  • The D-30KP turbofan engine, designed by Pavel Soloviev and manufactured by UEC-Saturn in Rybinsk, Russia, has been a cornerstone of Russian aviation for over four decades. Originally intended for the Il-76 transport aircraft, the D-30KP has powered various aircraft, including the Il-78 tanker and the Il-76LL flying testbed.
The engine's development and production marked a significant transformation for the Rybinsk plant, requiring substantial investments in infrastructure and technology. Over the years, the plant has produced over 10,000 D-30KP engines, demonstrating its reliability and durability.
The D-30KP continues to be in demand both domestically and internationally, with thousands of engines in service around the world. UEC-Saturn remains committed to supporting the engine's lifecycle, providing new engines, repairs, and maintenance services. The D-30KP's enduring success is a testament to the expertise and dedication of the engineers and workers involved in its development and production.

Last Q: Fairly easy, the D30 platform is a legacy engine used in plenty of Soviet era aircraft. It's tried and tested and dirt cheap in comparison to its contemporaries - especially in military aviation.
The PS90 platform isn't widely used, with a few Tupolev and Ilyushin aircraft using it - far superceded by Western alternatives. The Russians dug themselves into a hole with their attempts to modernise via technology transfer from P&W - only to be burned with sanctions and an over-reliance on Western engines. The PD platform should aim to solve this, but few customers outside of Russia (Iran and NK maybe?). The Chinese are also focussing on their own domestic engines, with the most advanced being the WS15 and 20 series (the latter being a development of the D30). Comac also creates a new incentive to produce cutting edge domestic engines and leaving out foreign partners where possible

China uses them the Y20, H6k bomber. It is a very reliable engine. I hope they further develop into more powerful and fuel economy.

The PS-90 is a Progress/Soloviev design which Progress was based in Ukraine and the independence of the new ex-Soviet states limited colaboration between the two bureaus, it might be reunited soon as the Saporishia oblast is back to be a Russian Oblast...

    But now a days,
Low Fuel consumption is top priority.
Russian engineers would do it soo{oooooon.❤❤❤❤

Even though PS-90 Engine is Better than Soloviev but to the Contemporary Times the Sale Factors are much different.
The Soloviev is much better in Lifecycle Costs than PS-90 Engine.
The Soloviev is already a Dual Spool Engine but with the much Better Thrust than PS-90 makes it attractive for Aircraft Manufacturers.
The Flow of Thrust Compression in Soloviev is much Better than PS-90 and makes it give the ability to Generate the Dry Thrust with Ease.
