Thanks for the recommendation! I hate scraping glue and the 60 grit sandpaper doesn’t seem to be affected by it much. I’d rather replace the paper once in a while than scrape the glue but that is just my preference
@@brucemiller1696 for sure! What would be best is to wipe it off before it dries, I choose the ease of removing it with the drum sander since I have to flatten the board any how
Nice job, Frank. That's one THICK board!!! I love the design; simple, yet elegant; I believe I'll be stealing it for my own board (which is in the prep-the-wood stage right now). Bonus points for the "cuteness factor", involving your kids (loved the "ow" after the high-5).
She'll remember things like this the rest of her life! Good for you for including her in your projects. I wish my son would be willing to do projects with me. Excellent video.
Well done!! it was great to see family helping each other. One day you will be able to look back at these videos and enjoy the greatest moments seeing your family. I liked the sanding portion the most with your setup. How much did you take off on each run during the heavy grit? and on the lite grit?
Thank you so much! It’s a joy to get the little ones involved! I always just go down very incrementally on the sanding, I’m not sure the exact amount I was taking off, you can kind of gauge it by listening to what the machine is doing, if you are taking way too much, the noise will tell you. I want to hear a very gentle sanding and not a bogging.
Gorgeous! What do you do with the vat of mineral oil after you have dunked the board and let it drip? Can you reuse it for the next board? Also where do you buy that much lol thanks!
Thank you so much! Love the drum sander. Sometimes the bed can come out of adjustment if the rollers are set too low. I think I started with 4’ long 8/4 pieces. Don’t hold me to it, that was a while ago
Beautiful board and adorable helper. I just picked up some 8/4 walnut and cherry but could only get 6/4 hard maple today. I have a question about your crosscut sled. I have one very similar, not nearly as nice as yours. I have dovetail slots on both side of the blade also. When I get down to the last crosscuts the piece is so narrow I take it out of the sled and just use the table saw alone. Guess my question is, is it safe to just keep the panel one the sled, line up the piece to the stop block then clamp both sides of the piece, one on each side of the blade to keep your hand away? I did it once and it was fine but did not feel like it was a good idea.
Your helper is adorable! Gotta love the littles! 😊 Cute kiddo's, you're a lucky guy to have such awesome helpers. I remember those days! 😁
Smart to tape your clamps. I learned the hard way that it’s easier to do that than chisel off the glue later.
Most definitely! Thank you kind sir!
Your skills are killer, but involving your daughters was my favorite part! You are subscribed!!!
Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate that! They’re so special to me
One recommendation i would make is scrape your excess glue so it doesnt gum up your sanding belts.

@@FrankDoesIt but it is easier to scrape glue when it is dry after a few hours but not cured over night.

Very nice. Would’ve like a few more glamour shots of your fine work though. Let’s see that money shot. Nice job
Thanks so much! I appreciate it! I’ll throw some more in next time 👊🏼
Whats the name of the tape for the clamps and where do you get it? Thanks. Great Board!
do you have a video or details on the handle jig you have?
Coming very very soon. Stay tuned!
Can I get the measurements of the boards you used? I like the pattern.
Any cons to your drum sander? Looking to get one.

Frank your cutting board is amazing and your video is very informative. What is the size of your cutting board?
Thank you so much! It is 12 x 18 and 2.5” thick

Thank you so much! I don’t want to give safety advice on here as I’m not an expert sorry Chris! Happy building!
She is adorable
Thank you so much!
How many teeth are you using on your table saw blade?
The gold one that I use for ripping is a 40 tooth blade 🤙🏼
