such a great tip. The one thing that has changed my life more than anything is audiobooks. My house has never been more put together because I will literally go searching for things to clean just so I can listen to my audiobook longer. I can't concentrate on audiobooks unless im doing something with my hands, or busying myself.... but I cant concentrate on cleaning unless i have an audiobook to hold my attention... its the perfect combination, because BOTH tasks keep me focused on the other. its literal magic, and I will clean for HOURS doing this.... which I NEVER could do before, it was SO hard more me.

That's so awesome. I have always struggled listening to audiobooks. I do so much better with books because I can stop to let my mind wander. but getting myself to read is a whole other issue. I've never thought of listening to them when doing chores. That being said, I do listen to podcasts quite a bit when I'm decorating.

I have actually found that listening to dubstep, rock or electro music can get me in the mood when completing task. Course I will mix it up with folk music or other genres depending on how I am feeling at that time, but I do agree music does have an impact on the ADHD brain. Appreciate all the tips!

Perhaps on an unrelated note to this video, I want to say thank you for the book you wrote. I feel a lot of empathy. It is helping me to understand myself better and know that my own experiences are relatable. That serenity can be found in nature and in dark wardrobes, maybe even with other people. I have not finished reading it... : ) Good luck.

I relate to much of what you said, music does help with the boredom issue, but I still need to set goals and do them. Often times simply starting is the biggest hurdle, so I would make a deal with myself to do a little part first, followed by a reward or break. After having accomplished something I feel good and it's much easier to continue. All that being said, if dopamine is like fuel, our bodies can't do anything running on empty. For that medication, exercise and sometimes naps can help. Also, long live heavy metal! 🤘

Agreed, and not only that, but I feel like the same thing can apply to running, like the runner's high for me is in combination with music that moves me, and I don't know how people workout without being music being a lot of the drive.

I totally agree with you. When I was a teen walking to school I needed to listen to music, when I used to go to the gym I needed music. Now I can't exercise because I get heart palpitations for days afterwards and feel terrible (seeing a cardio soon). Listening to music gives me a high most of the time.

@@FindingYourSerenity I actually have something I might describe as heart palpitations after working out too, but it seems different when I've fallen off my health wagon for a while, so I have taken it as a sign that I still have work to do, and even though I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, it's like I can't be at peace with anything my heart does until I'm largely in shape and back in my healthy patterns with working out.
