Glad I found you! Got a pink one that failed. Then into the rabbit hole...
How's the universal compressor holding up? And have you discovered anyway to identify mainboard re: ability to accept upgrade?

Hi InFix Appliances Repair Richmond TX,
I have watched your video, and thanks for the info I have a failed 2919 LD with FLB075LANA compressor and found out that I need a replacement with FLS075LANA compressor. I can get one, but I don't have the programmer. Do you know if that software upgrade is really necessary for the change of FLB075LANA to a FLS075LANA I assume based on the code number that these compressors are neatly the same. Any idea or suggestion?

Yes. The update is needed. They may have changed the internals back to rotary.

I need to replace the main board of my lg refrigerator. I have a new universal compressor. Does new board come with updated software? Or do I need to update?

I am just a homeowner that had not too long ago bought an LG. I would later found out mainly on UA-cam LG's linear compressor fiasco. When I was making the purchase decision, I was specifically hoping the one I planned to buy has a linear compressor. However I was disappointed that the spec said variable speed rather than what they used to tout variable speed linear. From my inference that means they switched back to conventional variable speed rotary motor but too embarrassed to admit the linear motor disaster so they just obscured it. What this video sorely lacking is if the new universal replacement is rotary. I can see the purple label of the old said linear. I would bet a dollar to a donut it is now rotary, but I don't expect LG to advertise it. You have to cut one open to confirm it.

With the pink one yes you can instal the universal service compressor and update the board with the jig, LG french door a is good fridge with a not durable week compressor, supposedly better with this new S comp. will see after 8 years.

That's a great callout. LG should have to reimburse everybody that bought one the labor to fix since these aren't one offs. It's a massive, massive failure of a manufacturer. If it was the car industry, it would all be recalled and covered. At least offer $50% off tye labor.

@@TheFrenchPug Yep but consider that it is not a car with the road dangers for a recall, but they messed it with this new designed eco compressor, and they, like no others, extended their seal system warranty to 5 years, and 10 for the compressor part, others are only one year in general.

@bensappliancesandjunk did a video called "Can LG Make a Reliable Refrigerator?". He said that the top freezer and side by sides generally DO NOT have the linear compressor. LG mostly reserved the linear compressor for it's french door models. Aside from looking at the compressor part number on the unit itself, if the fridge has a 5 year compressor warranty then it doesn't have a linear compressor. Linear compressor models have a 10 year warranty.

LG had to address this in a hurry. Word of mouth was killing their sales world wide. Not so sure about the computer software patch. 😮

Good stuff Papa. Another UA-camr also recommended the Universal model you show in this video. As well as an update or Board Replacement.
Is there a way to tell you are really getting the new updated version besides the stickers on the new compressor? I am afraid that some shady company might try and give me an older compresor and just change the stickers on it because they have a bunch in stock they need to get rid off. Is there something on the body of the compressor that makes it different from the other Six bad LG Compressors?
Thanks for sharing Bro. Saludos From NYC :o)

The universal part number is FLS075LANA and not that number on the box. You can see it under the red sticker in your video.

I just had had sears home service put in my new universal compressor. Soon after he left it started making a loud high pitched buzzing sound whenever the compressor comes on. What could be causing this noise? It is coming from the back bottom part of my kenmore elite fridge. The fridge is cooling good now that the compressor replaced, just the bothersome loud buzz.

Pull the frig out from the wall. Take off the condensing area cover. With the compressor running, see if a copper tube is touching something and making the noise when running.
