John Carter may have been a flop but it's an excellent adventure movie. People who watched it who are not easily swayed by social media film critics were generally entertained by it. Watch it first before you judge.
As a teenager I read Edgar Rice Burroughs, but I almost missed seeing John Carter because somebody decided to remove ‘of Mars’ from the title! I love this film and I wanted more. I work as a sculptor and often do wargaming figures. I was happy to discover that John Carter was a hit with wargamers. That wargaming Barsoom became a thing. Wargamers read the novels and watch the film to devise tactics and strategies for wargaming Barsoom.
As a side note Strange World was released with almost no backing, no promotions and had no chance to make any money. I had gone to the theatres to see it, but it was already on Disney + a few days before Christmas.
@oobrocks didn't say it was bad. But it is one of the greatest flops ever and cost the studio its existence. I'm just calling the validity of this list into question
I loved the Battleship film I even bought it. In fact I am going to watch it again tonight. I also loved and bought John Carter. I loved The Lone Ranger and the Tom Cruise Mummy Film too.
Not super hero fatigue it’s stop making crap super heroes movies. No one wanted the Marvels. See Deadpool how that due? Ohh yeah it made buckets of money
What do you think the highest grossing film ever was ,adjusting for inflation? The answer is Gone With the Wind. It was released in 1939 and grossed $394 million dollars. Adjusted for inflation that is over 4 Billion today.
Marvel movies are not struggling, there's no fatigue.... it's bad scripts and bad ideas. 1) Bad scripts: Spiderman 3 is an excellent example. Venom deserves his own movie against Spiderman, not some rushed origin story that has nothing to do with the true origin from the comics (I guess a bad idea here too because who in their right mind would have cast Topher Grace as Venom?!! Maybe for a Thinner part 2). 2) Bad idea: When is someone gonna finally admit that superhero comics, games movies and whatever else has a fan base of BOYS THAT GROW UP TO BE MEN?! I have nothing against female superhero movies but it better be out of this world. Look at the names: Superman He-Man Spider-Man Power- Man Bat-Man See the common denominator yet? The idea of an ALL GIRL SUPERHERO MOVIE doesn't interest me at all. Boys don't look up to females as heroes unless it's their mother. THAT is why The Marvels failed. Don't believe me? Look at the box office numbers for the all female lead for Ghostbusters. BOMBED!!

It's one of my "go to" movies, I would put it in my top 15 movies.
I liked it
John Carter was a great movie and I like Battleship as well.

You start to wonder if they're in the business of losing money.
more like money laundring!

Where is the Fall of the Roman Empire in this list???
I love it ❤

5 and 4 are great movies.
Most of John Carpenter's and Walter Hill's movies flopped at the box office but they are cult classics now
I recommend John Carter; not a great film but very good. 🎉

It’s NOT Superhero Fatigue!! It’s BAD WRITING !!
I like Battleship.
Heaven's Gate?
It's not that bad . Watch the documentary Z Channel
I don't think John Carter....was so bad to earn this distinction.
Did anyone REALLY expect anything from "Battleship"?
Under a different name,maybe.
I don’t understand the need for adjusting for inflation but what the heck.

😂 Do you understand adjusting your paycheck for inflation?
With the exception of Joker 2 [a seriously underrated movie] all completely forgettable.

Two words - Wonder Woman.
@mattbosley3531 Wonder Woman was good but the only reason I didn't give her props was because Wonder Woman 1984 crushed her future franchise.
Only Disney makes animated movies worth watching! The rest are trash!
Studio Ghibli? Pixar? ( before Disney took over… 😢 )
And many, many others… ❤
But start with those two 😊
13th warrior was a great movie
