very very helpful for me as I had no clue how to take care of my Bermuda grass. Boy after six years of lawn service it looks so bad that I decided to take things into my own hands. Ill try to keep ya'll updated Thank you so much Doc.
I've finally found someone as much a lawn fanatic as I am! Can't wait to fertilize, mow, areate, trip every winter leading up into the spring. My problem is I have 4 acres of grass and no irrigation system, so I'm at the mercy of rain on Sandy soil. I do try to keep area in backyard and close around house nicer. The rest of it just goes with the weather trend. Happy mowing
Super excellent and informative video. I thought I was one of the few “perfectionist” “OCD” who constantly manicured his Bermuda grass - ha! Nice to know there are others who also really care about pride if ownership. I learned quite a bit from your video. Thank you.
I need to tweak that calendar for SE Texas because we are warm into early November. It is 11/12/2021 & we have highs in the upper 70s low 80s till next week. In Feb we get warm days, but for us our Spring calendar starts that 1st week in March. -- Thanks for this video, very helpful.
I can not tell you how much this helps me!!! I own dog kennels. My step dad owns a landscaping company & installed Bermuda sod for us late fall. But I have NO idea how to take care of grass and I needed these tips so I can keep the grass nice for the dogs!! Your lawn looks great
I just bought a new house in N. Georgia with Bermuda sod in the front lawn. Had terrible amounts of crabgrass and other weeds. Using your tips I’ve gotten rid of almost all the weeds! Bermuda’s looking real nice now. I still have to figure out how to seed the back since it has contractors rye grass. I’m gonna check out a local nursery for some good Bermuda seed.
New homeowner, our restate agent told us to fertilize our lawn. I am so glad your video came up as a recommendation. I know I will be hooked watching many of your video's. Thank you for this very educational tutorial!!! ~*Shana and family.
“Pre emergent is God’s gift to Bermuda Grass” If you only listen to one thing in this video then this should be it. Ask me how I know that skipping pre emergent is a really bad idea! Great video and very informative
I’m a subscriber now after watching 2 of your videos. I currently have the worlds worst Bermuda lawn :/ but with your help, I’m confident that I can bring it back to life!!! Thank you!!
we live in South West Texas and just had a brand new Bermuda Lawn put in (14 Palettes). We don’t have a sprinkler system, we are hand watering it at this time, spinkler system might come next year. OK..after the sod was put in, it was really, really LUMPY..it makes it tough to fertilize as well as to mow. I plan on renting a Water Wheel from Home Depot next year before the grass starts to grow, and I’ll wet the lawn and run the heavy Water Wheel over the entier area to try and level it out. Our Landscaper told us that we shouldn’t dethatch the lawn here in Texas due to the poor soil and high heat..so we won’t do that unless he tells us to do it. We have a lot of different kinds of weeds or grass types that shouldn’t be in the lawn and we don’t know what they are called or how to treat them. We WILL go and buy some Pre emergent tomorrow at Home Depot and start treating it right away, we LOVE your videos and its so darn full of great information!...
With my bermuda, I have scalped it (I live in Las Vegas), with the pre emergent, do I get a certain brand? Do I oversees it? I have a ton of clover and crab grass clusters...I was just going to put nitrogen on it. After listening to you, I am not sure what to do? I do have sprinklers here, and our weather is now turning into 75+ degrees, only to get hotter. Not sure what to put on first and if I can put the pre emergent and then the nitrogen on? Appreciate your help. I learned so much from you!! Fantastic video!!
Also, with our heat, keeping the grass at this low height, can be some times not a good idea, it tends to not be as green as much as keeping it at about an inch and half. Maybe I need to have something else put on it, during these hot temps of 115+
Got my Bermuda lawn set up this summer with a truckload of soil and 10 pounds of Arden-15 seed. It looks great, but haven’t really done any treatments besides some fert a couple of times. When it comes to pre-emergent, can I put that down in early/middle Feb using granular? And then will that be ok if I scalp a month later? Also, I do not have a motorized reel mower yet, so I was planning to scalp with the lowest setting on my manual reel mower, will that work?
Does pre-emergent specifically target certain seeds or will it prevent even grass seed from sprouting? If so, what’s the best way to take care of those bare spots/over seed and wanting to rid the lawn of those unwanted weeds?
My wife and I just purchased our first ever house, and I am excited to finally have a lawn. The builder put down sod in the front and sides (I believe it was Tifway 419). We closed around Christmas and they laid the sod while hit was already dormant. They also put it on red clay with no topsoil underneath. It hasn't taken root yet, and you can still see the sod lines, but trying to get a head start so it will start growing rapidly once it heats up. I also think you said in a previous video not to put any pre emergent on new sod, but I am getting some crab grass growing through in a few spots that I don't want to get out of hand. Lastly, I can't really afford 4 pallets of sod for the back yard, and they put down fescue, but was thinking of overseeing that with Princess 77 seed, since that seems to be the only hybrid bermuda seed I can find that would work where we live (Charlotte area).
I’m nNew to this and following your calendar. When is the best type of Bermuda seed and when should I overseed? Right now, I'm focusing on weed control.
My lawn is full of Weeds. I'm just now getting started on working on my lawn. Is it okay to do weed killer now since I missed January/February per your calendar?
Doc, I appreciate all of the Great videos. Question for you. What pre-emergent are you using on your Bermuda grass? Can I use the same pre-emergent on Zoysia? Thank you.!!
Hello. I am having a home built in central Oklahoma and it will be done sometime around the first part of July. It will be sodded with Bermuda. I have never owned a home before and I really want a nice lawn, it is a must!! I like your calendar however with sod going down in July in OK it will be hot. Any suggestions on new sod being laid in the middle of the year? Can I put pre-emergent down on freshly laid sod to help it grow/root in addition to watering? Thanks for your input!
I just brought a house in SC that has a yard full of weeds with centipede grass... how easy would it be to turn my lawn over to a bremuda grass lawn and would the bremuda grass actually over take the centipede grass that already exists in the yard. thanks again and love the videos
i live in southern AZ and our winter highs are in the 60's so does this change my calendar? I would like to start over with my lawn. Is it too late or too soon. please help
Just bought a new home here in Texas 8a. My new Bermuda sod is just showing signs of green. I need to top dress to level lawn. When would you recommend this step. Thanks for the great informational videos!
Awesome, and informative, video! Living in AL I have about the same climate but had a question. When spraying, the 30-0-0, prior to using the granular, 20-5-10, do you just use a hand-held sprayer? Im assuming process kills two birds with one stone by not having to wait for rain to dissolve the granular and also give is an extra boost being a liquid fertilizer. I guess I’m thinking that MAYBE isn’t always needed, or could burn the grass, unless you do it distribute and use it properly, if that’s safe to say?
All this is good info but I need to find out the proper way to start a Bermuda lawn. Such as soil prep, when to seed and when and what fertilizer to use.
Great information. Do you think it's too late to do any seeding at this point or should I just focus on negative trying to get rid of crab grass? I'm in Georgia too so it's still relatively warm
Hi , Great calendar for Bermuda and advice ! What pre-emergent you suggest to put during this month of September in Georgia for Bermuda ? My lawn has lot of Spurge and Chamberbritter and its poorly controlled by lawn care company so want to get some advice to better control it next year . Thanks again
Hi Doc...stumbled across this video and it was very insightful. Thank You! I'm a new homeowner living in the Los Angeles area. Would you still recommend following your monthly schedule plans for taking care of Bermuda grass in my area? Also, due to the high heat temperatures that we experienced this summer, some areas of my lawn have browned out as if the grass has gone dormant. I thought maybe the lawn needed more water and increased the time for the sprinklers which made a little bite of a difference. Any suggestions on how to fix this as we are heading into September?
Hey Doc, 1st of August and I have another type of grass trying to take over. Do you recommend cutting that portion low and overseeding or what until dormant season? Is it possible to send a picture of my yard?
Doc if I purchased a home and I’m almost guessing they put hay down because the lawn is green and thick hardly no bare spots but it’s all weed. What do I need to do? I m trying to get a Bermuda lawn!!!!
No wonder the old Boomer was yelling at us kids on his lawn back in the day. Seems like a big time commitment. More power to you Sir, I'll be in the garage turning a wrench. 😁
Glad I stumbled across your videos and subscribed, good stuff! Maybe I overlooked it, but do you have this calendar in a PDF or Word 'Doc' (pun intended) form to download/print from your website? I'd love to print these instructions and the products you use posted in my house somewhere readily available as a daily/monthly reminder. Thank you!
Good morning Doc can you tell me how much water do I need to water my grass with a manual watering system you know the kind that you have to attach to the water holes and a drag from one corner to the next
God bless you for sharing the wealth!!! I bought my first home in December and have “green goals” for my lawn. I needed this diy guidance. What do you say to Lime applications in Sept??? I’m in central Alabama.
Doc....Just watched your calendar video and it was awesome. I live in Charlotte where we have a clay soil, as do you in Atlanta. We have a community yard service, and we have terrible looking yards. Granted, we have only been here for a year and a half, so it's a small sample to use. I believe that they don't know how to care for bermuda grass, and it is driving me crazy, for I am a lawn nerd. First of all, do you use a reel mower or a standard lawn mower with a bag attachment. Also, do you have a list of fertilizers that you use for your yard, and are they granular as well as liquid form. When you overseed, what kind of seed do you use. I appreciate the time that you take to share this information, and I look forward to seeing more of your video
I’m in north Georgia. My lawn faces West and each spring, I get ground bees in my Bermuda. What is you advice on controlling and also what action to take not to hurt grass while promoting growth during per the calendar.
New lawn guy here. I had nohting but dirt to start with. I put Rye grass seed down in October. Lawn looks amazing. How do I prep and plan for Bermuda though? Is it as simple as drying out the Rye, scalping, and planting Bermuda grass seed? Or is ther bermuda already underneath my Rye grass that I don't know about? Any insight helps! Thanks!
New subscriber & so happy I found your channel. I am in zone 8A & I planted fruit trees in my back yard. Can you recommend alternative organic ways to treat the grass in that area? I want to keep the chemicals away from the fruit trees to keep the fruit as organic as possible. Thxs.
New lawn 1acre, region 2. Louisiana. Doing 80/20 rye/bermuda. Looking at being ready early October. Wish it was earlier... Any bermuda tips specific for new yard?
Hi your video is so great. I just have a question. We moved into our house January 2019. The new Bermuda sod had been planted the previous September. I just recently had a guy put a gentle weed killer on the lawn and it seem to work. Before then I had done no fertilization because everyone kept saying it could kill the grass. So it is July and I do have some diseased spots and a few other issues. Do you have any suggestions? We live in Alabama.
Someone please explain the see ratio numbers and what they mean. Thank you. I'm new to this and trying learn so I can follow this schedule for next year
Your lawn s amazing I so wish to have one like yours Iam new to gardening so i font understand when you give the ratios and exactly what 3 products are they for? Thanks
I have a question for u. I live in Tennessee and just put down new Bermuda sod in my back yard 7 days ago. It has rained a lot and was told by the sod guy that was good. What is the next step to ensure I start off on the right foot? Thanks
Great info. I was just getting ready to overseed my Bermuda grass before seeing your video. Question. Our house is fairly new. Build in Mid Oct. I have been pulling weeds and getting rid of them with weed killer and stand up puller. How do I address the patchy spots? I'm guess I should skip weed and feed pre-emergent at this point since weeds have already sprouted?
Brandon Lee check out a product called Tenacity. It’s both a pre and post emergent. This time of year is the wrong time of year to put any weed Killer down.
I have just scalped my grass, would you recommend putting fertilizer down first or pre-emergent then fertilizer? I have never used pre-emergent before and didn't know if it would impact the fertilizer. Thanks!
Hi Doc please help! I recently moved on some land that has LOTS of dead grass choking the Bermuda. I've hoed and raked one side of the lawn so I can put seeds and soil out. When should I put the pre-emergent..in the bare soil or wait for green grass to grow? #newhomeowner
I have a new house with a new Bermuda lawn it was installed in November 2020 and this will be the first summer. I’ve noticed some weed coming up and the lawn is still brown. Can I do a pre emergent to kill the weeds? If so what do you recommend or do i need to spot treat it, there is a lot. Thanks
Doc, can you advise on best ways to deal with volunteer centipede or St Augustine grass invading my Tifway 419 lawn without killing the good lawn? I am in southeast NC. Thanks...
Hi Doc, thank you for your videos much appreciated. My question is what is the difference between scalping and dethatching I'm confused isn't it the same thing??
Thanks for the great bermuda tips. I live in Georgia too and my front yard is bermuda and doesn't look good. It is thin in spots and I think I need to put some bermuda grass seed to help thicken it up. You didn't mention overseeding in this video. Any advice?? Thanks!
Thanks for the video. i just started growing my yard last year and I had it all wrong although it looks nice. I will be using this as my guide from now on
Hey doc, I just bought a house that’s on very sandy soil in NC. There a mix of a few different grasses with the bulk being Bermuda. The yard is mostly bare and full of weeds. Without any knowledge of what to do, I threw out Bermuda seed the last week of June. I’ve been watering the heck out of it and some of the existing grass is greening up and growing. I really need to mow but I’m scared to hurt what I’ve done with the seed. Can I mow? What can I do to improve my lawn and get rid of the weeds and what kind of timeline do I need to follow. I’m trying to learn what I can from your videos but it’s a ton of info at once. My previous house was on different soil and anything would grow well so I basically just had to do weed control and fertilize here and there. Thanks in advance. If you can point me in the direction of which of your products I need, I’ll gladly use them.
I have a question about when to aerate and over seed Bermuda. Everything I read says don't aerate in early Spring, but wait instead until June. However, I am also seeing that over seeding should be done in early Spring, and over seeding and aeration should be done at the same time. My Bermuda lawn is really thinned out and compacted. When should I aerate and over seed?
Hey Doc, If i just got Bermuda Sod put down on a New Construction and it looks like it is just starting to root, should i still be putting down a pre-emergent? Or do i need to wait for it to fully root? Hope that make sense. Im new to lawn care.
This is one of the easiest guides to follow...... I go back to this video monthly to see what I should be doing thank you!
I need a giant poster of everything in this video to stick on the wall in my garage
very very helpful for me as I had no clue how to take care of my Bermuda grass. Boy after six years of lawn service it looks so bad that I decided to take things into my own hands. Ill try to keep ya'll updated Thank you so much Doc.
I've watched a lot of videos on Bermuda grass and this is the best one. It all makes sense now.
Glad I found these videos. Texas here, I am taking notes! Thank you doc.
I've just purchased my first home, this is exactly what I needed to keep me on track to have a beautiful lawn. Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Thank you.

Great info doc, i live in the metro Atlanta so your calender is spot on for this part of the country, keep up the good job.
New homeowner, our restate agent told us to fertilize our lawn. I am so glad your video came up as a recommendation. I know I will be hooked watching many of your video's. Thank you for this very educational tutorial!!! ~*Shana and family.
Thank you so much for this video. I am starting the first fall of a restored Bermuda grass yard and can't wait to get past the scalping.
this guy knows what he's talking about
“Pre emergent is God’s gift to Bermuda Grass” If you only listen to one thing in this video then this should be it. Ask me how I know that skipping pre emergent is a really bad idea! Great video and very informative
What brand of pre-emergent do you use & where did you buy it from?
We reel mow a few Bermuda lawns and we also spray growth regulators once a month from May to August. I totally agree on your calendar of events.
I’m a subscriber now after watching 2 of your videos. I currently have the worlds worst Bermuda lawn :/ but with your help, I’m confident that I can bring it back to life!!! Thank you!!

How would you prevent bermuda from growing up into a raised bed? I love it in the lawn, but it is aggressively trying to grow into my beds.
Do you recommend Weed Stop as a pre emergent or Sunniland 20-0-6 weed and feed ?
You are my new favorite person THANK YOU ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🍃🍃🍃🍃
We live in midland Texas. Can we still follow your Bermuda calendar?
With my bermuda, I have scalped it (I live in Las Vegas), with the pre emergent, do I get a certain brand? Do I oversees it? I have a ton of clover and crab grass clusters...I was just going to put nitrogen on it. After listening to you, I am not sure what to do? It prevents new cell growth, not germination. So all forms of plants and seeds.
Hi Doc, I'm from Australia and was wondering whether I can just flip this calendar by six months to reflect our seasons for couch (bermuda)?
My wife and I just purchased our first ever house, and I am excited to finally have a lawn. The builder put down sod in the front and sides (I believe it was Tifway 419). What brand of pre-emergent should I use on my Bermuda grass
I live in Arizona where's it's already been 100 degrees, is it too late to apply fertilizers? I've never had a lawn before
I’m nNew to this and following your calendar. When is the best type of Bermuda seed and when should I overseed? Right now, I'm focusing on weed control.
Thanks for the video.. can u also tell me when to bag the clippings and when not?
My lawn is full of Weeds. I'm just now getting started on working on my lawn. Is it okay to do weed killer now since I missed January/February per your calendar?
Dang I wish I had a house with a lawn like that NICE
Thank u for the video . I have two questions. How to overseed / reseed lawn? And how about burning the lawn to get rid of thatch?
What pre emergent do you recommend for a Texas lawn?
With brand new sod on our new construction, can we still scalp the lawn or is there another approach until the sod is more settled?
Be gentle... just cut down low once it REALLY starts to green up. Next year scalp.
What treatment did you use for you fence? I really like it! 11:49
Do you recommend rolling your lawn.. what about reseeding
Excellent and Easy! Wish we could get a printed calendar with these tips on it!
Great video. I want to seed my lawn with hulled hybrid bermuda. Is this a good time? I'm in Southern California.
March and April what kind of fertilizer do you use and what is the ratio to use
I just brought a house in SC that has a yard full of weeds with centipede grass... how easy would it be to turn my lawn over to a bremuda grass lawn and would the bremuda grass actually over take the centipede grass that already exists in the yard. thanks again and love the videos
Bermuda WILL overtake centipede. Just a matter of time. Centipede requires more water (more often), less nutrients, and a more acidic soil
i live in southern AZ and our winter highs are in the 60's so does this change my calendar? I would like to start over with my lawn. Is it too late or too soon. please help
Just bought a new home here in Texas 8a. My new Bermuda sod is just showing signs of green. I need to top dress to level lawn. When would you recommend this step. Thanks for the great informational videos!

Hey Doc,
1st of August and I have another type of grass trying to take over. Do you recommend cutting that portion low and overseeding or what until dormant season? Is it possible to send a picture of my yard?
What do you do with Bermuda that has just been installed in your property do you still follow the guidelines? You suggest on your calendar
Doc, do you have (or know of) a similar calendar for St Augustine ? Thanks
Also I just got my super juice is it OK to put it down in February
I would wait until temps hit the 70s min. It acts more like a biostimulant and needs microbes.
Thank you!
When it's ready... next month, we'll have it.
I was looking on the website for a printable too. Will love to see it!
Im in California. Seed winter grass ,is on bermuda .we are mid 80 degrees.wen is good time to lower down or scalp?
Doc....Just watched your calendar video and it was awesome. I live in Charlotte where we have a clay soil, as do you in Atlanta. We have a community yard service, and we have terrible looking yards. Pre emergent goes on after all weeds are pretty much gone or regardless....?
I’m in north Georgia. My lawn faces West and each spring, I get ground bees in my Bermuda. What is you advice on controlling and also what action to take not to hurt grass while promoting growth during per the calendar.
Should I water during the winter months?
Where’d the doc nickname come from?
do you have the list for the products that we should use during the calendar?
New lawn guy here. I had nohting but dirt to start with. I put Rye grass seed down in October. Lawn looks amazing. How do I prep and plan for Bermuda though?
As a hairdresser when you started referring to Bermuda and cutting it as you would the hair on your head that is when I got it lol
Someone please explain the see ratio numbers and what they mean. Thank you. I'm new to this and trying learn so I can follow this schedule for next year

Maybe a dumb question but does your super juice pretty much cover all the fertilizer needs year round other than pre emerg?
Your lawn s amazing
I so wish to have one like yours
Iam new to gardening so i font understand when you give the ratios and exactly what 3 products are they for?
Thanks
What about St Augustine grass months because I live in Texas
I have a question for u. I live in Tennessee and just put down new Bermuda sod in my back yard 7 days ago. It has rained a lot and was told by the sod guy that was good. What is the next step to ensure I start off on the right foot? Thanks
www.bermudalawnguide.com/ New sod info there
Doc it is late March in Atlanta and I missed the pre emergent. I now have lots of weeds. What do I do?
Put down PE now and treat weeds with Bermuda safe spray.
Can you scalp with a rotary?
I have just scalped my grass, would you recommend putting fertilizer down first or pre-emergent then fertilizer? I have never used pre-emergent before and didn't know if it would impact the fertilizer. Thanks!
Are you in Georgia
Hi Doc please help! I recently moved on some land that has LOTS of dead grass choking the Bermuda. I've hoed and raked one side of the lawn so I can put seeds and soil out. When should I put the pre-emergent..in the bare soil or wait for green grass to grow?

Is there a pdf or other format of this calendar? I would love to have this information saved as a file.
Thanks
What the difference between dethatch and scalping?
I have just moved in and there's no grass at all in southern Ga. can I start planting bermuda in late March?
Doc, can you advise on best ways to deal with volunteer centipede or St Augustine grass invading my Tifway 419 lawn without killing the good lawn? I am in southeast NC. Thanks...
I love this video I learn a lot. I have been watching your other videos too and thanks for all the information that you giving us.
Can I just cut the brown very short?
Hi Doc, thank you for your videos much appreciated. My question is what is the difference between scalping and dethatching I'm confused isn't it the same thing??
scalping means cutting it short. detaching removes the dead grass sitting on the soil that is built up from mowing, leaves, and other garbage.
Any natural pre emergent herbicide other than Dicamba or glyphosate weed killers?

No PE for one full year on new sod.
I have Bermuda grass and it’s infested with weeds. I mean it’s a lot of weeds. What would you recommend to treat the weeds now?
Love this! So comfortably informative. Webby Award Worthy!
