I really encourage the folks at WDWNT to continue to advocate for those with disabilities. You are one of the few that have, and I've been dropping this channel's name as one of our supporters for a while now. The disabled community has taken a ton of heat and backlash since the DAS changes. We're here, we're fighting, and we're tired. I understand that people took advantage, but I also understand that thousands of disabled folks, including myself, have lost access to a place that we hold as dearly as everyone else here. I hope Tom is right when he says change is inevitable. We're all waiting for that day.
Also…Tom mentioned that “Disney doesn’t want people canceling vacations.” One of the worst parts of this is that you can’t even apply for DAS until you are no longer able to cancel your trip and get a refund. You lose the thousands of dollars you paid if you don’t go, with or without accommodations. Disney wins either way and people are suffering horribly for it.
Thank you for mentioning Das Tom. I could feel your pain and see your sadness. Thank you for showing our community some compassion in these trying times. I know in the past I’ve been very vocal and honestly pushy about the situation, but only because it does physically hurt people. I’ll say it again, Disney should do what universal does. Work with a trained third party to review doctors notes and that’s how people will qualify for das. It will dramatically reduce cheaters and make sure das is going to people who need it. Plus it’ll be less stress for cast members and customers than when they do interviews. Plus they already do something similiar in the international parks. I really sincerely hope that’s what will happen in the future. Till then myself and many other disabled folk will not risk it and will instead go elsewhere. Disney needs to know they’re losing business for this and change. Again thank you for being das up. Most other Disney reporters and bloggers won’t, so we have to keep making noise so everyone is aware. It’s a depressing subject, but I think if enough people acknowledge the new changes are flawed and disapprove Disney will HAVE to come up with a new solution. Thank you Tom, Eric, and WDWNT
GET RID OF LIGHTNING LANE. Part of the DAS problems came because of the influx of requests because the lines became monetized. Stories like this should not be happening to people and there are so many more.
Thank you for speaking on DAS. Even if it never changes, it makes us feel seen. I have a condition that prevents me from being in one position for too long, and even a 15-20 minute line can be painful. I will swell, pass out and be unable to move well for days if forced to stand. Hopefully Disney considers a change.
“I’m obsessed with finding a new CEO” Bob, it can’t be that hard to find some billionaire business exec, we all know that’s who you want. You don’t want a creative, you want a business person.
I'm a 100 % permanent and total, disabled war Veteran, who previously qualified, and seriously needed DAS, but no longer qualify. In fact, Disney does nothing for people like me, since I'm not active, and not retired military, no Shades of Green or ticket discounts. I'm not complaining about that, I will pay my own way but the DAS was a very big thing and made our park visits doable. Now it's not available for me, so wife and I are probably not renewing our AP's. It's just very physically and mentally draining to try wait in long lines for attractions. Doesn't feel enjoyable at all.
I’ve had a wdw annual pass for a good portion on my life. I’m now permanently disabled with mobility issues and neurological issues. I no longer qualify for DAS. That said, I will not be renewing or going to the parks any time in the foreseeable future.
Tom, thank you and everyone at WDWNT for speaking out about DAS. Back in July my 78 year old mother with 6 chronic health conditions insisted on joining me for my 50th birthday celebration at WDW. Being forced to wait in long lines in the July heat and humidity took its toll on my mother.
I saw a TikTok of a young lady with a tracheostomy on a ventilator in a wheelchair. Stating she was denied Das. This is no longer the most magical place! Disney used to go above and beyond for their guest’s experience. Disney has become too expensive, and too large of a company. It’s a sad state of affairs.
Doesn’t Disney have video of nearly every part of the park? It looks like they could verify her claim by viewing the area where the injury supposedly happened.
I too am perm disabled with mobility problems with two separate congenital neuromuscular disorders, I am under the muscular dystrophy umbrella but was still functional until around 2007. I and others saw this coming to which others, who do not understand our view or individual disability, said Disney has a separate thing for that, no problem just call and you can still get it, which by the way no one talks about and isn't well publicized. I understood some may and was willing to wait and see....we were right to be concerned that it wasn't true. Those who said that are the ones with no disabilities so it doesn't pertain to them. Unless you are living it, you could have no idea how much elaborate extra planning is involved in traveling. I have 24/7 life changing pain, standing in place is excruciating. Practicing standing in a line is a joke, it is a humiliating insult like we aren't really having problems, its our imagination. It is heartbreaking, I am so thankful for streamers to fill a void. Just because they are making the parks largely inaccessible to us doesn't mean we stop loving Disney. I used to be at the parks all the time like todays bloggers but before youtube, going to conventions, being behind the scenes as an assistant to help imagineers and legends, then my physical condition progressed as well as I became moms full time caregiver, my life stopped. Disney is still a part of me, for me since my first Disney trip was when I was 5 going to Magic Kingdom in 1972. Part of my family moved to Tampa in '71 so once or twice a year we all went while I was growing up. I have been working on my strength in hopes of planning a trip, and while going is still fun and enjoyable without rides, I am no longer thinking of going. I do have many other hobbies and interests and a life as all disabled do, for going to Disney, virtual is fine. I am so so grateful to the whole WDW News team! Thank you.
They do. There is a building on property that has a gigantic room full of screens watching every park. In addition there is a camera on top of the magic kingdom that can read the numbers on a dollar bill at the gate entrance where you pay for parking. Not sure why morgan and morgan took the case. It does not take much sense to just step into a store if you know you are so brittle that you can't handle a crowd. But then again, people walk in that place like they have a shield protecting them, and you are wearing a cloaking device. LOL!
Cancelled 2 * 14 days trips from the UK because of the DAS ridiculous situation and turned a 3rd one into Universal because they happily looked at documentation and provided it within 24hrs. It makes me sad after 10 years of coming but at least we have DLP who do accept medical evidence and grants it.
@@WDWNT yes but Disney could use a 3rd party like Universal does so that proof can be shown and then there would be no grey areas anymore or CM interrogating 7 year old children asking them questions they can’t comprehend. I miss Disney and I hope they find a better solution that’s all.
At some point, someone is going to get a great ADA lawyer, sue the heck out of them, and they'll change. Some people can not stand in line... shame on them.
@@abackus6546 I actually have a friend who is an attorney in that realm, not in Florida, here in Massachusetts, and he had some excellent ideas of how exactly to make this stick in court. The ADA act is very powerful and they have a powerful lobby. Perhaps a practiced attorney who knows the political/media ropes would have more success. Never say never. If the general public had any idea what is going on, this would be changed. Your flippant attitude makes me think you don't have anyone in this circumstance.
@@tiffanydeangelo8575 your attorney friend would also admit that 99% of claims of this type are settled out of court. You have to understand that WDW has an entire “cubicle farm-like department” devoted to these types of nuanced complaints where they handle incoming snail mail/email DAILY. Think Bob Parr in the incredibles movie scene. So personal feelings aside, I’m offering up the likely outcome. You cannot call your local weatherman flippant for telling you that rain is in the forecast 🤷🏻♂️
@@abackus6546 While many may settle this out of court because what they are looking for is money, a good attorney in this realm would take this to court, and have the right to do so. If you have a client who isn't looking for money, but change, you have a right to go to court (assuming they didn't sign up for Disney plus lol). I've had this discussion with my friend, who litigates in many states. He's an activist. What I'm saying is that these responses are short sighted. With proper media and political involvement, things would be changed. I suspect Disney would not want to be known for this nationwide.
As far as the DAS, one thing Disney COULD offer to the girl with narcolepsy, and that would help a lot of others, like myself with nerve damage in my leg from a rattlesnake bite, would the the ability to check in with a cast member at the attraction entrance, and get a return time for the Lightning Lane equal to the standy by queue time, so we could just sit somewhere rather than just standing in a line that may or may not be moving. If the line is moving, I'm fine. If it is static, that is when I have problems with my leg.
Yeah, that was how DAS worked. You didn’t just get to get on the ride. You were given a return time, often equal to the posted wait time. Not like there is any place to sit and rest, Iger removed all the seating, tables/chairs, and benches around the parks.
That’s exactly what it was when I went in 2018. It is never a skip the line. You got a return time equal to standby line and it was very fair. It’s what universal did as well.
Im someone who used DAS previously because of urinary incontinence issues. Im a 20 yr AP holder, and the second half of this one is wasted. I can't get deep into the Space Mountain line, have an emergency, and get out in time. I never minded sitting outside with an icecream , or shopping while I waites (or doing something nostalgic, like a Tiki Room or something) but Ive been literally pushed out of the park by this DAS policy. I just dont know how they can say this condition is worth accommodating for and this other one isn't, from an ADA perspective.
It is ridiculous they are only zeroing in on one type of disability (autism) and even then they aren’t consistent with approving people even with autism, there are many disabilities that were accommodated under the old DAS, there are lots of disabilities that are invisible, Disney wants to say they won in all this by shortening the lines but honestly the reason why lines are shorter is because they are excluding 90% of people with disabilities, people want to act like disabilities don’t exist but they do and in far greater numbers than people think, it’s shameful that Disney keeps doing this and that should be the message here in plain English it is just wrong and not the Disney way
@adamp2384 I don't even think they are zeroing in on people with autism, rather zeroing in on "autism moms". As someone who is autistic with lower support needs, I have never had an issue with waiting in lines, yet it's possible I could get approved because I act really awkward face to face, and I feel so bad for people like the original commenter and wish I could transfer it to them. And can just tell this change was made to accommodate for "autism moms", the moms of high support needs autistic children who think the world revolves around them and use their children as props to make people feel bad for them. They love to gatekeep autism and support for it from people with lower support needs than their children, and I'm sure they don't care about people with other disabilities either.
At least at Disneyland the system was highly abused, and that comes from a friend of the family who used and needed it. But also as far as I know, again at Disneyland, it works somewhat like Lightning Lane where you did get a return time. Yes, you may have to wait in a short line but you have to expect that because others may be waiting as well. I do agree with Tom it needs to be fixed and that may be buying a pass. But no matter what system they use, there will most likely always be wait times just like with LL. I personally do not think anyone should have the privilege of just jumping to the front. How is that fair to others who are in a long line or paid for LL?
@@adamp2384Honestly, had this family purchased a MultiPass they would have avoided this. Yes there still would be a short wait but everyone needs to deal with that.
@@FunAtDisneyyou don’t really get to skip the line though you get a return time for what the regular line current standby time is then come back and gain access to the lightning lane, in many instances you actually wait longer than the regular standby line would be, it’s a big misconception you just get to skip a line, in reality you get less done in a day because with Multipass you can have 3 places held at a time DAS is still one at a time and you have to wait 10 minutes after you ride to do another DAS reservation so if you could wait in standby lines you could do a lot more than someone having to deal with DAS systsn
The "wheelin" in our username refers to my son's wheelchair. We are lucky that this change in the DAS policies doesn't affect us. His full-time wheelchair use has always been enough to get the accommodations he needs. But this whole DAS mess just breaks my heart. I'm mad that people were so selfish to abuse the previous policy, and now I'm sad that the new policy is making it hard for some people to enjoy a visit at the parks. I can only hope that Disney can find a middle ground here. Perhaps if enough people tell their stories of the difficulties they have visiting the parks, Disney will hear and find ways to adjust the new policies. That's where Disney vloggers like WDWNT can play a role. I'm pretty sure some fairly high ups in the Disney management pay attention to the fans. One admitted at D23 to watching fan videos to get a sense of their reaction. I encourage WDWNT to keep talking about this issue, preferably by telling the stories of people affected by the new DAS policy. The more these are made known, the more likely it is that the policies will be changed again.
I am an advocate for hiden disability awarness at theme parks. The Current DAS is not going to last. The ADA regulations are not being adhered to on many fronts. I myself have to use my personal ecv to be able to make most of the day thru any park. I can walk about 100 yards before needing to sit for a extended time. I can't do any prolonged standing without my legs going numb. Over the years I have been to many theme parks and the disability programs are so vastly different and they change constanly. I also have had an issue with having to disclose personal medical information to people who have zero medical training and have the ability to make decitions about my disability and what they belive I am capable of doing. I understand that there are some people who abuse the system and that has to be stopped. But at what cost? I know many people who have hidden disabilities that would apear normal. The case you have showcased in todays video is a perfect example of a hidden disability that should never be questioned by any company. The emabresment alone of having the disability is enough, then being told you don't have a disability important enough to be deserving of a service to help make your day tolerable is obhorant. I have heart problems that are genetic and I am a partial para. At one time I was told that I was using a minor disability to surcomvent the system that Disney had in place. I have been going to WDW for all of my life. My Family even got to go before the official opening In 71'. I had held an annual pass for so many years and finaly gave it up in 2021. I miss the Disney that made Magic for everyone, No mater who you are! I never asked for anything special. Using the fast pass or alternate entrances even took away form the overall expereance of the attraction. You will miss the suttle or not so suttle things put into the que that are part of the whole experiance of the attraction. But that is the penalty you pay when you use those entances. I could say so much more on this and I know it will fall on the "Deaf Mouse" Ears of Disney and other theme parks.
I’m not sure why this is so hard to believe. I saw a woman pushed to the ground at DCA in the Pixar Pier area amidst a large, fast-moving crowd. A guy pushed her out of her way and the crowd did not stop. She was on the ground screaming. Security came. The initial security personnel gave her a hard time because they were annoyed that she was screaming. Eventually a supervisor got there and they talked to the guy pointed out as the person who pushed her. I came back through 20 minutes later. There were more security personnel than I knew they had at DCA-I rarely saw them. At least 20. Both the woman and the man were still there, presumably waiting for police. I don’t know if they were worried that friends and family of the two parties were getting into it or why they needed so many personnel. By the way, my view was blocked but I was close to the incident. So I couldn’t have testified or anything. But I did witness the initial scene before security arrived. It was obvious he had intentionally knocked her down because she got in his way. He was drunk or high and angry. The initial security assumed she was in the wrong because she was hysterical and it annoyed them. In my experience, people tend not to believe victims. I have also seen a woman get literally knocked off her feet at Epcot near the International Gateway. In this case an overweight young teen-looked about 13 and 200-250 pounds had been running at top speed (I think maybe playing tag or something), stumbled and hit her so hard he honestly sent her flying. The woman was shaken and injured. I went to help. A cast member took over-but honestly wasn’t that great. “It’s just a kid.” It was an accident in a sense, but also extremely reckless on the kids part. He had run past me before hitting the lady. I’m not saying he tried to hit the woman-but he made sure not to hit me. The smallish lady-didn’t try as hard to avoid her. Were either of these women “stampeded?” I don’t really care-from my experience, it definitely seems possible the woman was injured. I also note that the 3 people in these cases were women. It’s a lot different if you are a man walking in a crowd, especially if you’re big, than if you are a woman. Why assume it’s BS? Personally, I’d assume that if it weren’t a strong case, that the Disney legal team we have already had it dismissed.
@@josueelombre931 no one is forcing her to go? Are you kidding me? Lol. You clearly know nothing of law and the Americans with Disability Act. BY US LAW, she has every right to go AND be accommodated. Google and educate yourself
The DAS system needs to be revamped. While I don't need DAS and my elderly mother doesn't qualify, alternatives are needed for those who can't stand or walk for long periods. Numerous queues are not designed for EVCs, and not every ride is genie+. While Disney has said they are going to spend $60 billion dollars, how about using some of that money to create wait zones for people who need a helping hand. I'm sure the Disney app can be modified to send a alert to the waiting party when the rest of the party who was standing in line approaches the front.
Thanks for highlighting this, Tom. I Could see that you were not happy with Walt Disney World for making the changes. Love watching your videos, You can tell how passionate you are. We fly out on September 18th, Hopefully you are wandering around the park. Paul
IDK about stampedes but Disney employees are trained to tell people in certain areas "If people are not moving go around them" not a fan of that and seen a few uncomfortable situations break out thanks to it.
I wish Disney would put facades and shops on east and west sides of Main (Carribean and Marketplace) and open that all up to give more breath to that whole area. They open the backstage areas sometimes for crowd relief anyway, so push everything outward and takeover those spaces to add more space and avoid these "stampedes".
Hopefully whoever they get as CEO will put out great animated stuff, finish the Tinker bell movies, make awesome Marvel and Star Wars movies and bring back Muppets and Disney Store
Disney's crowd control for the night-time firework show has gotten horrendous in the past few years. I remember trying to bypass the crowds and I wasn't allowed to because the cast members had closed all the walking paths. They roped off most roads and were directing people to the center of the park with their little air traffic runway lights even though some didn't even want to go there. I have no doubt that someone got trampled and I'm honestly surprised this doesn't get reported on more often
I guess Disney is going to need to go to a system similar to Universal's-- medical proof offered for diagnoses that Disney has said will qualify. Right now I think a lot of people feel like qualifying is a moving target. I don't think DAS was needed for every included condition before-- some conditions don't preclude waiting in line. But a kid with chronic nausea issues due to disability, for instance, should still get the pass. Nobody wants the kid in line next to them to barf on them. It's a kindness to other guests as well.
Disney needs to get over its arrogance and adopt the industry standard. Six Flags, Universal, Sea World, use the same third party verification service.
@@WDWNTNot as much as they hate the new das changes. Sure it’s a bit of a pain to get a doctor’s note, but it’s better than nothing at all. It’s the best way they can make sure people who need das get it and people who are trying to cheat don’t get it.
As a type 1 diabetic who works in diabetes camps I know tons of diabetic groups that would abuse the DAS system and probably ruined it for others. I have never personally needed the DAS service. That being said this isn’t the solution…
I know it won’t happen but I really wish that Iger and the Board would name both a new CEO and COO when they announce their succession plans with the CEO being the visionary and the COO focusing on the operation. They need to be chosen as a pair. Disney has always been at its best with Walt and Roy and also with Eisner and Wells and should return to that.
Thank you so much for speaking on DAS! This has adversely effected so many and its so sad. My family included. The more awareness we bring to this hopefully the better outcome and changes are made because as it stands right now ...its unsafe and discriminatory. This isnt Disney anymore....
If we have people waiting in lines who can't mentally or physically wait in lines won't that cause problems? People passing out, freaking out, law suites from health issues of waiting or getting stuck in line and ques slowing down due to said emergencies?
i was actually at MK during the stampede it’s really a terrible story. we were all minding our own business when suddenly a pack of crazed guests rushed through to get to their boarding group for tron. of course that specific guest got caught in the middle of it all and had to fight her way out. eventually she got out and clawed her way up all the way to the top of the train station. there she found a shadowy figure and reached out her arm for the figure to grab her and pull her up. then to her surprise the figure reveals themselves and it’s none other than bob chapek. after realizing who it was she began to scream and beg for mercy only for him to reply “there’s no mercy where i come from, the red gold ketchup facility”. finally he pushed her back into the crowd and bob ran off never to see that light again.
Find someone that does NOT DESTROY every single iconic, classic, and nostalgic attraction at the Disney Parks!! Walt Disney himself said, "Plus It!"... NOT destroy it, and start over again with something fresh, new, and keeps up with the competition. Thus destroying everything nostalgic about Disney! Europe has always cherished and protected their historical landmarks. We could LEARN a thing or two in the States!!
13:31 I wonder if I can blow WDW/Tom's mind about not a simple reference in a game but a completely integrated part of a story where the ride is not only completely used but is essentially a Director's Cut version you can freely explore. And no, I'm not talking Minecraft.
Unfortunately I did see a child get run over with a scooter after the fire works and woman just kept going . I do think we need lanes for the scooters or separate area,.The poor kid was screaming crying and her Dad was so upset 😬. My daughter in-law has MS and had to fight for herself after being denied in May . I hope they get that worked out I don’t think she could do the parks anymore without it 😢
I agree DAS needs to be better defined to allow proper and fair access for those with a disability to enjoy the park equally alongside everyone else. However I do understand the Disney point of view when you see three young people with no apparent disability taking turns on an electric mobility vehicle in a long standby line. I am able bodied, but would absolutely support a similar product to Lightning Lane offered with a discount to those who can provide medical proof of their needs which Disney should not limit to specific disabilities as they do now. After all 'Inclusion' is one of the five keys, Safety, Courtesy, INCLUSION, Show and Efficiency - surely Inclusion should be as applicable to both guests and cast as is Safety.
I used to qualify for DAS. After reading the horror stories, I decided to not bother. Yes, I am not happy about it. I have a condition that makes it impossible to wait in long lines, but I now just pay for LL. Life is too short and I refuse to be any more stressed than I am already.
I’m obsessed with finding a new CEO. Anyone you listed should not be considered since there doesn’t seem to be good creative leadership in ANY of those areas. We need an Eisner style guy with. 10 year term limit. After 10 these executives expire
It's impossible to accommodate everybody. That said, it should be a case by case basis. Some people actually need it and some people are just dramatic and using their diagnosis as an excuse for benefits. As someone with autism, I personally can wait in a goddamn line.
@@punxsydawn I've been behind people at Guest Services looking to get DAS because they have, "uhhh.... anxiety." Not that anxiety can't be debilitating, but if you're asking for this accommodation you need to be able to articulate why it's an issue and what you need better than that. When that guest walked away, and I told my story, the GS CM was always polite and professional, even though I was talking about a very private topic, and they never had trouble deciphering my legitimate need from the person ahead of me who was trying to get a leg up. If the barrier to entry was still to low, or AP holders used it too much, I would have been ok providing medical documents or even paying a fee.
Disney should just do what universal and six flags does and contract out to IBCCES, who verify disability through required documentation through a health provider or school district and supply a card which is good for 1 year. You just show your card at guest services and you are registered for your visit. That would virtually eliminate cheaters, and allow those who need DAS to have it. My guess is that Disney doesn’t want to relinquish control over the process.
@@WDWNT I’ll subscribe to the channel. I’m curious to see what issues people have had with it. We haven’t had any problems with it so far but we have only used it a couple of times at USH.
With crowds the way they are and having to pay so much extra for fast pass now, I only get to ride a few rides too. So riding a few rides and not all the rides is the norm.
3:24 yes but the crowds have become mean @ Disneyland. Because I was there on 8/13 and 25% of the rides were closed for refurbishment or the project. And the rest of the rides: some of them were shutting down. And taking a long time to come up. there was so little people eaters left. That was the meanest day I’ve ever experienced. I usually don’t care about the guests but when they just ruin your entire day over and over. I don’t doubt that this happened. Because with less people eaters means more mean spirited guests. i’m gonna talk to Disneyland next time I go because they have cast members that are not manning rides because the rides are shut down so DL can use them for something else like more entertainment or something else that can pull more people. This kind of stuff only happens when when there’s very, very little entertainment or attractions or anything. there’s a lot more cutting and being mean and ruining the the fireworks for everybody and blocking people being able to cross Main street is bad. It’s going to continue to be this bad as they keep closing more rides for refurbishments until at least after the November 15.
I am illegally blind individual that used ass and very disappointed that this was taken away. It’s a shame that people were abusing the system. But I think some of this is Disney’s fault because of people were using it to avoid buying Genie plus or lightning lanes. But the current system doesn’t really work. I’m not sure what my next trip beingwill be like as a blind individual.
My dad, who is notorious for leveraging every stubbed toe for a disability pass never leveraged his narcolepsy for one. Her description sounds just like how we all feel in line- every toddler, every dad and kid who got hauled out of bed for rope drop.
I keep headring about people with these conditions where I feel like, you couldnt have been getting it before or that they were part of the problem that got tge system changed. Some woman on of the FB groups said she couldnt wait in line because of anxiety, thats nuts. This girl having a case of the sleepys doesnt seem super legit to me.
I kinda have to agree about this girl with narcolepsy. Okay. So if you get that tired standing in line then maybe if you're with more than 2 people, you could get a cast member and let them know that you just need to go sit down and your other people stand in line and when you're closer, then you can come and stand with them again. I don't see a problem with that. It's no different than a family having to take a toddler at a line because they're getting a little too rambunctious. I mean, I've seen kids fall asleep in line. I've seen people fall asleep on rides, but it is what it is and sadly everybody is different. I do believe autism, a 100% Should be covered within the realms. There are people with autism who are highly functioning. There are people with ashburgers who do get overwhelmed in the big crowds, and I do believe the anxiety and stuff like that is legitimate and then there are the people who just claim That they can't stand in long lines, because they suffer from a horrible disease called entitlement people in wheelchairs, people with mobility issues. And unfortunately, the people with the unseen illnesses PTSD anxiety. Yes, those 2 can be just as bad as any other with standing in a crowd. But I think disney needs a system where you can check people's medical records and show that they have legitimately been being treated consistently for something that qualifies them for the DAS pass. There has to be some form of legal way to do a background check on the situation. I feel bad for a lot of these people with legitimate disabilities.Mental or physical who aren't being allowed to go anymore. And as for this woman who claims all these injuries and was stepped on and there was a stampede. Someone please get the CCTV footage. It's Disney, for gods sake, there's cameras everywhere. I just don't understand yes, if you legitimately got hurt fine, but you're blaming Disney for the crowds while you went there. You knew how crowded it was. There's always a chance you're gonna get bumped or shoved. I highly doubt there was a stampede now on any of my trips. I have never seen a crowd go running. Cos 1 you're not allowed to run. I could see someone walking with purpose, but to cause this kind of injury and damage. Come on, it's just another person trying to get some money from Disney and also with the person who passed away because of allergies. Why are they suing Disney Raglan Road isn't owned by Disney. It's just another way to try and get money. I'm sorry the person passed away, and that's awful. what happened but sue their insurance sue Raglan road. There's no reason to Sue Disney, just because the restaurant was in Disney Springs.
The end game is: If you're a genuine wheelchair user dont bother coming because you won't get on any rides! i've beern there, done it & got the t-shirt
0:32: Honestly, I think Bob Iger should hand the reins of the company over to someone from Walt's family. Over the years, we have seen that the upper management team does not know what they're doing i. e. The new DAS pass system. The company needs someone at the helm with Walt's ideals and principles. The LAST thing the company needs is another Bob Paycheck! 2:13: I'm not trying to make light of what this lady went through but it sounds like she's overreaching when she says she was "stampeded". As someone who uses a mobility device the parks, I can tell you that while the parks are definitely crowded, the danger of being stampeded is minimal. The most guests will do is jump in front of you in order to take a picture of Cinderella Castle. 8:35: the new DAS pass system is disgraceful and disgusting.😡 Excluding a wide array of disabilities and telling those who can't wait in line due to their disability to "wear adult diapers" is unacceptable! Walt builts the parks so that ALL families could visit and enjoy their time together. This new DAS pass system is blatant discrimination and undermines one of the company's basic principles: INCLUSION!!! I sincerely hope that the disability focus group increases its pressure on Disney until they change this EXTREMELY flawed system!😡
Disney can tell if someone is using someone else ticket but can't tell if a disable person who got a DAS is hiring themself out by add other people into there group. I CANCLE my July trip over not getting a DAS. And the though of me paying more when I can stay all day in a park id BULLSHIT
Tom I hope you can give a update to the stampede case. Disney has security camera everywhere except restrooms. So I'd like to know.. Poor little privileged girl. People forget that Disney is private property. It is not a birthright to get special privileges. Blame the people who abused the system. I wonder what the policy is at theme parks like Universal or Six Flags. So many people bring in dogs and don't pick up their mess. Ride around in motorized wheel chairs like they are at a motor speedway. And then there are the cut the line 18 member families. Just because you want to get on a ride does not mean you should. If that young lady is that sick then her park visit should be planned around her illness. Multipass Rope drop, there are plenty of strategies to avoid long waits. That entitled attitude is pervasive with many Disney guests because of the cost. But nobody is making you pay it. There is nothing requiring you to be there. Go to Fun Spot, or other places that poorer people have to go. Or watch one of several live feeds that are on UA-cam on a daily basis. Everybody has challenges. Get up early. Get to the park at rope drop. Stay at a resort that offers 30 min early entry and 1 hour late nite after hours stays. There are all kinds of ways to skin a cat, and there are plenty of Disney vloggers teaching strategies for free.
12:29 This is the first time I’ve actually seen Tom ‘pull a punch’ at Disney. When talking about DAS he says “There’s people with definite needs that are getting denied and I don’t know how I feel about that.” You don’t KNOW how you feel, or you don’t want to SAY how you feel?
Here’s an explicit reason: he is not an authority on the application of ada guidelines; thus, he is not qualified to weigh in on a matter as complex disability access at disney. And that is not me being disrespectful. The topic is way too nuanced to flesh out on WDWnews.
I thought he was pretty harsh here. He spent several minutes of the show saying they can and should do better even though there is no proposed solution that has any traction and he admits he doesn’t know how to fix it either. It’s a tough issue and Disney is doing an OK job IMO.
This is a talking point created by Disney for people to use in conversation. Meanwhile they have released no data on misuse, and they do not have any proof of misuse that they have noted. It also helps to out people like you with your clearly ablest views.
Iger's OBSESSED with a new CEO. He's so obsessed, he probably won't be able to pick one for another decade or so!!! He then excused himself so he could start cutting the budgets for everything announced at D23.
Have you ever slept in a wheelchair? They aren't built for it, and it isn't a pleasant experience. This is from someone who has Spina Bifida and wheelchair bound from birth. Wheelchairs can do many things, but sleeping in them isn't one of them.
Can't really blame Disney for the DAS changes. If you want to blame someone, blame all the people that took advantage of the system. I understand there are some legitimate cases that need it but it has been abused beyond belief
Thank you for bringing up the DAS issue. Your reach truly helps those of us who need it
GET RID OF LIGHTNING LANE.
“I’m obsessed with finding a new CEO”
Bob, it can’t be that hard to find some billionaire business exec, we all know that’s who you want. You don’t want a creative, you want a business person.
0:32 that’s great, Bob; let’s make park maintenance and cleaning your new obsession.
Amen! WDW park maintenance has become a joke. It's like Itchy & Scratchy Land.
@@SMTraz What about Euro Itchy and Scratchy land?
😂😂😂😂
Sorry for impairment and hope you can enjoy something new or these videos.
Good for you. God bless
For that reason, they have less video then you might think.
Anyone responsible for this ridiculous DAS program needs to be fired immediately.
Thank you.
Surely, Disney would have surveilance video of the "stampede" on Main Street.
LOL!
These people trying to sue the company for being knocked over is ridiculous
She had "terminal" injuries?? Does... Does her lawyer not know what that means?
Cancelled 2 * 14 days trips from the UK because of the DAS ridiculous situation and turned a 3rd one into Universal because they happily looked at documentation and provided it within 24hrs. It makes me sad after 10 years of coming but at least we have DLP who do accept medical evidence and grants it.
I don’t have a problem with the DLP system but it’s not legal in the US
@@WDWNT yes but Disney could use a 3rd party like Universal does so that proof can be shown and then there would be no grey areas anymore or CM interrogating 7 year old children asking them questions they can’t comprehend. I miss Disney and I hope they find a better solution that’s all.
Moral of the story: “Don’t let Bob cook!”
At some point, someone is going to get a great ADA lawyer, sue the heck out of them, and they'll change. Some people can not stand in line... shame on them.
Disney is constantly sued. And the greatest ada lawyer operating from a place of rationality would tell you it’s a frivolous claim.
What ADA rule or regulation is Disney not following? They make all of their rides accessible.
I suspect many of us are obsessed with finding the next Disney CEO. This obsession is about 5 years too late?
As far as the DAS, one thing Disney COULD offer to the girl with narcolepsy, and that would help a lot of others, like myself with nerve damage in my leg from a rattlesnake bite, would the the ability to check in with a cast member at the attraction entrance, and get a return time for the Lightning Lane equal to the standy by queue time, so we could just sit somewhere rather than just standing in a line that may or may not be moving. If the line is moving, I'm fine. If it is static, that is when I have problems with my leg.
This sounds like what DAS was originally intended to be like.
It’s what universal did as well.
terminal injury,,,,,,if shes not dead it wasnt terminal
You can’t sue Disney for someone running into you
Looking forward to room tours and restaurant reviews from the new Poly tower
I nominate Eric for CEO!
Why are you embarrassed? There's such a thing as Disability Pride and you have a right to it
Crowds always move so slow I dont think a stampede is possible 😂
2:1 odds that Bob finds the "new" CEO in his bathroom mirror. Another extension coming soon?
That is ridiculous about DAS not qualifying physical disabilities as disabilities. That poor girl. I feel so bad for her. This is seriously bull.
No one is forcing her to go…
It's the age where everyone is a victim and we just have to live with it I guess.

@@josueelombre931 no one is forcing her to go? Are you kidding me? Lol. You clearly know nothing of law and the Americans with Disability Act. BY US LAW, she has every right to go AND be accommodated. Google and educate yourself
News flash crowds are big everywhere so watch where you’re going

With all the fights and disruptions that’s happened in the last couple years, I have to doubt that people stampeding to leave happens
My heart when we went & it was closed still 🥺 it looked so brown too! Something has definitely happened that they don’t wanna say
10:53 yes please fix DAS. I thought Disney was about inclusivity.
People don’t like the Universal system either, that’s not the solution
Once you said “Morgan and Morgan”. Oh my gosh! Really? What was life flight called in too?
Disney needs to get over its arrogance and adopt the industry standard. Six Flags, Universal, Sea World, use the same third party verification service.
People hate that too
@@WDWNTNot as much as they hate the new das changes.
That being said this isn’t the solution…
had a good experience with my DAS call, but definately would be frustrating if you truely need it, but denied maybe limit party sizes
Ooooh, I really like your shirt!
If we have people waiting in lines who can't mentally or physically wait in lines won't that cause problems? People passing out, freaking out, law suites from health issues of waiting or getting stuck in line and ques slowing down due to said emergencies?
We would. Hmmm…
i was actually at MK during the stampede it’s really a terrible story. we were all minding our own business when suddenly a pack of crazed guests rushed through to get to their boarding group for tron. of course that specific guest got caught in the middle of it all and had to fight her way out. eventually she got out and clawed her way up all the way to the top of the train station. there she found a shadowy figure and reached out her arm for the figure to grab her and pull her up. then to her surprise the figure reveals themselves and it’s none other than bob chapek. after realizing who it was she began to scream and beg for mercy only for him to reply “there’s no mercy where i come from, the red gold ketchup facility”. finally he pushed her back into the crowd and bob ran off never to see that light again.
TERMINAL injuries? Did you mean "internal"?
Unfortunately I did see a child get run over with a scooter after the fire works and woman just kept going . I do think we need lanes for the scooters or separate area,.The poor kid was screaming crying and her Dad was so upset 😬. My daughter in-law has MS and had to fight for herself after being denied in May . I hope they get that worked out I don’t think she could do the parks anymore without it 😢
How did Tom not say (by accident or on purpose) “we’ve got thirty Gertie”? 😅
Wish WDWNT had a BlueSky or Mastodon account
If that woman stampeded has Disney+, Disney is gonna finish the job.
Joe Rhode should be the next CEO!
Glad to see Gertie again! ❤🦕
Too many scammers ruined the system for DAS.
We get negative comments about IBCCES constantly at UPNT, so it doesn’t seem like the solution
@@WDWNT I’ll subscribe to the channel. I’m curious to see what issues people have had with it. We haven’t had any problems with it so far but we have only used it a couple of times at USH.
got me a Gertie plush…. 😊
With crowds the way they are and having to pay so much extra for fast pass now, I only get to ride a few rides too. So riding a few rides and not all the rides is the norm.
Says the guy who messed up the first time he tried to find a replacement.
Christmas Gertie next? 🙏
She should sue the crowd that knocked her over
I’ll do it!
4:31 god I hope it’s better than that craptacular test track 2.0. That thing was pure trash.
Make Tom the CEO, or at least in charge of the parks!
I’ll do it Bob
Is there a reason the News Today logo hasn’t been used on the thumbnails this week?
Because UA-cam’s algorithm requires us to do all sorts of nonsense to get recommended on your feed
@@WDWNT got it! I assumed there was some logistical reason 😃
8:35 smacks of ableism
Hopefully the replacement is nothing like Iger or chapek.
Disney can tell if someone is using someone else ticket but can't tell if a disable person who got a DAS is hiring themself out by add other people into there group. I CANCLE my July trip over not getting a DAS. And the though of me paying more when I can stay all day in a park id BULLSHIT
With that case? Get a LL like the rest of us
Tom I hope you can give a update to the stampede case.
There are all kinds of ways to skin a cat, and there are plenty of Disney vloggers teaching strategies for free.
sorry, but english is not good but what podcast he went? i like to hear him.
Proven liar Robert Iger will never leave Disney for a long, long time. He will then put his son into the CEO position.
I’ll be the CEO!!!
Can I join you as well? I have got a lot of ideas that would help Disney Parks get back on track. I would like to be the Parks Chairman.
@@RonanBunny you sir are a genius!!!
Sure if i was the CEO, i’d hire you for sure
12:29 This is the first time I’ve actually seen Tom ‘pull a punch’ at Disney. When talking about DAS he says “There’s people with definite needs that are getting denied and I don’t know how I feel about that.” You don’t KNOW how you feel, or you don’t want to SAY how you feel?
Pretty sure I said something has to be done two seconds later.
Here’s an explicit reason: he is not an authority on the application of ada guidelines; thus, he is not qualified to weigh in on a matter as complex disability access at disney.
And that is not me being disrespectful. The topic is way too nuanced to flesh out on WDWnews.
@@abackus6546 that makes a lot of sense. That’s not the message I heard but thank you for helping me reframe my assumptions.
I thought he was pretty harsh here. He spent several minutes of the show saying they can and should do better even though there is no proposed solution that has any traction and he admits he doesn’t know how to fix it either. It’s a tough issue and Disney is doing an OK job IMO.
Hall Elizabeth Young Margaret Hernandez Patricia
They are weeding out the cheaters das pass
But also harming people with legitimate disabilities
@@WDWNT what is an illegitimate disability?
This is a talking point created by Disney for people to use in conversation. Meanwhile they have released no data on misuse, and they do not have any proof of misuse that they have noted. It also helps to out people like you with your clearly ablest views.
Iger's OBSESSED with a new CEO. He's so obsessed, he probably won't be able to pick one for another decade or so!!! He then excused himself so he could start cutting the budgets for everything announced at D23.
Why couldn't the narcoleptic girl use a wheelchair?? Her family could push n she could sleep in line??
Have you ever slept in a wheelchair? They aren't built for it, and it isn't a pleasant experience. This is from someone who has Spina Bifida and wheelchair bound from birth. Wheelchairs can do many things, but sleeping in them isn't one of them.
Can't really blame Disney for the DAS changes. If you want to blame someone, blame all the people that took advantage of the system. I understand there are some legitimate cases that need it but it has been abused beyond belief
That doesn’t make it right to take it from people
