His First Time Using Livescope | Crappie Fishing on Lake Somerville 2023

Went back down to Lake Somerville, but this time, I met someone who fished this lake with me many of times! It was none other than my Bro! He experienced two new things for the first time: #1 Fishing with Livescope; and #2 Fishing from a Kayak! He enjoyed both, and I actually thought he did well for it being his first time! For me, it was cool getting to see him learn and catch fish, and he got to see how hard it really is to fish from a kayak! Always great fishing with family and friends!

He might have been lol, I usually just put the top lip against the board to get a close enough measurement, and if he ain’t over 10.5, then he get to swim another day!

Hahahahah!!! That’s my lil bro! Glad you’re putting that bait to good use too! That thing works pretty well! I actually use 30lb braid, it’s good at not getting tangled on the top unless you miss on a hook set! Good fishing to ya!!!!

The only ramp I’ve ever launched at is Birch Creek but there are other sides I’ll be checking out in the future

And yeah my bro seemed a little bummed, but he actually caught more than four fish, but only had four to take home….now of course I sent him home with more than that lol, but he did alright for his first time ever. He realized that it’s not as easy as I make it look, especially in the hobie with no spot lock and high wind. Good trip coverall! Thanks GD!

That’s to keep my rod and reel from sinking to the bottom of the lake if I lost it. I forgot that the rod float cuz the cork handle!

Well….. It is a beautiful lake!! They say the water is 4’ above pool, the pier at birch is only sticking out of the water 3-4”s. We did pretty good, 44 in 2 days. We will definitely be back. If you go before the water goes back down, try the angled 6x6 post down from the pier!!!
