I had the sleeve Gastrectomy and gained weight over the years. Say after 6 and ended up using semaglutide to help me with weight loss. I ended up with gallstones and am wondering if the cause was from the gastrectomy or the semaglutide. What are your thoughts? I would like to continue with the semaglutide but dont know if that is safe. The doctor says it is but was wonder what your thoughts are. Thank you and I hope to hear back from you.

I am unable to comment on individual scenarios. In general, as I explained in the video 1/5 patients develop gallstones after weight loss surgery. Semaglutide is a reasonable option for post weight loss surgery weight gain. It is currently licensed for 2 years. It has so far not been associated with serious side effects, other than nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea/ constipation etc. Good luck!
