Yes this 128MB Leadtek is very common (in EU). Rarest card is fake China 6800GT 128bit :-))))

I'm impressed by how well 128MB cards fare against games up to 2004. If you could make a comparisson of 128MB vs 256MB with everything else being the same, it could really be enlightening. I'd like to know where we start seeing big differences. 2005 maybe?

Very nice work. I have the same XFX 6800XT card with artifacts (thanks for original poor cooling), you can reanimate it for some time for testing, with bga flux nc 559 and soldering hot air gun. I think you know about it, but anyway, its better then put it in to the trash.
I have 6800XT with nv40 core (can be unlocked) and in configuration from factory (8p4v) it's just 6800 LE, it's totaly the same, they just created new name XT to make it look better for people who don't want LE, but it IS LE. 😀 I flashed bios from LE to my XT because LE is older and with older bios, I can use forceware 66.93 which has better compatibility with old DX6-7 games like AvP or NFS 5.
Awesome video topic. I cant wait for the results. I have the same motherboard and want to put together a killer Agp retro system. Also if you look around the web there are some tricks to get 4GB(2x2) working. That might be cool to include in your final/wrap up videos
Yep I know about custom bios with 4GB but not need for this tests in XP. Main goal is 100% stabil system for all cards with original GPU/RAM clocks. Max OC is another deal :-)
The cards with slight artifacts can easily be used again if you clean the old dried thermal grease and apply something decent.
All is around bad contacts under GPU or RAM modules.
It's kinda of mind boggling at how many different styles of sinks and fans there are for graphics cards.
The two 6800 cards I had went blue. I think there was a design flaw that would short pins when inserting the card into the AGP port, if the power supply was left plugged in.
That xfx looks so cool, too bad it has artefacts

Had 6800GT, it was my first high end card. Unfortunately, it passed out in mid 2008, exchanged it to Ati x1950pro AGP.
That was the best choice you was able to do back in the day, X1950 is still (maybe except HD3850) the most powerfull AGP card ever.
so the glacier is the quietest? looks cool too! was there any aftermarket cooling at the time? I have a 6800 GT but is running in a P4 3.2... maybe too much video for that machine? :D great video of your collection as usual. thanks.
Yep it is logical, Galaxy fan is licenced copy of AC Silencer. They were selling like better cooling for 6800 cards.
Great comparison. What bios you flashed on this 4CoreDual-SATA2. With custom beta version you can add 2x2GB ram module. With this motherboard there is no significant difference between DDR and DDR 2.
Last version 2.2. You right with custom BIOS and 2x2GB. 2GB total is OK for this job. Yep this chipset is quite weak.
Wow I still have around here a Leadtek 6800 GT and a Zalman cooler on it. I believe that it still works but I don't have anymore a motherboard to test it :(
All 6800's needs a good big cooler, that only 6800 ultra has

I guess you've tried this already, but I have a 6800 GS AGP that outputs garbage with DVI but works fine with a VGA adapter. So the cool looking Sparkle card might not be fully faulty.
Check smd on pcb, i have same problem, one of smd choke is broken, just soldering two contacts and its working.

This is possible way but I have xx OK cards :-)
Work for nothing. I had 6800LE by Medion. Problem was in overheated HSI (High Speed Interconnect) chip not GPU. This GPU was native PCI-E GPU and for AGP was adapted by adding bus translator. PCI-E version of these cards works fine till retire.
That's a temporary fix at best.

found a 6800 agp which is similar to your "china 6800", it also has 512 mb ddr2 / 128 bit... in 3dmark06 i get only 962 points overall (SM2: 384, SM3: 283). is that normal, does it really perform that horrible?
Because this is low cost product from abandon parts on random PCB.
@@RETROHardware yeah i found that out too now. it even had only 8 pixel / 3 vertex shaders. after some unlocking (12 pixel / 5 vertex) and a bit overclocking i got ~1300 points overall which is still terrible sadly, probably because of ddr2 + 128bit. but in a few days i will get a gainward 6800GT, same model as you used in this video.
Better choice, GW is good card.

GeForce 6800 Ultra got almost right framerates except 3DMark2001SE (all game tests except GT4 - right framerate) and 3DMark03 (GT1 only) for CPU little bottlenecked. ;)

Far Cry je samozrejme disktutabilni hra na testy. Uz jen podle verze patche. Ja se snazim jet na default + vysoke detaily. Tomu odpovidaji vysledne FPS. I tak jsem musel kvuli teto hre pouzit jiny ForceWare nez jsem chtel, protoze s novejsim ta hra nejela vubec.
Dalo by se udelat takove nastaveni, aby jsi potopil dane GPU, ale to neni zamer. Nejrychlejsi karta bude HD3850 nebo 7950GT a ne GTX1080 :-)
@@RETROHardware Ja som Far Cry svojho času testoval na verzii 1,3. Pri GeForce G70/71 závisí výkon a kvalita filtracie AF od verzie driverov. GPU rady GF 7000 mala nevyhodný pomer MUL:ADD 1:1 čím texturovacia jednotka ležala ladom a to Nvidia riešila optimalizaciou na úkor kvality AF. (Problém s vyditelným shimmeringom mal neskôr Radeon HD 5000 TeraScale 2)
