Never underestimate the ability of a guy with a tractor and time on his hands💪 He could build u a dang Rocket to go to the moon if that’s what ya wanted, or a 2 cylinder Deere with a turbo😳 just amazing to me still and I been around pulling tractors my whole life, these guys still blow me away the stuff they build and how well it looks and works both!!!
So I recently had my 59 530 at an antique tractor show and saw a 730 diesel there with a turbo. I was very curious how he made it work, with the issue of the cylinders both firing and then coasting for 540°, one would think that one cylinder would always end up with more boost than the other. How he had solved this was he gutted the original oil bath air cleaner and welded it up to create a "boost tank". Once spooled a bit, the turbo would pressurize the tank to the point that it had enough pressure stored to adequately fill both cylinders equally. It was a super clean looking install, he hid an air filter inside the original precleaner. So did you do something similar here?
@@austinmckenney8445 Hey Austin, not running it at present, will most likely get it back out there soon. Built it in the 90s,513 cu. in., 2,250 rpms,it would always beat the big cube "G"s.
Back when tractor pull was fun an bout power an driving ability not just money an speed

Bill, I've never heard / seen a 2 cyl JD rev so high & make so much power! Very impressive 😊
Holy crap I didn’t expect that kind of power from that 2 cylinder.
big bore on the cylinders and a huge flywheel to keep her chuggin'
Lots of torque.
They're pulling nothing
Governor, we don't need no governor.
Oldie gone nearly mad , or what ? Impressive pulling, though .😅😂❤😊😮😊
Boy I wish my old B pulled that good...
Watched you all pull at Montgomery County fair years ago the 70 and 1010 both pretty neat tractors you need to bring them up to Gladhills sometime
Can you imagine a tandem tractor like this?

Yes,I have a tank for holding the pressure.
That's badass I like seeing tractors like this pull better than the pro division because this takes real skill
I'm suprised a Johnny Popper would turn enough RPM's to spin a turbo.
There's no turbo there. Except on the last two.
I should turbo my 2 cylinder.
Love my old jd if it's not green it's not to be seen it is what it is yall if it's not green keep it in the barn 😁
I wonder what kind of RPM them two cylinders are turning? And how much HP?
jeff colt a stock 70 would get around 50 hp, and it’s not too much rpm considering you can hear the individual explosions.
@@hunternelson3018 what did it make after it was turbocharged
jeff colt i don’t know those numbers
Factory rpm's are near 1000 but that 70 sounded like it was about 2500.
@@lfeco he replied in the comments and said about 3500rpm. That’s crazy for a 2 popper lol
sounds a bit like a 2-71
Do you still run it? And how many RPM?
Every once in a while we pull it. About 3,500 rpm.s.
Bill & Michelle Grimes dang that’s quite a bit. Impressive
How well do the rod bearings hold up
OK,I'm running pretty light rods and pistons.
is that ritchie copsy on the last tractor
Yep that's Richie on "Pork & Beans".
@@billmichellegrimes2135 definitely no money wasted on cosmetic do-dads.
Where are you from you should come and pull for the south jersey tractor pull
We are in southern Maryland.South Jersey is a little farther than we usually go,and I'm not sure we'd fit with their rules, but thanks for asking.
Dam that's the best 2 cylinder I have seen run. How long have u had it? Does it hold up very good?
Ryan, I didn't see your comment till tonight,I built it in 1995, it was pretty tough back then,I've never had any major mechanical failures.
whos 720d?
That was my dad, Oscar Grimes.Truth be told, he usually beat the Turbo 70.
@@billmichellegrimes2135 i like the dual exhaust
@@billmichellegrimes2135 does any one still run that 720? must be heavily bored and stroked?

Can you still use them in the field when they are hopped up like this
