Like if you made a video about the mechanics surrounding trees and under what exact circumstances they will or won't grow from a sapling? Would smash. Cause that stuff often ends up being practically useful, too, for example knowing that I mine blocks faster at the edge of my range as opposed to closer to me, or that a creeper explosion won't hurt me as long as im breaking LOS between it and my shins... both are examples of knowledge I've utilised countless times to my benefit, but I would never have known that if it weren't for the more "nerdy" videos that are made for that purpose.

Typically you would use magma cubes in the nether to save on name tags, and honestly, nobody cares about stopping striders from spawning. but the trick with oozing potions is so great, you can use it anywhere in the world.
@@ItsSilverMoon well, you name tag 2-3 large magma cubes, and slice them down to 16 small persistent magma cubes and you have a mob switch, the oozing potion always making median magma cubes, which require 6 to 8 name tags to have 16 persistent slimes.
For a global mob switch, you can use sitting dogs, this will disable their pathfindings and prevent lags. Additionaly you can build it on a chunk border and use pistons to move the dogs between always loaded and not always loaded chunk. But only do this if you don't care about advancement because this requires one command.

this isnt working for me, i setup what im pretty sure is 9 persistent zombies, some are zombie villagers, all the mobs still spawn on surface level Just tested it in a creative world using naturally spawned zombies, gave them all a iron helmet, got 8 exactly, i flew around a little and hostiles were still spawning, when i flew back to where i have my zombies, 2 more zombies spawned 5 blocks away. does this actually work? what am i doing wrong?

@@jenv.7995 I have 2 examples where a minecart with hopper, and a Minecart with chest will stop 1 block before or after getting to / leaving a powered rail. They cannot be pushed by the player in the direction they were travelling. you can either push it the other direction, or break it. One is next to a wall, the other is not. they stop on the same block every time, breaking and replacing the rails does not fix it. These farms have been working for months - just stopped after a recent update. still need to investigate if it's chunk related...
So here’s a question, I may have missed it, but say you want to build a mob farm on the ground instead of the sky, what happens if you do the cave spawn switch, but leave the surface as just the mob farm. How would that affect rates? Obviously it would affect some, but I’m thinking just for looks. Instead of having a large structure in the sky, you could have two large structures that can be integrated into a build, but also get items as you work. I know cave spawns are a big issue with rates, so if the cave spawns are off, what would just a surface spawn enabled mob farm do?
I’d replace the second subtract mode comparator and just redstone dust along the side and target block them next to the dispenser/dropper to save a comparator

I had made the boats and slime 9 chunk preventer up in the nether, as I wanted to build an "overworld village" in the nether and needed to get rid of ghasts, but after the most recent update that stopped working. I still need to see if something happened to the slime I had there, and try to recreate it to make sure it wasn't just a local problem but I figured I would share. I play on realms by the way. EDIT: Turns out, the slimes despawned after the update. They were from nametagged mediums so I don't know why they despawned. Creating them again seemed to fix the issue.
@jans_ I have only made the nether one, unfortunately, so I am unsure if there is something different. I can confirm that the nether one is still currently working. The one thing I did differently was I got enough name tags to manually name all the slime to make sure they wouldn't despawn.

Are you sure shulkers don't fill the mob cap? We had a shulker farm that got out of hand and no more mobs would spawn in the world when we were in range of it.

the global mob switch fills all caps and stops everything from spawning, passive and hostile. mob switchs dont effect spawners, raids, wardens, iron farms, villagers etc though.
@@silentwispererso, I was trying to create a one player sand duper using the end gates method, I used rails and a ethos clock to send me to the end islands, avoiding lagging too much cuz of the falling sand, and a comparator attached to the final hopper in the collection system to send me back to the main end island. It gave me a result of 3k /hour, however, using the simulation distance limits and timing, it's possible to improve the results. I think it'd be a very nice farm to bedrock players if u do your magical redstone touch. Huge thanks for ur work buddy!

yes, you'll probably want to bring in some hostile surface mobs from the overworld though. or make a platform at void level with named endermen, so they cant teleport up or around

Trying to understand what is meant by 9 x9 chunk area when the shape is not a square, I’m trying to build based off the edge of my wither farm, planning on doing one in all 4 directions, should I just be building 144 blocks (9 chunks) in each direction and setting them up there?

I already built mob switch with wolfs and a ticking area command so i can turn it on and off but th issue in the last three or four updates even if i turn it off still no mobs spown i even get rid of ticking area but the 200 wolf are still alive of course because it's hard to get them 😂😂 so if you have any ideas that can help me fix it or shall i remove all the wolfs
I would think as long as a chunk remains unloaded that the elder guardian would spawn in when you load the chunk. (Chunk would need to be loaded without the mob switch)

You need 16 persistent mobs. So eight boats with 2 zombies in each. I did this with slime underground and it worked perfectly.

foxy have a chunk loader resource pack, its very reliable also, I've been using it for quite a while now. though it is kind of expensive to craft
thats a chunk border pack, not a chunk loader. only way to get chunk loaders is to use a ticking area
The Canopy mod has a feature where minecarts can load a 5*5 chunk area around them for 10 seconds when first dispensed.

its all the same:) your local mob switches if spread out, probably wont be in unloaded chunks though. so they'll count towards the global cap

bedrock doesn't have spawn chunks. you have to be near the farm/area for anything to work:)

I believe the java numbers are way different. Are you saying tamed dog and cats count against your hostile mob cap or peaceful mob cap?

watch the part about the chunk layouts. the loaded area around the player (sim distance) is a diamond. the density checks are 9x9 chunk squares

Mine isn’t working, I don’t know what I’ve done wrong. I’ve got the 8 zombies and 16 slimes all named and hostile mobs are still spawning right next to my house

One question, will this make my game laggy? Cause i just want to make my base mob free.
And also how can i make some mobs despawn which are in caves holding an item and they are staying in my world for months.
only way to force those to despawn is peaceful mode
unless you have a lot these switches arent really going to cause lag

@@TomTom22337 Not without mods/plug-ins. If you want one, I believe foxynotail has a plug-in for that.
I cant remember did they remove end chunks?
I already built mob switch with wolfs and a ticking area command so i can turn it on and off but th issue in the last three or four updates even if i turn it off still no mobs spown i even get rid of ticking area but the 200 wolf are still alive of course because it's hard to get them 😂😂
so if you have any ideas that can help me fix it or shall i remove all the wolfs
Does this permanently kill elder guardians? Switching to peaceful does, meaning no more armor trim.
I would think as long as a chunk remains unloaded that the elder guardian would spawn in when you load the chunk. (Chunk would need to be loaded without the mob switch)
@@bradymarks9389 was wondering about the chunk being loaded or not like you say. I don't know enough about how stuff spawns so could be worth creative if ppl think chunk never loaded then turn off mob switch before going to that chunk and might work.
