These are specialist craftsmen. We should be sending a good amount of waste their way to refurbish and give a second life. They have the time and expertise put it to use.
As a Danish man where Danfoss is from i have big respekt you fix something old just shows Danish quality and ur skills can help the world not make so much waste 👍👍👍👍
Nice, and Greta will thank you for releasing the gas into the atmosphere.
Clever, but unless I'm missing something - a couple of potential problems with this - wire wheel cleaning the stator around 2:25 without a barrier between the wheel and the enameled windings relies on the operator always being accurate and careful. Variation in technique could easily damage the wires enamel coating and cause unexpected failure or shortening of useful life because of arcing or shorting and the refurbished item has stickers put on it that give the impression it's new not refurbished.
Hard to believe that they weren't shorted from that! Then again it isn't between the windings, only their outside edge, in close contact to nothing but oil.
This how EVERYTHING is in Pakistan. Including their economy, foreign policy and Army.
Smart, but what you dont know is that they have done this in repetition thousands of times. So no, they will not damage the wires on the stator. And then the people buying these already know that those are refurbished compressors and a lot cheaper than the new ones.
@@Tirah5 Just because somebody did thousands of times doesn't mean it's right or safe
The right thing to do would of been to varnish the stator. The cloth binding is loose which can lead to windings also becoming loose and eventually failure.
I had a friend from India at an old job, good guy, hard worker, he used to work on the floor just like this, using his feet like a bench vise and all! Me and a couple coworkers thought we would do something nice for him and so we all pitched in and bought him a used but nice work bench with a vise mounted to it, to our surprise we came in the next day to find him using it, just not the way we would, but hey, he got his work done, and his quality was good, funny as heck but he was squatting on top of the workbench working, just like he would on the floor!
How about that! Old habits die hard, I guess.
Is it possible for someone to come and learn at fee please am interested
you have to commend the effort they make to salvage junk with less than modern tech, I always find it surprising.
what's it matter what kind of tech they use? What do you know about "modern" tech anyway?
Everything they're using is still modern. Nobody in industry uses cordless gizmos for line work like this.
Machine shop. Electrician, welder, HVAC plenty skills combined
Yes, here in America, these end up in landfills. We could learn a lesson or two from these industrious guys.
Superb work. I like that this helps to keep the recycle process going rather than dumping them in a landfill. Always recycle whenever you can!
To bad they probaly just let the gas out in he atmosphere, wich is very damaging... so it would probably be better if they wouldnt salvage.
@@onemilliondollar you have to look at the brighter side of things; Even with our atmosphere completely destroyed, our houses will be nice and cool. 🤔😳🤣🤣🤣
I’ll say one thing positive here: for a stick welder that’s an awesome weld bead he laid down! But I’d think a sandblast cabinet would be much more efficient than all that wire brushing.
And a basic paint sprayer pays for itself compared to canned, after a few dozen units are painted.
Even a shitty wet sandblaster might be more useful, since these compressors are welded shut they just have to worry about keeping the ends crimped toght. Safer than a sandblaster since it's wet and doesn't produce dust.
@@firstbloood1 i
Sandblasting, sandpaper or wire brush are out if the question, the abrasive (or just rust) circulating in the sealed system oil will ruin the tolerances in the pistons rapidly. It's a total scam.

Why on earth would you want to educate-encourage young youtubers to use dangerous power tools with only bare feet and no eye protection ... Totally irresponsible.
Absolutely amazing, that welder can come and work for me anytime... excellent run he did.

Original quality is very good that allows successful restoration.
They are sold at a much lower price as compared to new units. People purchasing these units know the difference. The same shop usually sells original, remanufactured and Chinese and customer picks based on price and his preference.
Yeah lots of western ppl have a hard time understanding less deveoped populations. Like Cuba cut off for decades people do what they have too to survive. If that means bying a maybe sketchy refurb compressor at lower price so these sellers are reating to the market.

and make a parts washer with a filter in it and you will have much better results with the coils, I see you are getting dirt into the coils when you brush clean it. If they are partially degraded, you will easily see this, just put it on a megger, and it might be much worse after cleaning because you introduced near shorts into the windings. If you had clean water from a parts washer going on those coils with a brush it would greatly reduce the inclusions amount. It does not need high flow, you can built one with any small pump. I bet you could use a DIY sand/rock filter and some gravity traps for 90% less fouling of a real filter (pre filter). And flush those crimps with a alcohol spray and then silicone oil (very small amount)
You are assuming these cavemen know what a megger is. Lol!

if you wire brush the enamel wire for long enough, you can double the speed of that compressor
Using a wire wheel on the coil windings stripped them of their urethane coating and packed them full of debris which will cause them to prematurely fail. Also, they applied a "tested okay" label without actually testing the unit.
They did a pressure test, it went OK.

@@Hatori88100 that's right😂. The nicest part of this repair was probably the paint job & danfoss stickers.
This is informative to see the internals of a compressor in order to understand there is a point it can be repaired other than replacing it. But making it pretty doesnt rebuild it, i could only see cleaning the rust as one aspect and there must be an easier way such as a soak such as in vinegar to dissolve the rust and the only other thing was replacing the reed check valve and gaskets which i think is the point of the repair. The case could have been sand blasted before assembly, i think they could improve their procedure to save time and also prevent the sand paper grit from getting into the piston/cyl ruining it after some unsuspecting person puts it in a freezer. 1. dont use sandpaper or wire wheel at all, use a soak to clean the rust. 2. Replace the check valves on all units regardless. 3. Test then assemble and test again then paint.

Very good work !!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this restoration--my question is (1) how good and (2) how reliable are these rebuilt compressors. Evidently they are restored manually and their performance on an actual refrigerator has not been tested. I did not see the compressor piston rings being replaced nor any other true engineering testing performed. But apart from that the people seemed quite skilled in "hands-on" work.
These have no piston rings, piston is a clearance fit

and I highly recommend investing in a viscous brush on paint stripper (modern ethyl benzene based, not methylene chloride) to get rid of the surface paint. No dust, it comes off like wet pan drippings from a roast pan that has been soaked in soap. If you work with it in a shaded out door area (direct sun will evaproate it, you can probobly mist it with water too to keep it cold on a hot day) it will not only be cleaner but also faster then trying to brush the paint off. Recommend 1 pair heavy rubber gloves when stripping (you don't need the dexterity, the thin gloves are pointless and they degrade fast and cost money). Try it and tell me how your boogers look like, they should go from grey-black snot to clean snot when you blow your nose after doing the same job. Whenever I did abrasive paint stripping my boogers came out black and I felt choked up
Lol I don't think they care to ever do it right. They just want to harvest that money.

they even buff the tubings point opened..what would you think is there no any small particles entered to it that will damage the piston?
They are working on a dirt floor in sandals and spraying paint and solvent everywhere. Hardly a cleanroom
😢 as long time employee of Secop, formerly Danfoss, it is not nice too see as they even selling these with "original" labels.
Keeping another compressor out of the landfill and keeping people employed in meaningfully work is good. A few micron of extra dust in the compressor who cares it will still run fine for years
@@edwardtsang3243 Right on the spot. And because China factories are %100 defect free LOL
it's a scam, even if this compressor had any life in it, which I doubt (given the amount of rust it probably sat unsealed for months) it is ruined now, with all the abrasive dust in.

For those saying: "You should always recycle", you recycle only if the ROI is inline with your market. New items demand more resources be brought into the life cycle of the marketplace (mining, refining, etc). For those that say "it is too cheap quality compared to new": You have to look at the cost dynamics of your marketplace.
Did they just reconditioned an old unit to sell as a new unit? 😂
