Carving Deadwood on a Field Maple bonsai

In July 2018 I had the pleasure of carving a huge, 1 metre tall Field Maple bonsai (Acer campestre) belonging to my apprentice Sean Stolp who collected the tree 3 years previously.

So it is possible to create deadwood on maples. Someone once told me “you cant because it wont last, it will rot”. Havent tried it myself. Thanks for the inspiration though
