- Shunt moves in and out of White city station to and from the old White city depot on the Central line.
This is very historic !, as you'll see the original Wood lane platforms and depot of 1908 construction. Wood lane Central London Railway station having opened in 1908 for the British Franco exhibition at White City had an odd balloon shaped loop that served originally three platforms in a triangle, and a direct severe curve platform that gave access to the car sheds that originally had a moveable wooden platform that could be swung clear for trains entering the depot.
This odd arranged ceased in 1947 when the station closed and was replaced by the nearby White city station. What makes this UNIQUE and HISTORIC footage is that is shows the original exhibition hall buildings that were built on stilts that were still standing when this film was made by Central line management in the late 1990's.
NOTHING IS LEFT of the original car sheds and depot and platforms at Wood Lane. It was all demolished as part of the hideous westfields shopping complex.
A new underground depot was built on the site of the old one and is literally Underground ! ! ! within the basement of westfields.

This gives scope as to the size of the development and how much land the original CLR depot and power house occupied .
The former power house is now used by local buses
that's where wood lane central station used to be when they closed it in 1947 luckily the Hammersmith and city line have got their station of wood lane
brillant archive video of the depot there i was a boxboy in the cabin at white city from 89 to late 90 then signalman from 92 -99 at white city thn went on the northern now last 4 years im at earls court control room miss the central line

MrEricHood C: that’s right . White city old depot was demolished, now there are stabling sidings in the basement of Westfield’s . If you browse my channel you’ll find the wood lane video that I paid a visit to that is under Westfield’s .

Are these route learning vids still used? And are they REALLY long? I feel the pain of the drivers
The drivers have to learn where all the signals and stations are somehow, so presumably they have something similar.
That said, this video is very out of date. The tunnels start much closer to the station and it's all below ground beneath Westfields now.
