Antique John Deere Tractor Pulling. The last 20 or 30 feet.

  • The Rocky Mountain Tractor Pullers and Mark Gabardi put on a one day antique tractor pull during the Ramah Colorado prairie town celebration of it's history. The old railroad grade through town was prepared for the event and once again the strains of a laboring engine pulling a load blanketed the area around the site of the old depot. I apologize for how the video came out......I didn't know I had my JD filter on my camera. I took videos of all the different makes of tractors but every video came out as a John Deere. Sorry.

dad broke our home quarter with a 1950 John Deere 'D' and a 3 bottom plow. Love how these old girls don't power out they just spin out. Beautiful.

Those d's are pretty amazing to watch pull. Never bog, just loose traction. I guess 500ci helps 😂

I used to love watching this in the mid fifties... tractors were a little older, and a stone boat had feed bags thrown on it real fast by the young bucks... some pulling was done by draft horses... was neat. Hard to get used to these weights... young men throwing bags quick gave a real sense of how much work was being done...

Thank you SO MUCH for using whatever program it is that keeps the camera from bouncing and steadies the picture. I simply can't watch videos like that because it makes me motion sick! Thumbs up, bud.

My dad was doing a compression test on his Model A one time. He took one plug out and started the engine -- it was "pop --- WHOOSH -- pop ---WHOOSH" until he tried to push the compression tester in. The first time just tried to hold in in like he did for other engines but when that cylinder came up it blew the tester out of the hole and spun dad around. I think it finally took two people to hold it in.

I think I heard 1500 rpm there once!
Some different tyres there, some are winding right up, others hardly flex.

Thank you for sharing this video. I enjoyed my unstyled B for many years and this brought back memories. Is the operator at 7:07 holding down the governor?

I was born in '50 in Tripp County, SD. We had A, B, D, R, 620, 730D, 820 (green dash), 820 (black dash) after that it was the new generation of power. Those old Johnny Poppers were some of the guttiest tractors around. Listening to the pulling, you can hear them getting down to 300 - 500 rpm and still keeping the front end off of the ground. I've had Tinnitus since I was about eight years old from the 730s & 820s pulling full loads all day with no hearing protection. (what's hearing protection?)

I was driving a tandem Axle Chevy Truck when I was 17 years old with straight through mufflers "Rieker" Drove lots of loud riding lawn mowers loud dirt bikes and loud music .. Did a lot of Trap shooting with flimsy ear plugs .. Wore actual head phones while driving the truck after a year with no protection .. Now days I like the foam ear plugs they help a lot ..

Boy you can sure tell those tractors are pulling at elevation...don't see too many 80's and 830's running low on snot in 1st gear.

Dual stacks on a D or any other tractor are hideous

    • @banjoblast
      @banjoblast  5 років тому +1

On the D they add more power because the intake doesn't go through the hot exhaust. I can be "hideous" for more power!

I couldn't listen to that noise all day. I can tolerate the scream of a Detroit, but not a 2 or 3 cylinder engine. It just sounds like disorganized noise. Give me a big slow 4 cylinder or a smooth fast six.

    • @genearthur6889

If you had driven an otr truck with a screaming d d you would probably rethink that "listen to it all day" comment.

@@genearthur6889 I've been around all sorts of hearing damage. Straight piped diesels for 16 hours a day to stamping presses to gunfire. I still love the sound of a 2 stroke Jimmy leaning into a load. I think tripping a drill string is my favorite.
