So it can stick the rod better. Especially working on samsung they put some type of coating on copper lines if you try to solder without sanding it it wont stick properly it will just be a huge mess
everything looked great until you were brazing without a trace of nitrogen. Also pressurize 1 line with nitro and cover other fitting with finger.Let it build a little pressure then let off a couple of times if there was any flux left inside it would come out. Just my 2cents.
Hi Mel. Could you please share all the equipment needed for this job. I just got my EPA 1, certificate. I am just staring to set up, but not sure if I need to go high dollar on the equipment or I can just get something mid range for now.
Whar did you do with the electrical on this compressor? Did you purchase the Jig for the upgrade or install a relay to get a standard compressor to operate? Thank you
I checked into getting a Jig and the price is quite expensive in Canada. Is there another way around doing the software upgrade? You would think LG would give you the update with the new compressor. Thank you.
I also have an LG refrigerator and I know that I have to change the compressor but the challenge I am having is that I can't find a rating on the compressor to know which one exactly I am to buy.I will really appreciate you help in this area, how can I know the correct compressor that I have to buy .Furthermore,is it compulsory to buy a linear compressor if the one that came with the refrigerator gets bad and needs to be changed.
Any appliance website search the model and serial number and it gives you the part. If you trying to use a different kind well. Not sure once in my life I have seen a LG refrigerator running with a embraco compressor. Till this day still running
Is this an invertor compressor..ahh I see it is... I've seen way too many inverter compressors go bad versus a standard compressor, I want to pull my inverter compressor out, install a standard compressor. any idea how to make it run from a signal from the inverter may be pulling in a relay
Well the one from the manufacturer are defective, Right. So the universal quote on quote improved compressor are the ones now taking care of the problem. I seen once someone put a different kind of compressor till this day working. they just splice the wires to relay to make it work
When people say that they either dont want to work on them or they dont know . Sometimes we go behind other companies and they even tell customers we dont work on them becasue ect...
Second part is there in my channel. And yes replace condenser any contamination stays stuck there. Through out time it will play a factor on the cooling system
Someone put a temporary tap on the service line, that is not ideal but if you need to recover refrigerant i guess thats a way to do it. Don't put too much heat into those joints.
A very helpful tip to extend the life of the compressor is to add 50ml of sulphuric acid to the compressor before regassing. This helps keep the system clean.
@@magaan4717 cool your jets buddy. I work in the HVAC industry and mainly work with refrigeration. Having acid in refrigeration systems is very bad for the system, so someone talking about a "helpful tip" by adding the one substance to a system that kills systems faster than age is gonna set off some alarm bells. Hence why I was wondering if he was serious or not because I've never heard of such a thing.
And braze with nitro. Keeps that cap tube from clogging and always back blow it to e cap tube because that’s 80% of the time is the cause of the compressor failing is cap tube clogging
Thanks for doing this video outside in daylight makes a huge difference and the angle of the camera is pristine 🎉
I’m just learning how to solder/braze. I’m wondering why you have to clean the outside of tube if the solder will be inside
So it can stick the rod better. Especially working on samsung they put some type of coating on copper lines if you try to solder without sanding it it wont stick properly it will just be a huge mess
Retired from LG 5 years ago, did 3 systems jobs in the morning with Evaps and 2 in the afternoon, I had so many compressors at !y home it was crazy
And it wont stop the piece of junk compressors! People will never learn that they no good. Job security for us techs but for the customers no good
Great video thank you. Now do I need to bleed the Freon and add new Freon?
Evacuate the system (vaccum down), and then you add how many ounces it needs.
great video, what is the brazing rods you used here, thank you
Copper to copper 15%
What is the brand and type for the flux coated brazing rod you're using?
Probably silver solder
Great video, here. What brazing rod are you using for brazing copper to metal. The one that is already coated with the flux.
It was 56% silver with flux
What's the specific name?
@@BrendaMwewa-dm4ss😂yo mom
It looks from the weld on compressor outer center, is not that good made compressor.
Do u think its refurbished?
Thnx🌷
It's good
Wonderful video but you never explained what type of torch you use ( is it a goss torch )and what gas it runs off of argon acetylene or propane?
I use oxygen with acetylene
I was going to use my propane torch from my charcoal starter torch. 😂thanks I didn’t make that mistake yet. Im and airplane mechanic
please send link of Torch need to buy it is very small and good for refrigrerator
What kind of soder is it that you're using

Not need to do all that, when you use the right solder, pull a good vac, been doing it for years, no nitro, no call backs👍
@@goodeyes2cNitrogen is good. But sure, compressor and sealed system can survive without it if you do those other steps.
Great video. Love your torch.
Thanks

Will do
Just us e this analogy. If a student driver will do fine learning in a used car why would it be necessary to start training on a MB?
Hi not sure to ues your name on this site but if you can ,when your soldering are you useing the same products to connect?
No for cooper to cooper is cooper solder. To cooper to aluminum is a silver solder with flux
Whar did you do with the electrical on this compressor? Did you purchase the Jig for the upgrade or install a relay to get a standard compressor to operate?
Thank you
I actually have a jig you just update the control board and thats it . No need to replace anything else just update and ready to go
I checked into getting a Jig and the price is quite expensive in Canada. Is there another way around doing the software upgrade? You would think LG would give you the update with the new compressor.
Thank you.
@Mels can you please show us if you must upgrade firmware / board and so on. I am curious if this is 1 to 1 swap without firmware adjustments?
All from 2016 and up always when replacing compressor need to update it . Will make a short on how and what setting to put to update the control board

@@Freonleonhe meant linear he’s just slow. But you should’ve caught that Mel😅
Will a butain torch work for soldering the fittings?
Yes, no problem using that will do the job
How about the one the plumber uses 😅...i think i might work
Thanks for this great video. But the bottom tube that connect to the compressor is aluminum. How can I weld aluminum to the compressor?
Need to use silver solder with flux to solder the aluminum with cooper line
Je voulais savoir pourquoi on ajoute un autre valve de service dans le drayer ?
So you can check pressures. One is the low side the other for the filter is the high side to see exactly whats going on with the unit
Great content bro keep them coming
You need to flow nitrogen when you use a torch on the metal otherwise you create oxidation.
Can you use a normal torch?
Yes something that heats the cooper enough you should be fine
Wait a minute, don't you have to take out charge gas before unwelding?
Ofcourse you will need to recover the refrigerant. The compressor itself only has oil in it
Hi am from Trinidad i have a LG refrigerator with an
Inverter linear compressor it's not
starting up
Check voltage to compressor. Is the fan to the condenser coming on? Is the compresssor hot? Small details count
Where can I buy that torch?
I believe any refrigeration shop or stores like lowes or home depot
What about the gas when using a welder?? The repairman told me it was dangerous, which is why Excel Energy Home Service Plus won't fix them..😢
When people say that they either dont want to work on them or they dont know . Sometimes we go behind other companies and they even tell customers we dont work on them becasue ect...
Some refrigerators use propane as a refrigerant
Nice. Needs the second part, where you refill the system ... you also mentioned replacing the condenser ;-)
Second part is there in my channel. And yes replace condenser any contamination stays stuck there. Through out time it will play a factor on the cooling system

If have a temporary tap valve. It is best to put a service valve complete. Temporary valve can leak freon thruout time
you should mention that you already emptied the system first.
awesome Video
Glad you enjoyed it

Sulfuric acid 😸
That is not aluminum I think is steel pipe
You know your stuff, but sharing it would be better if you used a video editor program.
Slowly but surely thanks for the advice much appreciated 👍
The compressor the parts inside hit the shell
?
They don't like shaking

Sure thing 👍
There junk brand and rip-off
Every brand now these days. Not built the same anymore
where can i get that small torch?
At your local applaince shop or hvac . Maybe on amazon not sure
