    In an interview, Forge said this song is about people who are willing to destroy everything they claim to stand for in exchange for power. The "YES" after each question in the chorus can be heard as an aggressive affirmation of desire without hesitation.

      Specifically he said it is about people like Mike Pence who are pretending to be Christians and Righteous and all the while they support people like Donald Trump sacrificing their every ideal in their pursuit of power. I'd bet good money that this what the "You and the greatest deceiver"-line refers to. "The greatest Deceiver" is a good way of phrasing what Trump is to his followers if you ask me.

    I love to hear Tobias’ sarcasm. When he says “you shine like the sun and the moon and the stars in the sky”… You can hear it clearly and it’s funny. For those who don’t know Pence called his wife mother.

    I've come to the conclusion that Tobias borrows from recognizable riffs deliberately, as like a way to bring you in to his world by offering you something comfortable and recognizable...Almost every song of their's reminds me of a popular song before completely becoming it's own, and I think it's cool. He is very calculating in his vision, whatever that is.

    I particularly like the bass on this one, being a bass player one, but two they really changed the character of the bass tone to an almost Geddy Lee crunch, the fact they are open changes to instruments WITHIN the band like that, to express the album, and not the bands "sound" as a whole, shows the genius of Forge. Many songs like this would be of the Era that Rush even used the same mid focused grind, just as other albums have a low fuzz to them. Most musicians pick a sound and try to stick with it, calling it their definition and calling card, to set that aside and change it up for the theme of the current album is so rad. Mixing songs in a live set though could get interesting, I know many of their other tracks are drop D, this album is mostly standard, again theme.

    • @2yoyoyo1Unplugged
      @2yoyoyo1Unplugged 2 роки тому

      Actually, almost every Ghost song is D standard, except a couple on Prequelle and Impera are in drop C. Not a single Ghost song is in standard or drop D

      @@2yoyoyo1Unplugged yeah I noticed that the other day when looking up how people where transposing the new album, right when it came out I started playing along, albeit in an octave higher, so it worked.. I love your view in terms of the production, where it sounds more live. I've noticed that the arguably largest bands on the planet these days (Ghost, Gojira, Metallica) have almost taken that approach with their production because they are first and foremost meant to be experienced live.

    Producers these days love their compression then throw the HORRIBLE UA-cam Compression on top of that. Reverb was big in the 80s but what dates it more so to the 80s is CHORUS PEDALS on EVERY SONG! I didn't mind the "loud wars" because Guitars modulate so BEAUTIFULLY the louder they get (ala the Fletcher-Munson Effect)!
    The end of Led Zeppelin's THANK YOU is almost as loud as the song itself.
    PS - I think you're talking about the "Gated Reverb" on the snare that Phil Collins IN THE AIR TONIGHT cursed the 80s with!

      Neither did we of course. But doing it in this way has sharpened my listening skills believe it or not and helped me articulate why I like something as opposed to just liking it without understanding why. Honestly, if we listen to the entire song all the way through with no pauses, I forget points to make and the video would be quite boring.

    Here’s what Tobias said about this song
    That song’s about Mike Pence and anyone like him who’s willing to soil everything they’ve worked for. They definitely qualify for a front-row ticket to Hell. Which is so ironic, because that’s what they believe in. [People like that] completely demean themselves, and just eat shit out of someone’s ass in order to achieve whatever they’re trying to achieve.
    Again, he stands as a symbol for people of all times, where the end game is wrapped with some sort of religious [thing]. He’s known as this sort of Bible thumper, believing that he has strong faith, and he’s just this awful, awful person in any way. He tries to tell the world that he serves God, that he’s part of the good side. Whereas at the end of the day, the only thing he wants is power. But it doesn’t have to necessarily be all about him. It’s about people like him: a lot of politicians, lot of preachers, a lot of clergymen throughout the history of time
