  • In this video, I show you how to remove the Tacoma's Truck Bed with no help and all by yourself! I'll also show you some of the tips and tricks with unseizing bolts rusted parts. You will need a specialty tools as that is the minimum requirement when it comes to lifting the truck bed past the fuel filler neck. Yes, it will cost money and space for specialty tools BUT it will get you to a state of being self sufficient when it comes to maintenance and more in depth repair for your vehicles. If you don't have an engine hoist, you can get 3 of your friends to help you lift up each corner of the truck bed - it only weighs a little over 200 pounds.

Thanks for watching and supporting the channel! The bed was removed for mechanical design purposes. This is part of a few design projects: a shackle flip and a custom bed (the second one still being worked). Here's the detailed design video: ua-cam.com/video/R3_nOvmPIWc/v-deo.html

Are all 6 bolts the same? I've been removing bolts and replacing them with new ones. I have 6 bolts on my bed but the Toyota schematics only show 4.

Get some muriatic pool acid and do a 4 parts water 1 part acid and soak the really rusted hardware in the solution. If no strong enough do a 50/50 solution

Did you run into any melting issues with the composite bed when torching those bolts? I need to do the same to my taco and of course there are 1 or 2 that are seized.

I torched the nut portion which was on the metal frame side - so no issues from my end. I would recommend doing this job in the warmer months though
