limbo one last time as it falls to reveal its true form, the preilude last a bit longer due to its distance from the dying heart and finally escape hell in its entirety. And as you reach the surface you see how hell implodes, bursting into flames and holy fire. You sit and watch the death of hell, your ordeal over. And you get you rank. I think if we do fight hell itself then the fight will start with Gabriel either already lying dead infront of the heart or us watching him attempt to kill it and die trying. Also the first time we encounter Gabriel he is standing infront of a heart, so it would be nice juxtaposing if Gabriel and the "heart of life" would be in the same level.

ur right but the only thing I'd disagree with is the gabriel arc thing. you could still fight gabriel and end his story while also concluding the underlying narrative of the game. like if the original star wars trilogy just ended with vader dying and the emperor was solely kept as a background character, but that's just my view on it ig
plus, while v1 is just some lucky ass machine, at the end of the day it IS probably the most dangerous weapon ever produced by humanity, capable of felling nearly all of its other constructs (that we've seen, at least.). It could have narrative significance against hell, the endless, all-powerful tormenter created by god versus the insignificant, yet powerful man-made reaper that inadvertently gives the tormented the only liberty they can have now: death. Two useless machines, born out of hate, bringing death to one another. I know gabriel IS the main character, and v1 is just a robot at the end of the day, would be a rather forgettable and boring ending if the entire game just ended with the same fight as the last two chapters but this time angel guy doesn't have an excuse for running away. hell wouldn't have to REPLACE gabe as a boss in my mind, it would just be something that comes afterwards.

Isn't it more likely that the Earthmovers and the Guttermen/Guttertanks died and got sent to Hell, rather than it just bringing them down there? I think that would be way more interesting and impactful than the idea of Hell just taking them down for its entertainment, especially since we know from the Gutterman's diary in 7-2 that the machines are sentient and capable of deep thought and emotion.
hakita has said that machines dont have souls and literally dont have an afterlife, only humans do (during the 1st dev commentary i believe)

@@pman56789 ok upon a really quick inspection, it isnt from the dev commentary but from one of his various discord messages that he likes to drop lore in that ive seen posted a lot. you cant send images in yt comments and you could probably find it pretty easily but i'll just say what it says here: "people are the exception in getting an afterlife but that's just a one-time thing, when a demon or an angel or a machine dies they're gone, when a person dies their soul is either placed in heaven or hell, and if they die after that they're gone"

cool video but the theory is predicated on a fundamental misunderstanding of the violence layer. hell didnt just zap the machines into hell. the war machines were given blood, blood = life, and life = eventual death. the machines died in the great war *and went to hell for their sins*.
hakita (iirc) has said that only humans get the afterlife treatment, machines and angels don't have souls, so they don't get to live after they die (which is why the angels are so scared of prime souls)

I find the artwork on the crosses to be eerily similar to the beating heart in the background of 3-2. It may be a coincidence,but perhaps it marks how significant the first confrontation between Gabriel and V1 was.
edit: holy fuck Blood = Life also means that Minos’ JUDGEMENT would actually be reasonable holy shiiit and could also explain V1’s more sentient acts like comments on V2.
P-3 heart prison
This is a crackshoot theory and its a damn good one. Ive been thinking the same thing and youre right, hell should be the final boss which probably also ends the life of the machines being controlled by hell and as well us. Fueling the machines with a thirst for blood, Hell finishes what it started, being the creation of life and then the destruction of it.
I liked the video, so copying from your idea I have made mine in the same time as the video.
As.we reach the final layer of hell and the heart of life seems ever closer V1 destroys all that remains of hells defences and jumps at the last level to fight gabriel, unable to keep fighting and weakened from having the light of god removed from him gabriel dies, but his soul, due to having resisted the will of the council and finding purpose in himself escapes, now v1 enter the last part of hell: P-3
The truth is revealed as hell goes in with full force, pulling every enemy, every mini boss and boss as reconstituded beings of blood, you pounce at the mights of copies of minos, the leviathan, the minotaur and sisyphus all strike at v1, and all fall just as the real versions and the v1 fall to the last room the final part of hell, where no being, not even god had steped foot on.
The arena is pitch black, the suddenly without warning a healt bar appears, with the name of what all came to "Hell".
The arena lights up and we a mounstrous heart which beats with malignant intent and power, as the last defences appear, all husks, demons, machines and angels appear to stop v1, and the when all that is done hell finally fights, yet seems to be unable to be killed, to quickly he regenerates hp, to quickly his defences rises, there is no hope of victory, then when hope seemed to die as v1 is on it's last strings the prime soul of gabriel appears and with all of it's might stabs the heart of life, a roar is heard across all of creation as hell screams in pain for the first time and as the veins grab him firm.and crush gabriel he utters the last of his words before just like minos and sisyphus dies again.
"End this..."
With that gabriel is destroyed but hells defences went with gabriel, v1 takes the advantage and pounces on the weakened heart, shooting at it with its whole weaponry, and as the heart bleeds and dies all of hell begins to be undone.
And so the final part of the level plays out, and you are given but 1 directive: ESCAPE.
And so it is that you escape P-3, climb out of the collapseing treachery, flee from the destroyed fraud, reach and breach violence once more, escape from heresy, dash and fly across and out of wrath, ascend the crumbaling pyramid of greed, escape the exploding mess that glutony became, leave the city of lust to the fate of destruccion and see limbo one last time as it falls to reveal its true form, the preilude last a bit longer due to its distance from the dying heart and finally escape hell in its entirety.
And as you reach the surface you see how hell implodes, bursting into flames and holy fire.
You sit and watch the death of hell, your ordeal over.
And you get you rank.
And so the credits roll, with V1 left alone in the dead earth.
Life as a concept is gone, heaven died with the heart of life, every single living being dies without said heart. Leaving v1 Alone.
Alone as the blood that power him dries out.
One final message is seen.
Mankind is dead.
Hell is dead.
It's the end.
i feel like killing hell is more of a 9-1 thing before fighting gabriel in an arena struggling to maintain life
I think if we do fight hell itself then the fight will start with Gabriel either already lying dead infront of the heart or us watching him attempt to kill it and die trying.
Also the first time we encounter Gabriel he is standing infront of a heart, so it would be nice juxtaposing if Gabriel and the "heart of life" would be in the same level.
